I've been a patient of Dr. Heal's for about a year and a half. We moved from Silicon Valley, and…read moreeveryone on the Monterey Peninsula told me how hard it is to find good doctors, but I could not be more thrilled with Dr. Heal. She's one of the top docs of any type that I've ever seen. She's extremely thorough and really takes time to listen as well as do a thorough exam. Her annual exam includes an EKG and pulmonary function test. I've had numerous appointments that have lasted over an hour. She's also very proactive -- I've had a hip issue for years that my two previous GPs ignored, and she helped with a couple of treatment ideas and ordering imaging, which included a pretty epic battle with my insurance company. I will need surgery to fix it, but she's the first doc who actually listened and helped me address it. I've also seen her for several other issues, including Covid, gut issues, rheumatology, and anxiety. She's been knowledgable and compassionate about them all, and her referrals have been solid. Be aware that there is a concierge fee. To me it's extremely well spent: it buys me long, thorough appointments (1 hour plus) and phone access outside office hours. I once called with post-Covid breathing issues after hours, got the doctor directly, she reassured me I didn't need to go to ER and saw me the next day at 7:30 am. I can text and get a response on a weekend. Fee is 1/10 of what it would be in Silicon Valley. If you are a person who only sees the doctor once a year, might not be worth it.

She has provided excellent care for me. I have chronic pain issues and she has always been concerned and has delivered excellent care on my behalf. I would also like to state that the front office staff has always been courteous and professional. I'm amazed that they greet the majority of patients by name. The other supportive staff has been very helpful also. Julian Atkins

When I finally got to meet her, no eye contact. Dr.Hwhang, was brisk and distant, I didn't feel seen or heard. immediately spoke about prescribing methadone, and other sedative medications, She seemed not to understand that my goal is to be alert and able to drive. She then prescribed seven day supply of the sedative medication, I was informed that refills were dependent on virtual "pain-level check in " which would occur either Monday or Friday, between the hours of 8-5. I informed my referring PC that I did not want to continue with that agency and would seek another agency and for . I also informed the office staff who I would give a five star rating to. We're not for the fact that this morning out of the I got another call from Dr. Hwong said I'm calling to check on your pain level. I am relocating and I will be looking for another specialist. This is a very poor listener. And I noticed that the patients in the office were and shuffling around like the walk of the dead. I would strongly advise against using the services of this position. l

The amounts paid to the doctor did not change, only the processing of the bill was changed. The doctor's insurance person billed Medicare who paid a portion of the amount and sent the remainder to the patient's Secondary Insurance who paid the rest. Then came the Medicare Advantage Policies where the bill is sent to the insurance company and not to Medicare. The insurance company then pays the Medicare portion and their portion if the doctor is in-net. If the doctor is not in-net, then the patient would have to pick up the difference with a co-pay and the doctor got all of his money. Dr, Christensen's insurance person sent these bills to Medicare, as usual, but Medicare rejected them. Based on this action his Insurance Person convinced the doctor that these policies will not be paid, so he dropped me as a patient. No warning, just dropped. His office refused the take a message from me to discuss this because the insurance person said, "you would need to make an appointment for him to call you back and you can't pay." I have Diabetes and and heart problems. I learned that I was dropped as a patient when I tried to refill my diabetic medication prescription and he refused to allow it. because of the money that his Insurance person told him he would loose the money. My last contact with him, he hung up on me. Wow. I am truly sorry for you. Remember, a company's staff reflects the ownership and management of the company.
