Half & Half Boat with Shrimp and Fish
Eric P.

Shrimp & Fish Boat could be an amazing dish, only if they CLEANED THERE GREASE!! The fries inside the boat were soggy, maybe from hot seafood being placed on top. Their grease they prepared the fries in was clean, surprisingly. Fries are a 10/10 (if eaten while crispy) The 10 piece Chicken Wings would be okay, IF they CLEANED THEIR GREASE! The macaroni & cheese is passable, beware of the puddle of oil and/or butter at the bottom. Do not get me wrong, I like their food. When there grease is clean...lol Give them a try they won't disappoint, hopefully. The service is excellent at the pick up counter. I haven't dined in yet.

Delicious fried shrimp & French fries

I really liked this place. It's an old school Louisiana gulf seafood place. The interior is cool and they sell fresh seafood in the front which is how you know the seafood is about to be great and it was. Probably the best fried shrimp platter I've had anywhere. The seafood gumbo was actually shrimp & okra and it was not great but that is to be expected anywhere east of Morgan City honestly. But overall I would recommend coming here for the seafood.

I'm in the New Orleans area for work, and went here on a local co-worker's recommendation, and am glad I took it. This is an extremely casual place, that is both a seafood market and restaurant. I chose to lunch in. The service is friendly and familiar. I felt just as welcomed as the regulars. The menu is full of tempting selections, but knew a few things I wanted. I started off with a cup of seafood gumbo. After the first bite, I regretted not getting a bowl! Next time! It was rich and flavorful, and was clearly not rushed. Next, I also tried the chicken and andouille gumbo. Also excellent, but just slightly shy of the seafood version. The main portion of the meal was what I came for: the crawfish boil. I asked for spicy, and was informed there was only "just right," and they were correct. Initially, I was surprised that the dish came out warm, but not hot, but that, too, was just right. Oh, and the price! Usually, when you see "market price," you expect to lighten your wallet a bit, but in this case, that meant $5.99 for pound. It's crawfish season, I'm told, but still.... I'm used to paying a lot more. The decor is vintage jazz festival posters. Also, since this Women's History Month, the place is women-owned

We got the fried fish plate and crab cake plate- the sides specifically the potato salad are really good and the batter on the fish is nice and crispy The prices on their seafood is really good- some of the cheapest around town Cute little cozy hometown place Overall: 4.1- good food for good price

Had a wonderful dinner here with our son & family (they are local and come often!). Service was fast and friendly and the food was plentiful. It's an unassuming little place with lots of character and some great artwork. Hubs approved the gumbo (he's picky!) and enjoyed the chargrilled oysters. Granddaughters enjoyed their fried shrimp and mac & cheese, and several of us had shrimp poboys. Look forward to coming back when we visit again!

Oysters

Came in for lunch on a Tuesday. No wait - waitress told us the daily specials and away we ordered. They were offering a dozen oysters for $12 ($1 per) so me and my friend got 2 dozen each! Great oysters, great price. Ordered some poboys as well.

This is one of those times I'm completely perplexed with the 3.8 mediocre Yelp rating because the bustling dining room with locals at 4:30 in the afternoon, friendly service, 2023 Gambit Award, Best of New Orleans say otherwise. Oh the nay sayers! But, thanks to my Yelp buddy, Omar, and his recommendation this is our first NOLA stop! The interior screams NOLA's rich jazz history with yearly, framed and signed Jazz Festival posters adorning the walls. The well worn restaurant and the menu speaks to a the love of Cajun cuisine found here. Kenners is a restaurant and seafood market. The array of displayed blue crab - picked, whole and shucked oysters speak to the love of seafood and the local fishing industry. As typical of hubs when he's excited about trying a unique spot, he orders a little of this and a little of that. We had a sampling of all our favorites! Our thoughts: *The tamales, Delta style, were a must for this tamale lover, were the typical cigar size and great! *The seafood Gumbo was on target with its rich dark roux color, yummy shrimp and served Cajun style with half a blue crab and white rice. *The fried shrimp were delicious, perfectly cooked with a nice crispy texture and butterflied. Oh my, just perfection! Loved the jalapeño hush puppies, too - savory not sweet. *The cup of red beans and rice was warm comfort in a cup, seasoned with sausage. *The fried crab claws were slightly over cooked and were the only disappointment. Thank you Omar for the recommendation! We'll return perhaps sooner than later Cheers!

Seafood Platter
Tressette S.

My Mom and I had such a great time here. We hugged, laughed and danced with locals and staff we felt like we were with family. The food was delicious and amazing. It was of course a true Kenner experience! It was loud but we enjoyed ourselves. We had to get "to go" boxes. Grilled redfish is my favorite and they did it RIGHT! Moms got the seafood platter consisting of fish, shrimp, oysters, and crab cakes. All plates come with jalapeño hush puppies "I think" and bread and 1 or 2 sides but portions are still quite ample. Parking is around the side so don't get discouraged when you can't park in the front.

Guys, it was THE BEST CHICKEN SANDWICH I'D EVER HAD. It was lava hot, juicy, and greasy. It was also absolutely delicious. I was concerned that the thigh meat was going to taste different. But I could not tell. The fries were crinkle cut, but were seasoned well. Didn't even need ketchup for them. The place is very clean and they had 80s music playing in the background, my favorite decade of music. Not surprising, being an 80s kid. The damage all told, including a tip, was $25. Is it expensive? Yes. Is the quality and quantity of the food commensurate to the price? Also yes. Is it worth the hype? ABSOLUTELY YES. I was also informed there's a Hammond location. I will definitely bring my family there, as it's closer, to try them out as well.

This is a fantastic location! Kinda tight and almost missed it. Parking is very limited. If you get discouraged you cannot find a good parking spot. I believe you may park on back street? Do not hold me to that. Worst case, you can always get your order to go. It was our first time. We were curious about and not many restaurants offer fresh made pork cracklings. Usually you have to buy it at a local market or know someone. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They briefly went over a few recommendations. We started with of course, order of adobo fresh pork cracklings. Adobo or traditional** crispy pork belly, adobo sauce, topped with garlic peanut rub Southerns Queso burger - 6 oz. beef patty*, pickled jalapeño, queso, beer battered onion ring with order of fries. Tender meal - Choose your spice level. 3 jumbo chicken tenders, fries, and tender sauce. (Mild) Southerns Original Chicken Sandwich - Choose your spice level. Boneless chicken thigh, Yuzu aioli, slaw, housemade pickle. (Mild) I was curious about the Phuket Sauce. So I got an order too. This tastes great! Not spicy at all. Do not let the pepper fool you. It has a little kick but not spicy at all. All are well seasoned. Few of them you can choose your spice level. We all washed down with fountain drinks. They do offer catering services and possibly call ahead ordering. Please reach out to them for options. If you are in the mood for something different but great food. Give them a try if in the area.

In a large shopping center. So parking is not an issue. They have plenty of parking that surrounds them. They have bunch of handicapped parking spots in the front with ramp on the right side. They do have a few steps in front for easy access. As you walk in, you are greeted by the staff. They mention that someone will be with us shortly. We went on a Sunday before it got crowded. They said we lucked out. They usually get busy when local churches get out. We quickly paid for our table and advised us we welcome to sit anywhere we like. They said they offer many discounts available. Please ask before paying. We sat at a table near the front of the restaurant and easy access to the buffet. They mainly have large tables with hard wood seats and no padding. The waitress quickly took our drink order. Started out with an Arnold Palmer. Rare that they offer that. I don't know so far that another restaurant that offers this. And an ice water. She mentioned that they offer a small selection of beer? We declined. (Drink responsibly) The first plate was sample plate to get my lay of the land. Unfortunately my first plate was full. I noticed that they offer gumbo. So I had to come back for another plate. No offense, the cup was not enough. I was surprised that they served fried swai not catfish. The cornbread was delicious! Usually they are dry at most places. Maybe they been sitting out so long they dry out. This is not the case with them. The gumbo was seasoned just right. It is only chicken and sausage gumbo. Not seafood. Usually you can tell when it is freshly made. To me, it not only look good but taste great! Unfortunately they did not have ice box cake available. Few of the reviews mentioned to definitely grab a piece. However, they did have freshly made bread pudding and chocolate delight. Both were delicious! I could go on about the food. I digress. Anyway, Harbor Seafood has been our go to place for many years, however, we went in early March and was very disappointed.. so, we decided to try other places for a while before giving them another chance. It paid off, the issue we had last time was a cold oyster po-boy, and a young lady server who seemed to feel we were bothering her, instead of providing decent service. Past is the past, we went back on this last trip while in NOLa for the last 3 saints games (another disappointment, but that's another story) This time my po- boy was hot and tasty, and my wife had the blackened snapper. Both excellent! Only thing to mention is it was a late Sunday after the game, the bread did not seem as fresh as it should be, considering it's Sunday, I understand. Also had grilled oysters, as good as anywhere!! And of course, had to have some boiled shrimp! Glad we went back and will see them again in Nov for the next home game!!

Great meal! Another bookmark checked off!…read more I stopped in for a quick solo lunch while in NOLA. It was pretty busy for a weekday lunch and it seemed the bartender was the only one serving the restaurant full of folks. I posted up at the bar thinking it would be my fastest option. He was damn efficient I have to say. He got me taken care of and in and out in no time. He even took time to answer some of my questions about the menu. It's your typical New Orleans place on the inside. Lots of random art, some awards for Ron, and a bunch of signed dollar bills pasted on the wall. I got the Yumbo Mumbo Gumbo, that's the Gumbo with fried shrimp added. Holy hell it was good! I realize that blasphemous, and kind of an oxymoron as well. I don't care, it was fucking fantastic!!! I cannot wait to come back here again! It will be a regular stop from here on out when I am down in the land before time. Come and get you some! A little later, another waiter came to the hostess station, looked at me, and then she finally told him I was there for a to-go order. The service was bad, but unfortunately, the food was even worse. My gumbo had been sitting under the hostess station, and when I got it, it was COLD and extremely bland. It had more celery than anything else. I honestly don't understand these reviews because either they haven't had good gumbo before or we definitely have very different standards. This was hands down one of the worst gumbos I've ever eaten. I make gumbo waaaaay better than this myself! Definitely a waste of money, and I would not visit here again.
