From Patient J. Herrick: After spending 13 years in the US Army Rangers, in my younger days, I literally destroyed my body. Especially my joints. After putting up with excruciating pain in the last 2 years, I found I could no longer take it any more. My quality of life was almost completely gone and I could not even do simple daily tasks and I am only 54.
After 2 years of dealing with the Veteran's care system, I finally got approval for a total hip replacement through the community care program. This allowed me to select a civilian provider. A friend of mine, Dr. Jeff Eaton, suggested I go to Ortho Arizona and Ortho Arizona referred me to Dr. Schmidt who they said was their best surgeon to do a hip replacement on hips as bad as mine.
I had never been in a hospital before so needless to say, I was scared to death. From the first appointment, Dr. Schmidt listened to me, answered my questions and he and his staff were simply amazing. On March 2nd, I had surgery at Oasis hospital and the entire process went incredibly smooth. Everything happened just the way they explained it would which really helped with my anxiety and made me feel completely relaxed and happy. Within 3 hours after surgery, I was up walking in my room and within 24 hours I was home in my own house! I'm following all of my post op instructions and it seems everything is going great. I'm looking forward to meeting Dr. Schmidt again on Friday for my post op, so I can thank him for giving me my quality of life back!
If you are needing a hip replacement and have the same anxiety I did, I highly recommend Dr. Schmidt and can tell you the process is not as bad as you think it will be and it's life changing! read more
