I've been a patient of Dr. Heal's for about a year and a half. We moved from Silicon Valley, and everyone on the Monterey Peninsula told me how hard it is to find good doctors, but I could not be more thrilled with Dr. Heal. She's one of the top docs of any type that I've ever seen. She's extremely thorough and really takes time to listen as well as do a thorough exam. Her annual exam includes an EKG and pulmonary function test. I've had numerous appointments that have lasted over an hour. She's also very proactive -- I've had a hip issue for years that my two previous GPs ignored, and she helped with a couple of treatment ideas and ordering imaging, which included a pretty epic battle with my insurance company. I will need surgery to fix it, but she's the first doc who actually listened and helped me address it. I've also seen her for several other issues, including Covid, gut issues, rheumatology, and anxiety. She's been knowledgable and compassionate about them all, and her referrals have been solid. Be aware that there is a concierge fee. To me it's extremely well spent: it buys me long, thorough appointments (1 hour plus) and phone access outside office hours. I once called with post-Covid breathing issues after hours, got the doctor directly, she reassured me I didn't need to go to ER and saw me the next day at 7:30 am. I can text and get a response on a weekend. Fee is 1/10 of what it would be in Silicon Valley. If you are a person who only sees the doctor once a year, might not be worth it. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Heal for over 8 years. She is by far the best Primary Care Physician in my life. She is an internist and a board certified pulmonologist. She also ran the local hospital ICU department for 18 years. She really knows her stuff!! Once a year she gives me a head to toes examination that lasts over an hour! She worried about sleep apnea after hearing me talk about afternoon tiredness. After I researched the effects [mental decline and worse] I had sleep tests and have been using a CPAP machine for 5 years and feel much better. Sometimes 8 hours via my Oura ring! One time I had a carpet wire staple section stuck deep in the front of my foot. She met me in the office on a holiday and over 2 hours gradually removed it, prescribed an antibiotic and gave me aftercare instructions. No fun but very effective. Another time she worked on a rose thorn embedded in my heal. After she worried about peripheral neropathy and worked with a good PT person and things are better. On a weekend, when I fell inside the house and suffered a concussion [happily mild] she sent me to the ER department and during the afternoon visited the hospital to make sure things were going well. She engages in technical discussions, in one major case about statin use. We were on opposite sides but we traded medical articles and continued the discussion. She also talks frankly about my major medical risks and what is most important. One thing I had to rethink was about non-fatal heart attacks and strokes... and the devastating recovery efforts and impact. I would not trade her for another. read more

I see only 2 reviews, both negative and 2 hidden which are positive. Odd. This is definitely a 5* review, no reservations. I can't imagine why there aren't others as I have friends and other doctors who know of her and have ONLY spoken of her in the most positive terms imaginable! However, 10 years ago we were referred to her by local friends and became clients. She is the best doctor we have ever worked with. She is available to her patients 24x7; her appts are a full hour and we cover everything on a regular basis. In an emergency she is available and in ordinary life she is thorough, even in small areas. Two examples: she is always available via cell and she came into the office on a Saturday to remove a small piece of glass I had gotten in my foot (2 yrs ago) and this Sat my husband has an appt with her as she had an emergency on Wednesday and had to cancel all her appts. Average doctors would reschedule to "next available" , maybe months out but she rescheduled all hers to today, a Saturday so we would all get whatever was needed. She has saved my life by diagnosing sleep apnea (I had no idea but her experience told her from my symptoms and was verified in sleep lab including incidents of only 75% SO2 at times which border on heading towards death!) I am fine now and the cpap machine has resolved all issues. Then a severe depression and COPD which she recommended an amazing therapist to support me and a med for the COPD and I can now breathe normally rather than gasping after 30' or so. And I'm swimming almost daily 1/2 mile STRONGLY. And am happy... depression has been "disappeared" with therapy over a period of months (no meds). We pay her nothing more but she does get some (in my opinion not nearly enough) compensation from our insurance. No question the numbers prove it and i'm healthier at 80+ than in the previous 20-30 years! So, we were referred to see her.. made an appointment both my wife and I. we get there own time, fill the paperwork.. The clerk lady tells us - no dogs allowed here sir. -I tell her - our 2.5 lbs hypoallergenic poodle is a service and emotional support dogs - and we have the papers in case you want to see. we sit and wait for 35 minutes... not a word... then the same clerk lady comes out and says the Dr Heal will not see you until you put the dog away - she said she has allergic patients and she doesn't like dogs herself. Kinda dumbfounded - we repeat - she's hypoallergenic... and she's a service dog... - She says - well I'm just repeating what the doctor said... you can leave the dog in the car and come for the consultation... Our only response was to say that we wouldn't see her until she would act as physician and understood patient needs and why service animals are so important. Really disgusting to have the class of people that should be helping you heal (this doctor doesn't deserve to wear that name at all!!!) being the ones not understanding why people have animals to support they daily routine. Not sure where, but I'll look for other places to put this message across. no more referrals to this kind of people. Just unacceptable behavior in this day and age!!!! read more

The only reason I chose one star is because minus 100 is not available. Just went through the most incredible experience of my life with this Doctor and her Medical Staff. Throw away their phone number. Erase their name from you memory banks. Should not have a license to be a doctor. You have been warned.I am a post cancer patient and felt that this 'Boutique Business' would fit the bill for me. Kinda like a Doc in the Box. However, you pay a large amount of money to be in her practice month, she does nothing for you and is not a problem solver nor even a seeker of any medical condition or help you may need. I had been with her for over a year I believe, was getting ready to go to Chicago for a specialized surgery and was in need of many tests which she would not order, or ordered the wrong ones which cost me. She would get angry if you called her office and asked that they please fax medications in for you. Basically Community Hospital Employee's couldn't put it better: She's got the appeal of a sweet sugary doctor but has a sushi knife held behind her back. After 15 years of post cancer medical conditions, this is the WORST DOCTOR you could invest your time in nor count on...she will fire you without a notice and not help you to find a replacement for your care. Do not entrust your medical care with this person, she is dangerous to your health and from one visit to the next, you never know if you will be her patient or not. Not very reassuring. In my opinion, there are so many good doctors in this area, as I said, in my opinion and experience, this one should lose her license so please, please, as a former mistreated or shall I say non-treated person, look elsewhere. read more
