Since the beginning of this year, I have been trying to schedule an appointment. Instead of helping me move forward, the assistant told me that Dr. Holamandara would not see me until I had an MRI. She instructed me to ask my primary care physician to order it. That made no sense because the specialist is the one requesting the MRI and should be responsible for providing the appropriate referral or coordinating the necessary steps. Because I had previously seen Dr. Pativanda for the same condition, I was then told that they would contact Dr. Pativanda's office to request the MRI referral. That was over four months ago. Since then, I have called both offices every couple of weeks asking for an update. Dr. Holamandara's office and Dr. Pativanda's office are located directly across from each other in the same building, yet no one seems able to communicate or provide answers. Neither office has followed up with me, returned my calls with a solution, or taken ownership of resolving the issue. The lack of communication, coordination, and accountability has delayed my medical care for months. As a patient, I should not have to spend months chasing down referrals and repeatedly calling multiple offices just to get a simple answer. Patients deserve timely communication, clear guidance, and staff who are willing to help instead of passing responsibility to someone else. I hope this office improves its patient care and communication because no one seeking medical treatment should have to go through this experience.

I had surgery a few days ago at the Cass St. surgery center and they were amazing on all counts…read more From the nurse who checked me in, to the amazing nurse who put in my IV (the only part of surgery that I really dread) to the anesthesia doctor, and whoever it was who very patiently helped me to dress on leaving that day, they were all so kind and compassionate that before surgery even began I felt like I had my own personal, elite squad of care. Thank you to all of you, and also the 2 new nurses introduced to me in the operating room as I was saying hello while succumbing to the anesthesia. I remember laughing to myself as they wheeled me down the hall, and saying I felt like a famous formula 1 driver and they were my superstar pit crew! Thanks again for making a surgery day go smooth and without fear.

They know how to help you relax and have a little fun before and after the procedures. I've had four different surgeons. They were all top notch. The facility is clean, busy and full of people who care and try to make your procedure as smooth as possible. I rather enjoyed the chatter amongst the staff. It showed me that they enjoyed their job and their co-workers. It was a true team experience. I highly recommend any of their Monterey facilities.

I was referred to Dr. Lin for my knee injury (full rupture of my right Patellar tendon). Although…read morehe is a hand specialist, he has knowledge of all things Orthopedic. After being told by 2 different doctors that they needed an MRI to verify the injury before they could do anything, Dr. Lin performed an ultrasound of my knee and saw right away what the problem was. He seemed frustrated that it had taken 2 weeks for me to get the problem officially diagnosed, as my injury needed surgery to be performed pretty quickly. He didn't want to waste any time and got me scheduled for surgery 5 days later. The work he did was phenomenal...only a 2 1/2 inch incision and minimal pain during recovery. I'm 14 weeks post op now and almost back to full range of motion in my knee. Nothing but good things to say about this man. Positive experience all around.

Where to begin? My husband was involved in a motorcycle accident {due to some idiot running a…read morestop sign) and the ER surgeon told him he'd need surgery. At the pre-surgery consultation, the ER Dr, said he wasn't sure how to fix the "bad break" to his wrist but would try screwing an exterior metal bar down his arm at two locations and casting for 6 weeks and "see if that works". He also wasn't sure what kind of hardware he'd be able to use and would have to figure that out. WHAT? Sounded pretty archaic, and, if it didn't work then we'd be back to square one. Having had a wonderful experience for a different issue at Monterey Spine and Joint, I called them and was able to schedule an appointment for my husband to see Dr. James Lin in a couple of days. We went in, Dr. Lin looked over the MRI from the ER and said he could fix it. When asked about the hardware, he whipped out his phone and pulled up an image of what he'd be using. When asked what his level of experience was with this type of injury, he said "Let me put it this way, if you'd seen any other doctor in Monterey County, they'd send you to me." SOLD! Confident minus the cockiness. Dr. Lin performed the surgery two days later at the Monterey Surgery Center (Which is another great review) and personally came out to the waiting room to speak to me when he was done (other doctors sent nurses to speak to other loved ones), which I was grateful for. My husband only needed to use painkillers once then the occasional Ibuprofen. Ten days later and all was looking good enough to start hand therapy. They don't have a hand therapist at MS&J so Dr. Lin referred him to Terrapin, also at Ryan Ranch. The therapist there (Lisa) had a great relationship with Dr. Lin's patients and could email or call him directly if anything came up, which was great and showed a team approach in my husband's healing. Dr. Lin was great with all follow ups and we never had to wait long in the office or get more X-rays than absolutely needed. He and his staff were great, always smiling and warm and tolerant of our sense of humor. Fast forward 6 months and am grateful to say my husband is healed, and we're happy to say that choosing Dr. Lin was the BEST decision we could have made throughout my husband's road to recovery. My experiences with this practice are dismal. My challenges include:…read more1. Charge disputes: on two occasions I was charged for strapping. The first time, I did not request it, was not advised there would be a charge and as it lasted only a few hours, served no purpose. I called and spoke with the receptionist about it twice. The same bill was sent again so I deducted the disputed amount from my payment and included an explanation. The second instance happened in July. There was no strapping done. 2. Follow up: In addition to not receiving calls back regarding billing questions, I waited 2 months past the estimated date my shoe inserts were to have arrived last year. When I rang to inquire about them, I was told that had just arrived that day. Really? After each of my three visits, I was to have received a follow up call regarding items that came up during my consultation. In each instance, I waited over a week before calling the receptionist ask for a call back. No calls have ever been returned. 3. Insurance billing: I updated my insurance information at my last visit. The bill was incorrectly submitted to my previous insurance company. Upon receipt of the insurance company's notice, I rang the office and was told they had 'just' resubmitted it to the proper company that morning. Again; really? We'll see how that goes. My initial 2 visits were with Dr. Lerman. Due to his lack of responsiveness, I decided to see Dr. Wilhelm on my last visit as one of the issues with my feet has gotten worse. He did not agree with the diagnosis Dr. Lerman had given me. When I asked for insights as to why Dr. Lerman's diagnosis may have been incorrect, he brushed me off. I also inquired about having another type of shoe insert made. He didn't know what the options were and said he'd find out and call me. That visit was July 16. No call. I rang last week to follow up.....no return call. I hope to find a more responsive practice soon

I got a dental block and kiss filler and everything heeled and looked wonderful. I wanted another syringe and belle moved so I made arrangements with doctor lipman. I asked for a dental block and something went wrong. The next morning I was still numb and they kept telling me that it's normal. Well an additional day went by and I was still numb. Here we are a month later and my face is still numb and I can't make a proper kissy face and my lip goes to the side when I rub them together. I was told I had an allergic reaction which seems not right to me seeing as I had the same filler and dental block the second time and had no reaction the first time. The follow up has been awful too. I felt as if I was treated like another transaction. I just want to warn anyone who chooses to get filler because everything I've been going through has been really scary and the office is making me feel like they're not concerned at all. I think anyone else who can't feed there lips after a month would also be concerned and scared!
