I am only writing this review 6 years after my experience because I received a email promoting his new hair replacement clinic, which led me to his yelp page. It never crossed my mind to write a yelp about a doctor. In 2018 I needed to find a general physician and I found him. I was need basic bloodwork to get a general baseline & had what I thought was allergies. After doing a pricey & extensive Boston heart blood panel, he said I had asthma. After numerous appointments, medication, inhalers and his refusal to actually touch my neck (I was starting to have swollen glands near my collarbone) he referred me to a ENT. I didn't know to ask for a chest scan when I was having a hard time breathing and he kept saying it was asthma. The Ent doctor took a biopsy then went on vacation. 1 week later I ended up at Chomp and was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and needed a pericardial effusion and was informed that's another 24 hours I would have had a heart attack!! I don't know what the very expensive Boston heart scan was for and had he have been more thorough maybe I could've been diagnosed 5 months sooner. Doctors aren't God and can't see inside your body, but they definitely should take your concern seriously, especially when you have trouble breathing. I did have my oncologist send him all of my files so that he was well aware of what I went through and of course I heard nothing. Long story long, shop around!!!! read more

Had seen him a few times several years ago. It had been a while (yes, there was a pandemic) so I called for an appointment. The front staff asks about insurance. I said I now have medicare/tricare. She says she will need to check because of the medicare. She calls back and says they cannot take me, claiming it had been too long (over 3 yrs since my last appointment). Sooo....like the reason changed. Not the way to treat a veteran!! I think he is good but the front staff is unorganized and overworked. Good luck! read more

Dr. Issvoran is very nice as is his office staff. However, the appointments felt like a revolving door with all of 15 minutes for an initial consultation. He wants to know the immediate issue (and you better answer quickly on the spot) and does not take a thorough history--he may make you feel blown off when you bring up other concerns if he doesn't think it's important. I'm sure he is knowledgeable and, again, he's very nice. But his approach is very directive (like getting orders) and I did not feel heard (maybe because the appointments are so short). I'm not saying he's wrong, but it doesn't feel great to end a doctor's appointment just feeling dumb for being concerned for your own health. Knowledgeable doctor, but not a good fit if you want a doctor as a partner/collaborator in your health. read more

Showed up for my first visit after waiting a month to see him. I gave the office staff my Blue Shield card and, my Medi-cal card as a second provider. I have Medi-cal because I was unemployed during Covid because I lost my job. I sat down to fill out new patient forms and the front desk person went into the back and to check something. She returned with the office manager and she informed me that they cannot take me as a new patient because I have Medi-cal. I have Blue Shield PPO and my Medi-cal is still active so I use it as a secondary. I explained that my Blue Shield insurance gets billed and not Medi-cal. I called my insurance group's customer service phone number to check their information and they are completely wrong on their information about Medi-cal and billing and I felt very demeaned and degraded. Dr. Issvoran's employees made me feel very sub-standard and it gave me a preview of what was to come from the rest of his staff and his practice. read more

Went here for some primary care issues and could not keep the doctor, from focusing on my weight, weighing on his machine, dieting on a Keto diet and other typical fat shaming tactics. I would not consider returning here for anything because of extreme assumptions that were made based on my size, the "mansplaining" about subjects that I am well aware of, and not getting enough information about the most pertinent issues that I was there for to make such rash judgments about the "root cause." Its unfortunate because on the surface the doctor seems friendly, but there is something very insidious about relegating significant symptoms to weight, when there are other potential causes. Medicine reflects the biases of the culture at large, including making pre-determinations about larger people. This circumstance was evident during my appointment. read more

After seeing him for two years, he finally admitted that he does not know how to read an MRI. I recommend you find a real doctor!

Dr. Issvoran is a soft-spoken, caring doctor with great clinical skills and a listening ear. As an MD myself, I can appreciate just how rare he is, and wish there were more physicians like him. I had the privilege to both be treated by him and work in his clinic for a week. The first thing to note is that Dr. Issvoran adeptly uses his osteopathic skills to treat many of his patients with his hands, something that MD's like myself can't generally do. It makes him the perfect mix of a chiropractor and a physician. Another idiosyncrasy of his is how carefully he listens to his patients. No one he treats is "just a patient," rather they are each individual people for whose well being he is truly concerned. He treats fibromyalgia patients more satisfactorily than any other physician I've seen; I've seen him release trapped nerves that caused deafness, back pain, and other relatively intractable maladies. My only regret is that he is in Monterey. If he were in Atlanta, I would immediately put my wife and family under his care. I would unreservedly recommend that you make Dr. Issvoran your Primary Care Provider. read more

A doctor who REALLY cares! We need more doctors like him! I just got my full blood panel results, and I'm doing great: Dr. Issvoran has been prescribing a Boston Heart panel (a third party not associated with him, but trustworthy and thorough) and adjusting his recommendations to improve my numbers. He is so knowledgeable! He'll sit with you and explain every result, recommendation, and option. He discusses what's best for you: he will tell it to you straight because he cares, he won't prescribe just because it's the easy way out of a symptom, he will focus on healing and improving your health long term. I got my husband to switch doctors to him as well. We, at 40+, are in the best shape of our lives thanks to him! read more

Dr Issvoran is polite and his office got me in months before any place else in the area. I went in for a general check up and he gave my 2 hip adjustments. My back hasn't felt better in my life!! Only reason I don't give 5 stars is he seemed in quite a hurry and disregarded my concerns about my anxiety and sleep issues. I think he was just really busy, but a few minutes to address my concerns more thoroughly would have been greatly appreciated. read more

He refused to provide care to my father who does not speak English. My mother (who is fluent in English) accompanies my father to his doctor's appointments, but this doctor refused to see him. They made an appointment and paid the co-pay and were turned around by this "doctor". Unbelievable. My parents felt discriminated against and very hurt and, frankly, confused by the way the staff and the doctor treated them. I work in the area of disability rights and will refuse to allow my elderly father to be treated this way. Calling on the legal help tomorrow morning. read more

Not a practice I would recommend. The staff was very nice, it was easy to get an appointment and they followed up with a reminder. The Dr was nice enough, but simply didn't listen to what I needed to address. I've had a pain at the base of my neck that I wanted to get a referral for x-rays or MRI, instead he adjusted my hips. If you don't have any ongoing issues requiring individual attention, then the office will probably be just fine, but if you have specific issues, then you will be disappointed. read more

Dr. Issvoran and his team have been serving my family for the past 3 1/2 years since we moved to the peninsula. He takes the best care of my family that we have ever received, going above and beyond to not toss prescriptions at us, but to treat what actually causes our ailments. He is not a medicine pusher, nor does he just stick a bandaid on to mask what's wrong. Additionally, he doesn't recommend additional work ups or expensive treatments - he listens, gets to the root of the problem and suggests different treatment options, going over diet and how that can affect what's going on. He handles our family's physicals, sports injuries/ailments, health and wellness - you name it! We have never felt pressured into a treatment that we didn't feel was right, nor were we ever pressured to buy things from this doctor like we have seen from others who just want to push what the pharmaceutical companies are shoving in their faces. The office staff is super friendly and not only remembers us each time we are there, but asks about how my kids are, how their football/basketball/volleyball game went, how the elbow is doing etc. I highly recommend Dr. Issvoran and his team of professionals to anybody looking for a family doctor. read more

While he will certainly prescribe drugs when necessary, Dr. Issvoran is one of few doctors I've had that considers other options before reaching for his prescription pad. Dr. Issvoran was very caring, understanding and helpful when I brought my daughter in to see him. He has also called back to check on how she is doing, and he was doing some research on some new drug options for her, which is a rarity. My daughter has serious medical issues, so if I did not trust him I would not take her to see him. They were able to get us in within an hour for an infection she had and the wait time is usually about ten minutes. The receptionist is always very friendly and the office is very nice and cheerful, with their own parking lot. read more
