We went for brunch to Ken's Diner for the first time. The whole restaurant is done up in a retro 50's style which we love. Service is excellent and the food is top notch. A real hidden gem and a definite place to check out.

We 3 had brunch on a Saturday morning. We arrived at opening time - 10 am. The diner is inside the actual courtyard of the Schonsee Square building itself; drive through the entry portico and it's on the far left. Reception was fast, very friendly and professional. Decor was great 50's - 60's. They asked if we wanted coffee and then brought us three full mugs, an extra small carafe, and lots of creamers. Sugar was in a bottle on the table (actually worked, dispensing 1 Tbs. per full tip!). **The coffee was med/strong and excellent. We ordered at the counter; a breakfast poutine, a Denver omelet, and an eggs Benedict. They brought the food to the table (since at the time only 5 customers). It was top notch - well plated, plentiful and great tasting. The Benny sauce tasted home made. We left with our extras in take-out boxes! The bill for 3 was $60 including tip. We very highly recommend Ken's Diner.

Spouse and I went for brunch on a Sunday as had read some reviews elsewhere saying how great it was. We arrived around noon and found a table. After sitting awhile we realized we had to order at the till. We had eaten breakfast so had lunch: a burger and fries for him, and the special (chicken soup and a turkey and lettuce sandwich) for me. I had coffee with my meal and it was hot and strong, served in a large mug. So far so good. The soup arrived with the sandwich. Soup was very bland, almost flavourless, with overcooked noodles. Sandwich was OK in terms of fillings, though also bland with no condiments provided. Whole wheat bread was quite dry on the outside of sandwich, which truly disappoints. Spouse said burger was from a previously frozen patty and overall greasy. Fries were great and served with ketchup. Cubed fruit provided for my dessert was cold and fresh. It's a cute retro style place set into a senior's complex, with apartments and assisted living. Maybe the tastes are cued to nursing home expectations, or maybe the breakfasf food menu is better. But I'm unlikely to find out because we won't be back. One full star given for LGBTQ friendly environment and cozy ambiance, so really the meal got two.

Looking for a diner experience with top notch food and a lot of it for a fair price? You just…read moredescribed Rockin' Robyn's to a T! We would go back in a heartbeat, just need to sleep off the food coma for a while. It's bright and airy in spite of the smallish space and the amount of booths and tables, oh and you can sit at the counter. The walls and ceiling are covered in memorabilia, concert banners and what not. The place was absolutely hopping at 12:45 PM, but we were sat in a booth right away. Waters dropped moments later, asked if we needed coffee, tea or whatever else you wanted to drink. Our server was fantastic, explaining and educating us as we were first timers. The food came out piping hot very quickly and our tea ordered after the food was dropped came in a large teapot and hot just like at home. The clubhouse, which I did not have, has house made ham and turkey according to our server. My corn beef had slices of corn beef that did not taste house made, but the sheer volume of meat I couldn't finish, the eggs were cooked perfectly. K's Mexicasa omelette was excellent with the Mexican meat the star. I know why the place is consistently full, it's that good. Definite redo when back in West Edmonton

The corned beef has had mashed potatoes which is different from what I'm used to but it was tasty nonetheless. My husband substituted the pancakes in his meal for pan fried potatoes. The place was super busy even though it was around 2pm and was still packed when we left. They seated us quickly as we were willing to sit at a table but we could've waited for a booth. The servers were friendly and fast which was perfect for us as I needed to get to an appointment. It's a relatively small restaurant with many patrons. It's definitely got that old diner vibe which is always fun once in a while. If you're looking for a solid, traditional diner experience, you can't for wrong with Rockin' Robyn's.

I love their cinnamon buns but this time I did not order one. My friend and I came here for supper. It was delicous. I had the Red Curry Laksa with prawns, PEI mussels, bok choy, carrots, bell peppers, red onions, vermicelli noodles, red coconut curry sauce, and cilantro. My friend had the falafel and fries. I loved my Red Curry Laksa. It was fresh and rich. Loved the red coconut curry sauce. The seafood was a decent portion. My friend liked her falafal but it definately wasn't the best she has had and was eyeing up my curry. Service was OK. I feel like because we didn't order alcoholic beverages, we didn't get service as much as the tables that did. That won't prevent me from coming here again.

Both were so very tasty, and did not disappoint. The ambiance of the restaurant is different than many places I've gone to. Being close to the University of Alberta main campus, many young students compose the clientele of Sugarbowl, but not limited to. The decor is very nice - brick walls and posters, and hand written beer menu, to name a few. Service was very good, professional, and friendly!! Overall good experience, and will return again in the future.
