I went into his office for an annual check up. As Dr.Tapson was looking at my chart he mentioned I hadn't had a mammogram for a couple of years.. I am 86 and didn't think I really had a chance to have any breast problems. But went to the Breast Center and had a mammogram and a lump was discovered. Biopsied and malignant. Because the lump was small and discovered early, I didn't need Chemo, just radiation. I had that for 5 days and was done. I credit Dr.Tapson for getting me to early treatment and removal of the malignant lump, I owe him my life. Thank you forever. read more

I called to find out if Dr. Tapson was accepting new patients and if he takes Medicare. The receptionist told me his policy of receiving payment from the patient upfront and then they bill Medicare, and then Medicare bills the patients supplemental. I have never heard of this, but I wanted to understand. I asked questions, asked for clarification, tried to get numbers to go with the protocol. Probably was on the phone less than 5 minutes. The receptionist became irritated and said OMG not under her breath. I feel that was unkind and uncalled for. read more

Dr. Tapson has been my physician for almost 20 years. This included a particularly long period when I suffered from an extremely frustrating, debilitating condition that took nine years to diagnose. He never gave up in trying to find the source. Unlike many other physicians, he never attributed my illness to "anxiety" or suggested that it might be in my head. Tapson seems quite competent but I had a troubling experience with him recently. I booked a telephone consultation and was confused by some of the things he said. I asked for clarification on the portal. I thought I was talking to the Mad Hatter. Finally he confessed that he had me mixed up with another patient. That sort of mistake could be dangerous but he was quite cavalier about it. No apology, of course. read more

Wonderful first visit yesterday, which was just under an hour receiving me as new patient. Thoroughly discussed all conditions and meds. I am so happy to have found a doctor whom I can trust and is accessible. Times are not easy for physicians these days. I saw the post about his practice being "non-participating" in Medicare, but in this case, his staff files all necessary paperwork with Medicare and your supplement (if you have one) for you. You'll get reimbursed just fine and without the hassle. There is a small annual fee as well, for access to this doctor, but it is totally worth it and much less than other "concierge-type" services. read more

I just saw Dr. Tapson and I was really impressed! The office team was really good from the first phone call. They easily found me an appointment that worked for my schedule and then followed up with the forms I needed. They were genuinely nice and seemed like everyone enjoyed working there. Dr. Tapson is personable, professional, and knowledgeable. He made me feel comfortable and took a real interest in my health. The most impressive part of the visit is that he took the time to get to know me and my health, something a lot of physicians don't do anymore. A family member has had worrisome medical issues with no real answers despite hospitalizations and several doctor appointments. I traveled several hours to go to appointments. Dr. Tapson was able to get us in quickly and spent nearly an hour with us. Patiently explaining test results, and spending lots of time ensuring referral appointments were scheduled. Dr. Tapson sent my father home back in Dec 2019 when he was seriously ill. My dad hadn't eaten for two weeks and lost control of his bodily functions. He fell down two days later and was on the floor for 36 hours. He was rushed to the hospital with a broken back and arm. They missed that his cancer had returned and spread to his lungs. He went to rehab care for a week. He had a stroke. I had him sent back to the ER. We found out it was cancer all along. He died 5 weeks after seeing Dr. Tapson! If Dr. Tapson had convinced my dad to go to the ER which I couldn't do, my dad would not have had such an ordeal and had a more peaceful passing without a broken body. I will never forgive Dr. Tapson for his negligence. read more

Dr. Tapson has been very helpful and easy to reach. I have only been seeing him for a short time but so far I am very happy with him as a doctor. I have to say though that Debra shines in this office!!! She is the perfect front desk person. Every time I call she is super friendly (important when one is sick), always does what she says, gets you into an appointment quickly, and is just a super great person!!! I was initially impressed with Dr. Tapson. Then during a routine physical, I waited and waited in the exam room. After probably 30 minutes, Dr. Tapson came in. I figured it was a busy day for him. Then his cell phone rings. This is the first time I've had a doctor with a cell phone on him that wasn't at least silenced. And he took the call. Must be an emergency I thought. But no, he was just outside the exam room and I could hear him talk about what type of wine to bring on the ski trip - really!!? Then someone made me aware of the cocaine possession charges that he was facing. It would be wise for people to research Dr. Tapson further than Yelp reviews. It's too bad because I think he's smart and talented, I just don't trust his judgement though. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Dr. Tapson. He has been my primary care physician for 10 years and he is also our families concierge physician. Dr.Tapson is one of the most compassionate Physicians that has crossed my path. He spends quality time with each patient and creates a specific tailored health plan for each patient. His concierge practice has been a huge blessing to my family. My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease 7 years ago. Because of Dr. Tapson's concierge services, we were able to keep her in her home with her family, and was able to avoid a live in facility altogether. His whole office is a pleasure to work with. He has an exceptional medical team that included Barbara who is his PA and his medical assistant Cathy. The whole office works together to give a very welcoming experience, a pleasant visit, and the best medical care on the peninsula. .He practices with the highest standard of care and delivers quality medical services to all of his patients. Our community is very lucky to have such an amazing doctor in our community. I highly recommend Dr. Tapson for a primary care physician, and I really encourage considering his concierge services especially if you have family members who are not able to leave the house that much. Dr. Tapson and staff are wonderful. Your sick, feel horrible call the office and bright and lovely Debra gets you a appointment every time that day. I have never sat in his waiting room more than 5 minutes, he always listens and never rushes you out. My entire family goes to him and feels the same way. There are not enough stars to rate this amazing, compassionate and extremely competent doctor. I have been a patient of Dr. Tapson for 12 years now. I was having a hard time finding a physician that could manage my health because I had several health problems. From my initial visit, Dr. Tapson took the time to find out what was causing my problems. The front office is always helpful and it's easy to schedule urgent appointments. I signed up for his concierge services because it became difficult for me to walk and my health became hard on my wife. His home visits are detailed and focused and allowed me to continue living with my wife in our home in Carmel Valley. The office environment is always friendly, and always a joy to go to. The front office ladies ore very compassionate and always follow up with me if I am not feeling well. My wife and I have full trust in Dr. Tapson. He always acts in the best interest of my health. He is very genuine and anyone would be lucky to have him as your doctor. The ladies in the back ore really friendly and compassionate.
