Worst. Dr. Ever. Refused to diagnose me with an inflammatory condition. Finally prescribed prednisone, high dose (80mg), for 1 week as a "test" because he didn't believe me. He didn't offer a follow-up appointment. I had the best week ever because the inflammatory condition was paused completely. BUT. NO. TAPER. !!! I thought I was going to die from the prednisone withdrawal effects. Felt like the worst flu ever. Every muscle, every inch of my body hurt. When I tried to get in touch, no call back. When I physically went in to try to get an appointment, his horrible assistant tried to diagnose me and wouldn't give me an appointment. WTF!! WORST. DR. EVER. read more

Dr Light is my adult son's physician and he is an excellent doctor on so many levels. His diagnostic skills, his approach and most importantly he reads his patients and knows how to direct them and support them in a healthier life style. He is an old school doctor who treats the person not the condition and that is rare today. He is a jewel. He looks for what may be under the surface and less obvious in his patients. A rare quality in this day and age of rushing through everything. He takes his time and really lets them know they are important and his time during their appointments is theirs. read more

I really did not want to write this. I'm already imagining the hordes of "he's the best" comments that will drown this one out - but it's because I looked on Yelp to find a doctor among the precious few in the area that I decided to write this. I can tell you two things: First, the office staff is the worst I've ever had to deal with. UNBELIEVABLY RUDE. Every time. Second, he has on more than one occasion pushed hard on an injury, pushing on it to the point where I am in tears, and then not even bothering to send me to a specialist - actually telling me specifically that I "didn't need to." I couldn't take it anymore and went to an urgent care, were they not only actually ordered the imaging tests I needed but called me immediately with the results. I definitely have an injury, and when I told Dr. Light the results he was rude with me and walked out of my appointment. It all doesn't matter now anyway. As bad as he is and as much as you try to make him into "Norman Rockwell small town doctor" the man is charging $850 a year for concierge service and only accepting patients willing to fork it over. It's a joke. read more

Dr. Light is a great, friendly, knowledgeable family physician. He has an excellent bedside manner. Because Dr. Light is so good, and so capable, he's always fully scheduled. There are always issues that come up with patient care, so make sure to bring a book if your appointment is not the first one of the morning or afternoon, as he may be running behind. (Face it: if you need five more minutes of your doctor's time than you're scheduled for, wouldn't you like to get it now, rather than have to make a new appointment? Dr. Light is more concerned about patient care than the clock, and I applaud him for that.) The staff is great--other than the hell-hag in accounting who is a lipstick-besmirched she-demon. I had to deal with the accounting beast only once, so I'd almost forgotten. As long as you're dealing with the girls up front, you're in for excellent service. Because of patient volume, they no longer accept walk-ins. Call first. P.S.: If you are an ignorant fool who believes that vaccinations cause autism, please either get educated, or give your children up for adoption. The study that "showed" the correlation has been thoroughly discredited and debunked; the editors of the journal it appeared in said that the article should never have been published in the first place. Furthermore, vaccinations are one of the greatest public health successes of all time. No longer do parents have to watch, powerless, while their children suffer and even DIE from what are now preventable diseases: scourges like whooping cough, measles, and polio. No responsible health care provider will let a child suffer for his parents' ignorance or prejudice regarding vaccinations. read more

A few years ago Dr Light changed his office to a concierge model. Great for me as I can afford the annual fee and it's easier to get an appointment and he can now spend more time and be strategic in helping manage my wellness. My wife has now joined me with Dr Light as her primary care provider as this type of care is hard to find. read more

I am in the health care industry and so every time I go into an office I am critiquing it from not only a patient point of view but from a health practitioner point of view as well. This office is great. Very friendly staff that is super attentive to my needs. Not overbearing about insurance or finances and I honestly felt like they wanted to help me. The docs are all great. I have seen almost all of them at some point and I really like them all. Very nice, friendly, and genuine which is rare to find. I would recommend them and I plan to see them for years to come. read more

I used to work for Dr. Light. While he's a nice guy, on more than 1 occasion he would ask me to cancel patients so he could go surfing. Usually, on our busiest day. Then, when I gave 30 days notice that I was leaving to get married & move out of the area, he never interviewed anyone to take my place. He called me on my wedding day & asked if I could come in to work. It took 2 weeks to get my final paycheck. Sadly, during tax season I found out he wasn't deduction the necessary taxes so I was stuck with paying $6k in taxes. I received a call from the IRS. They questioned me about how I was hired. Dr. Light claimed I was an independence contractor.. I wasn't according to the IRS. They dealt with him accordingly. read more

I love this doctor and his staff. They are very friendly and accommodating when they can be, and Dr Light cares about his patients and takes the time to talk with you about what's ailing you. In my book they don't get any better than Dr. Light and his excellent staff!! Dale Allen read more

I saw Dr. Light for about two years when I lived in Monterey. I found him to be patient, approachable, knowledgeable and capable. I've had a lot of experiences with ho-hum, I don't care, I'm too busy doctors... Dr. Light is NOT one of them. His office staff was quite friendly also. They've been great about sending my medical records. read more

Dr. Light detected my back problem in one visit. A different doctor took over a year with no results. His knowledge was current, which lead to a correct diagnosis & appropriate physical therapy. He has an upbeat & calm manner, explains things with direct/easy to understand answers, and doesn't waste time, which I truly appreciate. The other doctor at his office, Dr. Lo, is a women who with little to go on, correctly diagnosed a recent food poisoning incident I had. She is available for well-lady checkups and can sometimes see you sooner than Dr Light, if needed. Dr. Light also had an internist (woman) during one of my well-lady appointments. His staff are efficient & polite. The office is clean, it's easy to find parking, and not too long of a wait. I highly recommend. read more

He was a horrible condescending jerk to my daughter and me when we went there for a consultation about a problem she had. No concern whatever for the feelings of a sensitive teen! Avoid him like the plague! read more

I'm sure Dr. Light is a great dr., but he charges over $125 each year on top of his usual charges. This is unacceptable and delusional. When I heard this from his assistant, I didn't even make an appointment. read more

Dr. Light is amazing! I just had my first initial appointment with him and from the moment he walked into the room I was extremely comfortable. I had recent experiences with doctors that I would not see again. I will say, Dr. Light is charismatic, extremely knowledgeable, and understanding. He appears to have a genuine concern for his patients and their medical history. I am excited to build this relationship with him (and the office) and he comes highly recommended. Make him your primary! read more

Dr Light has been my pcp for over 20 years. He has been extremely helpful to me in times of need. He helped my stop smoking many years ago. There is sometimes a wait to see the Dr, but I believe it's well worth it! read more

Glad to see Dr. Light has finally got his act together. When I worked for him he would cancel his patients to go surfing. When a patient came in complaining of stomach pains he sent her away. He told me she was a hypochondriac. She died that night of a ruptured gallbladder. read more

I just Love Dr. Light, and Dr. Lo! I was surprised when one patient said they do not use or consider alternative practices, because Dr. Lo, an osteopath, recommends holistic therapies and alternatives prior to the traditional prescription path! Dr. Light and Dr. Lo are so comforting and soothing, and yes-honest and practical to a fault! I have gone here, all of my children have gone here! Yes, there may be hiccups at the front desk, they may get frazzled from time to time-because they are SO BUSY! WOuld highly recommend the whole Drs Bruemmer, Light, and Lo to anyone! read more

Was fortunate enough to get an appointment with Dr. Light within a week. The practice of Dr. Light, Dr. Bruemmer and Dr. Lo comes highly recommended. I got to the office and I was momentarily befuddled by the children's drawings on the wall. I thought it was a pediatricians office, but no. On a side note kids drawings always freak me out. There was a moment of awkwardness as my appointment could not be found. But it was and I was all set to get in at the time that I had made my appointment. Dr. Light's assistant greeted me and we'll call her chatty Kat-ty for now. She actually did provide me with some excellent information so I was pleased. Dr. Light came in just about 10 minutes after my weigh in and blood pressure taking and we were off. He was afraid to answer "well, there aren't any studies on that yet" or "I think you need to wait on this" and he just seemed and was just all round well informed. I was pleased and just all round happy that I had found an internist who was with the program (not my Health Insurance program, but just "got it""). In the words of our nanny luvin' ex Gov...I'll be back. In 4-6 weeks!! read more

Last of the smalltown General Practitioners? Maybe. Dr Light is terrific - funny, informed, and capable - sometimes a bit harried as he always seems to be more than fully scheduled. My wife quite likes Dr Bruemmer. A homey, comfortable, only slightly shabby office. Staff who are real people, not automatons (i.e occasionally a little short, but more often wonderfully engaged and willing to go the extra mile to track down a doctor, a prescription, call you back, etc. I trust these people. read more

Great bed side manner and very smart! He's easy to talk with and spends quality time with his patients. I alway feel Dr. Light has my wellbeing at heart. read more

Dr. Eliot Light is a wonderful doctor, my family has used him for 3 generations. He is the "Norman Rockwell Doctor" of Pacific Grove. He is down to earth and really cares about his patients. We trust him entirely and are lucky to have such a great family doctor! Dr. Lo and Brenner are also really nice doctors if you can't see Dr. Light. Arelene is a wonderful nurse there also. read more

Great Doc in a busy office. Has handled by entire family over the last ten plus years. As of late the new reality of health care requires some adjustments to running a business. Dr. Light's office has instituted a annual membership fee. As you can see by a few of the folks upset by this new twist, I only have a few words: Get used to it. GP's are not getting rich and insurance companies are skimming off the top. If you want quality HC... its going to cost a little more. read more

Great doc on top of his game. Glad he's gone to a subscription based approach. Wait times are down and face to face time are up.

My wife went to him for a while, but left due to his dishonesty and lack of care. For severe anxiety that she suffered for 20+ years, he refused to even do anything. He told her to deal with it. There was a small billing issue when we moved, and he said he had mailed letters every month, called us constantly, and was ready to take us to court... We have phone records showing he never called, and we talked to his billing department, and they told us they tried ONCE to mail us a notice. We tried confronting him, and he very rudely turned around and walked away and closed the door. We did, of course, pay the bill. He has a very bad attitude, and does not care for his patients. He is also dishonest, and some of his staff is incompetent. I would highly recommend anyone and everyone to find a different doctor. read more

Just read the letter they sent to all their current patients. Announcing that they will be charging $1,100 for an annual "membership". If you don't pay you are stuck going to a new doctor. I will NEVER patronize a business that blames the affordable care act and uses it as an excuse to make some quick money. What a scam! Just search for it on the Web. read more

Wait times are ridiculous, office staff and nurses are GREAT. Dr. Lo seemed competent, I like her. Dr. Light is also ok. Just a small side note, this practice is not alternative medicine friendly. If you are of the no vaccination, limited vacc, or delayed vacc persuasion, save yourself the humiliation and find another pediatrician. :-) read more

I was a patient for over 15 years. Now he has decided you need to be a "member" and will be charged over 850.00 per year just to walk through the door. That does not include cost of office visits, lab work or anything. Money for nothing. He does not accept medicare or medical. I don't think doctors should pick and choose only to work on the rich. He is not up to date on natural alternatives. I have a new doctor who I am much more pleased with. Go somewhere else. read more

I've been a patient for over 12 years and can honestly say that I've never had a doctor I like more. He takes the time to treat me and to explain what is necessary. I have a chronic condition and he has worked with me in trying a variety of alternative treatments. There have been a couple of times over the years where there was an emergency that needed to be treated and he saw me within 15 minutes of my calling his office. There are a few times that I've seen a specialist and they validated what Dr. Light was doing. I also like his bedside manner and follow up. Can't recommend him highly enough. read more

Dr. Light is a fine primary care doctor in a very busy practice. He is on time, even though he spends a lot of time with his patients. He really listens and brings a wide knowledge base of experience to bear on helping them sort out their medical problems. The office is a little shabby, but the doctor more than makes up for any minor problems with decor. Very friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommended. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Light weeks ago and I am satisfied! The only thing that I am concerned about is that it always take weeks (2-4 weeks) before you get an appointment. My previous PCM left Monterey so I don't have a choice but to look for another one. My frustration now is that I set an appointment for September 9 and then I received a call telling me that Dr Light will not be in the office that day so they had to reschedule me for September 3 at 1045. I appreciate that they moved the schedule a week earlier however I have to go to work that date in the morning. I called again today (August 29) to check if they can move my appt on 4Sept instead because I just confirmed my work week schedule today. Unfortunately they don't have anything available until the end of September. I just think it is unfair they should have let me choose what date would be good for me since they rescheduled my appt it is not my fault if the Dr is not gonna be there that day. After clearing my therapy in a month I may switch doctors again :( read more

Worst experience I have ever had with a dr. We went to him for help when my 6 year old got sick and it was painful to eat or drink anything.. I told him I was concerned he would get dehydrated. He said it is a virus and it just has to run its course. We went home and I talked to my friend back in KY who is a nurse. She said there is a medicine he could take for the pain so then he could at least eat and drink. I the called the office and told them the name of the medicine and the dr never even called me back. Later that day we went to the hospital for IV because he got so dehydrated he was screening that his stomach hurt. They asked me to follow up the next day with the primary dr. When I told him what happened because he wouldn't call me back he just shrugged his shoulders and pretended that I said nothing.. No apology or explanation as to why he didn't call. Very rude. When we told them that we were leaving they tried to tell me that nobody else is taking Tricare at this time and if they are it would take me forever to get an appointment. That is also a lie prime care office Dr Fernandez takes tricare and the staff is very nice and helpful Dr is great. We are so glad we changed doctors and are not giving that office any more of our money read more
