I chose to lunch in. The service is friendly and familiar. I felt just as welcomed as the regulars. The menu is full of tempting selections, but knew a few things I wanted. I started off with a cup of seafood gumbo. After the first bite, I regretted not getting a bowl! Next time! It was rich and flavorful, and was clearly not rushed. Next, I also tried the chicken and andouille gumbo. Also excellent, but just slightly shy of the seafood version. The main portion of the meal was what I came for: the crawfish boil. I asked for spicy, and was informed there was only "just right," and they were correct. Initially, I was surprised that the dish came out warm, but not hot, but that, too, was just right. Oh, and the price! Usually, when you see "market price," you expect to lighten your wallet a bit, but in this case, that meant $5.99 for pound. It's crawfish season, I'm told, but still.... Had a wonderful dinner here with our son & family (they are local and come often!). Service was fast and friendly and the food was plentiful. It's an unassuming little place with lots of character and some great artwork. Hubs approved the gumbo (he's picky!) and enjoyed the chargrilled oysters. We had the Seafood Platter. Food delivery arrived hot. The fried fish was surprisingly tasty, like it was just caught. No taste of old fryer oil. Nice light batter, well seasoned. Kenner Seafood is the closest great restaurant to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. They have a lot of great seafood and plenty of other non-seafood options here. You get huge portions for good prices in this unassuming looking joint. They have a seafood market in the front and the restaurant is in the back. You can get boiled seafood, fried seafood and all manner of other preparations of seafood. They have poboys of many types along with a large menu of many other non-seafood items. The service is typically really great and you can also sit at the bar for even better service. The ambiance is uniquely Louisiana with seafood and Louisiana specific themes all over the place. Came here for lunch. The server was very nice, but half of the meals at the table were incorrect and several of us were out of drinks for a while. The fried artichoke hearts was a very unique dish that was pretty good. And the fried shrimp were delicious. But the peas that were supposed to be steamed were so soft and dull that I can only assume they were boiled, canned peas. Not yummy. The grilled redfish was okay. The Cajun potatoes were not spicy (as the menu indicated), nor were they well seasoned. But they weren't terrible. It was a very "okay" meal. I was returning to the airport for my flight home but decided to get something to eat before leaving New Orleans. Up pops Kenner Seafood and this is a local seafood market and restaurant. When you walk in there are refrigerator display cases with tons of Crab. Yup, I'm in the right place. The actual restaurant is in the back and a very nice lady directed me to any table. Here's where things took a turn. The young lady waiting on me was not rude but unengaging. I ordered the Monday special which was two stuffed crabs and two sides. She took my order but either she was having a bad day or just lacked a personality. No explanation about the menu or specials. I did notice another waitress who was very engaging with her tables. Very friendly. I wish I had her, but I digress. Moving on. Food... sides were fine but the stuffed crabs were 95% stuffing and that's generous. I searched desperately for any kind of seafood in the stuffing but all I could come up with was stuffing. Well, time to leave. The interior screams NOLA's rich jazz history with yearly, framed and signed Jazz Festival posters adorning the walls. The well worn restaurant and the menu speaks to a the love of Cajun cuisine found here. Kenners is a restaurant and seafood market. The array of displayed blue crab - picked, whole and shucked oysters speak to the love of seafood and the local fishing industry. As typical of hubs when he's excited about trying a unique spot, he orders a little of this and a little of that. We had a sampling of all our favorites! Our thoughts: *The tamales, Delta style, were a must for this tamale lover, were the typical cigar size and great! *The seafood Gumbo was on target with its rich dark roux color, yummy shrimp and served Cajun style with half a blue crab and white rice. *The fried shrimp were delicious, perfectly cooked with a nice crispy texture and butterflied. As we were leaving the airport, this spot caught our attention because they had **crab fingers**--and as a serious crab lover, I had to check it out! We called ahead to place an order, and the woman who answered was so welcoming. You could just hear the warmth in her voice--classic southern hospitality. The order only took about 5 minutes, which was super convenient. Now, the crab fingers themselves were good, but I wasn't totally in love with the crust or batter. It was much harder than I expected, and that kind of threw me off a bit. While the flavor was there, the texture just wasn't quite my style. My Mom and I had such a great time here. We hugged, laughed and danced with locals and staff we felt like we were with family. The food was delicious and amazing. It was of course a true Kenner experience! It was loud but we enjoyed ourselves. We had to get "to go" boxes. Grilled redfish is my favorite and they did it RIGHT! Moms got the seafood platter consisting of fish, shrimp, oysters, and crab cakes. All plates come with jalapeño hush puppies "I think" and bread and 1 or 2 sides but portions are still quite ample. We stopped here on our last night in NOLA. It was rather by accident as we were planning to go to Dragos but met up with a friend who wanted to join but needed to be close to the airport. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Our drinks stayed full and it had a homey atmosphere. They may have been the best oysters I have ever had. We enjoyed the Rockefeller (my favorite served with buttered French toast) the grilled (buttered Parmesan) Boudain balls and Boudain link. The Boudain balls were good but the Boudain link was better. It was served warm but was not in the normal sausage casing. I will be back again. I also tried the seafood gumbo and fried crab fingers and mozzarella sticks. All of it for ~$80. read more

Myself and a work colleague had lunch at Kenner Seafood. It's a hidden gem. Definitely not a tourist spot. Speckled trout, grilled redfish, shrimp and crabs populate the menu. A good local spot close to the airport. We thought the red beans & rice was great, spicy! We also loved the jalapeño hush puppies. We loved the flavor and portion size of the grilled redfish but were disappointed that it was overcooked. We were also disappointed that the "steamed green beans" had no flavor and seemed to be from a can. Why not fresh, whole green beans? We also found it odd that they charged $1 for refills of sodas - everyone knows fountain drinks cost next to nothing per serving. This place is an absolute hidden gem. When you walk in and immediately see all of the fresh catch, and shrimp and crawfish ready to go, you know you've hit the jackpot. They are located just a 4 min drive from the airport, and they are actually on the same road as the terminals. We were in hurry to get to the airport, and they got us served quickly. We had the seafood platter, crawfish Monica, oysters rockefeller, and boiled crawfish. All were served with big portions, and were cooked to perfection. Can you seafood is always packed for a reason a very nice family restaurant with reasonable prices and pretty OK food I truly enjoyed their char grill, blue crabs and their char grilled snow crabs. Those are my two favorite options on their menu. I also enjoy their seafood salad you get a nice portion of seafood. When it comes to service, they are usually packed.
