Honestly, one of the best doctors I have ever had! If you're looking for a primary care physician he is definitely your guy.

The staff is just out of this world wonderful. Ive had a few bad Dr's and Healthcare professionals to know a Great one when I see one. This facility always ALWAYS takes great care of me, professional, friendly, goes the extra mile to make sure my visit goes smoothly. I went for a yearly physical on 7-28-26 and was seen by Dr Kelly Vander Veen. Shes the epitome of what a caring, empathetic Dr should be. She listens to what I have to say, gives proper feedback and takes the time to make sure I get what I need when im there. Another absolute GEM of a staff member is Elly. Man...she's top notch when it comes to making me feel welcomed there. The World needs more Ellys.. I don't remember all the names who worked that day but whoever was, Please PLEASE give them my heartfelt thanks for easing my "white coat" ...I don't have it as bad since ive been going to Montage in Marina. I recently moved back to Monterey and after months and month of looking for a primary care doctor,…read morewas lucky enough to find Dr. Tajiri. I had a PCP I loved in CO, and wasn't sure if I would find a doctor here who was as good a listener, and as warm as my previous one. I am over the moon happy to have found Dr. Tajiri. She is friendly and caring, listened to concerns and provided all the appropriate referrals. I did not feel rushed, and I left my appointment feeling so good. Absolutely worth the drive to Marina. Thank you Dr. T!

This is a complaint about Dr. Tajiri's unwillingness to help with rescheduling after she canceled…read moremy appointment. I was hospitalized in November 2022 for a significant issue that needed follow up. I was new to the area and still needed to establish a primary care physician. That same month, I made an appointment with Dr. Tajiri; the earliest available appointment was in late February. Due to doctor shortages in the Monterey bay area, it is simply difficult to get into see a physician for any chronic issues; the nurse practitioners at MoGo made it very clear that they would not see me for my condition and I even had issues getting in with Doctors on Duty for this issue, hence it was exceedingly important to me to be able to see a primary care physician. I made numerous phone calls to numerous different agencies, and with my health insurance, the late February appointment date with Dr. Tajiri was the best I could do, even though I had a more urgent issue. About two weeks before the appointment (which was set for Friday), I received a phone call from Montage stating that Dr. Tajiri wanted to reschedule my appointment because Dr. Tajiri was going to start working from home on Fridays; she would not do telehealth for my type of appointment. I was fine with this, but then was told the earliest I could reschedule would be the month of June. I explained my medical situation to the staff members and to staff supervisors, and requested that they speak to Dr. Tajiri and see if she would make an exception or work to schedule me in at some other time. I was bluntly told no and that the earliest she would see me was June. It did not matter that I had scheduled my appointment in November or that I had waited several months, and it did not matter that I had a significant medical issue where I need a prescription refill that I could not get any other doctor to refill (thankfully I got on the cancellation list of another doctor, and that doctor immediately refilled my prescription - not to be too dramatic, but for me, it is a life-saving medication). How Dr. Tajiri handled cancelling on patients so that she could work from home just came across to me as callous and selfish; working from home is a convenience. I have no problem with it in general, but believe that as a service provider where other people, such as myself, rely upon and count on that service, Dr. Tajiri should have made reasonable accommodation exceptions while she transitioned to working from home on Fridays rather than just outright canceling my appointment without even discussing it with me.

She has supported…read moreme through a pregnancy, the coming of age of my 3 daughters and the discovery of one of my child's mental illness and eventual death. To me, she is so much more than a physician...she is a friend, a confidant, and a therapist. She is patient, LISTENS to what you say and takes the time necessary for you to feel like you've had a good talk with your doctor! Years ago, I came into the office and was exhausted. I immediately fell asleep in the exam room and knowing that I needed a nap, I was covered with a blanket and left to rest while Dr. Tierney checked in with me several times to see if had had woken up. Best 20 minute nap ever! Now that shows true compassion. She returns calls, reads and responds to e-mails and asks what YOU want to do. Dr. Tierney does not take insurance, but she is fair in her pricing. For what she asks and the time you get, it's a bargain. I can't say enough...and that's the truth! Pamela Hamilton

I can not imagine if she was not there for us by email and calling our son every other day to make sure we were doing all the vitamins, antibiotics and then encouraging my son to take me to CHOMP when I became worse. This experience was so difficult and we were scared that without proper medical advice, the outcome could have been deathly. I would have happily paid any doctor for life saving advice. During this time, we were not allowed to be seen in any local facility due to the high risks. So, emailing her was something that we will cherish.

After numerous requests to find out how long it would be, he finally left at about 11:45 after making an appointment with another doctor. Staff was apologetic and helpful (as much as possible) but wait time is unacceptable. Husband took off work to go to this appointment and he works 1.5 hours away so you can imagine how inconvenient this was. ALSO, this was not original appointment nor doctor. When I called office a couple of week before about another question, found out that husband's appointment was not only moved out a week but was scheduled with a different doctor. No one notified us; had it not been for my calling to ask a question on the intake form, we would not have known he had been rescheduled. Just noticed that Doctor concentrates on women's health (obgyn?) which can possibly be cause of delay. However, if known there would be a delay at this time in the morning, someone should have notified us and rescheduled appointment. BTW, was told that this doctor is notorious for running late. Terrible service; terrible consideration and respect for other people's time!!!

I am super happy with the level of care and compassion this office has. Specifically Laura Slippy…read moreNP and her care team, has made my medical journey so much more easy to navigate. They have demonstrated time and time again that they care for my well being and will do what is necessary to make sure my Health is at its best. I appreciate everything they have done and continue to do . 10/10 care for sure

Our experience with this office has been extremely concerning, particularly the way we have been…read moretreated by reception and the lack of communication regarding continuity of care. My son was referred by our insurance to nurse practitioner Laura Slippy in April for an ongoing medical issue. She prescribed medication and made a referral to an office with a long waitlist. She said she would provide care until then. The earliest specialist appointment we could obtain is in November, so she had continued managing his care while we waited. Without any warning or discussion, she stopped responding to refill requests from the pharmacy and became unreachable through messages. When I finally reached reception to find out what was happening, I was told that because my son had been referred, she would no longer provide care for this issue, no warning or plan for the withdrawal symptoms his medication can cause. I was told the clinic manager would call me, and then the receptionist hung up on me. At one point I actually asked the receptionist if everything was okay or if we had done something wrong because the hostility I was encountering was so unexpected and unlike anything I have experienced from a medical office. Most concerning is that my son was left without his prescribed medication and without a continuity-of-care plan. We were given no advance notice that the NP intended to stop prescribing it, no appointment to discuss discontinuing it, and no explanation from a clinician about how his symptoms should be managed until he can see the specialist. Unfortunately, this was not my first troubling experience with this provider. I was also referred to Laura Slippy for ADHD medication management after previously being diagnosed by a psychiatrist. During my appointment, she told me that I could not have ADHD because I was not a "12-year-old boy" and recommended that I stop my medication without tapering. After stopping it, I experienced severe symptoms and ultimately sought urgent medical care from another provider. I understand that providers may decide a medication is no longer appropriate or that a specialist should take over a patient's care. My concern is not that a provider made a medical decision I disagreed with. My concern is the absence of communication, advance notice, and a safe plan for ongoing care, combined with extraordinarily rude treatment when I tried to find out what was happening. Based on our experiences, I would not feel comfortable trusting this office with my family's medical care again.
