I had a great experience at Kennaland. My hair was in desperate need of highlights...winter had definitely it's toll. Thankfully Jehnna gave me beautiful natural looking beachy highlights--exactly what I wanted. Julie also listened to what I wanted in a haircut--she gave me an easy to maintain long bob with just a few layers. I will definitely be back! read more

When you're on set and your Key Make-Up asks you who cut your hair... enough said!!! Julie rocked my curls, referred me to some great products, and is just a great human being to talk to. read more

I have been to a number of other salons in the neighborhood, but this one takes the cake! Cool space and friendly conversation but the difference was Davey- he looked at my reference shots, understood my vision, listened to my feedback and the result - a great cut that suits me and makes me feel refreshed! Thanks so much and I'll be back to visit for some color by Jenna! read more

Kennaland - Haircut by Davie - Hair Salons Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Such a great salon with exceptional customer service. Highly recommend!

I live in Greenpoint and have walked past Kennaland's discreet storefront many times, but didn't think twice about it until a friend highly recommend them to me. Everyone here was warm and friendly and made me feel welcome upon entering the salon. Davey did a fantastic job with very little direction from my end. He turned my overgrown dull hair into a flattering sleek layered cut that highlights my face in a way that I wouldn't have been able to articulate myself. I'm beyond happy with the services provided and will definitely return. read more

I've always had an amazing experience at Kennaland with Julie. Love her so much my mom drives up from Philadelphia now to get her hair done. Truly gives you a cut and color that you can live in and works perfectly with your hair texture etc. I will never let anyone else touch my head! read more

Many hours of research to find the right blonde specialist in NYC led me to Laura Estroff at Kennaland. In short--I was not disappointed--Laura is absolutely incredible. I came in with terribly warm, brassy hair that had been ombré and then highlighted over [very poorly], and she transformed it into an amazingly beautiful bright, cool-toned blonde. It's just perfect and stunning and the compliments keep rolling in. I cannot recommend Laura highly enough. If you're like me and need to research obsessively before a big hair change, save yourself some time and stop here because Laura is simply the best. And bonus points for Kennaland being a super cozy, chill spot that's quite nice to spend many hours in while you wait for your hair to turn colors. Thank you Laura! Looking forward to my next visit already :). read more

I've been living in NYC for close to 4 years, and have yet to find a salon or stylist that I return to for a second time. That is, until I found Kennaland. I saw Julie for a full balayage and hair cut about a month ago, and was absolutely OBSESSED with the results. She gave me the bright blonde hair I was looking for and added some long layers for extra bounce I'll definitely be coming back for a second time! read more

First time seeing Kenna and the experience was unmatched. He spent time getting to know my hair history and explained what he thought would achieve the best results. Not only was the haircut perfection, but he also gave me a lot of tips for styling at home. Worth every penny. read more

Do you need a color?! Are you feeling drab?! Is S.A.D. bringing you down?! Or are you reading this in like 6 months and its warm and you want to look beach ready?! GO TO LAURA! She is THE best colorist. I have followed her from shop to shop and could not recommend her highly enough. She took my boxed auburn-red colored hair to a chocolate to blonde ombre that looked like she just lightly brought up my tips on my virgin hair, to this day I have no idea how she did this, but SHE DID and you could no longer tell I was trying to be a redhead. if you need to get your hair colored do not trust anyone else. Go to Laura! read more

I went to Kennaland for the very first time and stylist Amy Bradbury did such an amazing job. I went in for a whole new style and she nailed exactly what I wanted! Definitely going back! read more

This is for Davey: note. I hadn't cut my hair in probably 8-10 months, so it had that straggly #pleaseyoulooklikeamop physique to it and I was finally ready to shell out the dough... Glad I did. Davey has an eye for the shape of your face and he just said trust me, here's what we're going to do: and worked the magic. I'm really happy with the layers and shape, it moves!! Finally. Trust him. It will be worth your time. read more

Love Lisa! She does such a great job on my hair. Always looks so fresh when I walk out of the salon and grows out beautifully. Also, love the free bang trims. Definitely recommend! read more

Had a great experience at Kennaland. It's just my kind of studio, not over done or too ritzy. Just a cool, artsy vibe, where the focus is on taking care of you. I saw Jenna M and I immediately could tell that she was extremely knowledgeable and a seasoned pro. She totally took what I said and put it into a plan. I actually got a compliment from a hair pro the other day regarding my color. She did a beautiful job. read more

I tend to try a new hairstylist around the neighborhood or in Williamsburg every few years when I feel like I'm in a rut with my hair. After seeing Kennaland's sign outside many, many times and finally checking out all the reviews on Yelp, I decided to give them a try. Setting up a new appointment was super easy, and I was able to get in within a week. I saw Davey. The salon itself is clean, bright, and cool. The front desk staff was friendly, and the choice of free beverages a bonus. Davey was quick with the cut and styling after and knew exactly what to do. I was happy with my cut, and I'll be going back! read more

Lisa is the sweetest. She was so patient with my insane pandemic hair and brought bit back to life: cut, color and condition!

Always the best here!! Everyone who works here is so lovely, and my hair always comes out perfect!

This salon is a real find! Yesterday I experienced not only two professionals but two Artists. Nina colored my hair and the results were so beautiful and absolutely natural - would never know it's not my natural color. And Jeff styled my hair and gave me a fabulous cut Precise and to Perfection! When I left, they had managed to take ten years off my life! Thank you to both of you!!! Yvonne E. read more

With CoVid altering salon access, I developed a Cruella DeVille hair color (due to lack of professional color). Since it was really time to address this, I got a recommendation & decided to try Kennaland. Lucky for me! I rarely write Google reviews, but feel positively compelled since I had such a great 5-star experience!!! My colorist, Nina was truly exceptional: professional, expert, thorough (discussion for color goals & then w/her vigilant technique + follow through), delightful, fully CoVid compliant, & the results were/are spectacular! Additionally, Kennaland was totally clean: constantly sanitized (for CoVid) by staff & had a wonderful "vibe". Great space, too... Yes, (even w/my mask): I'll definitely return & MOST certainly will ask for an appointment w/Nina! CoVid may have entirely changed my socializing, but my hair looks FAB on Zoom!? Thank you, Nina! You are amazing & so is Kennaland! read more

Leslie gave me a fantastic haircut. The salon takes their covid precautions seriously which I appreciate. I'll definitely be back.

I am in love with my hair. Galloway did the color and Amy did the cut. I feel like I finally got the perfect blonde and the perfect bob. I feel like a chic, gorgeous, cool milf. It's growing out beautifully. The most important thing about a salon visit for me is the vibe. These two are so fun and kind and positive!! Shandi (AD-MIN!!!) is a total doll, too. Kenna walked in while I was paying and was all like "Oooh gorgeous hair!" I found my hair home! read more

Davey gave me an amazing haircut + blowout! Also I was in and out in about 1 hour. I loved my cut on the spot and I have been loving my hair since (about 3 weeks now). I will be back read more

I've been looking for the right salon for a long time and I finally found it. The stylists are so talented (Amy cut my hair and Jenna did a color consult and both actually listened to what I wanted and had perfect ideas on how to execute) and the overall vibe is laid back and warm. Cannot recommend it enough! read more

Seriously blown away by the quality cut and color I received today! Manager Shandi was accommodating, kind, and professional. Colorist Lauren really listened to what I wanted in my color and helped remove so much brassiness. Haircut by Amy who was so quick and also gave me some cute curls for a party later. Also assisted by James and Davey who were spot on! I will definitely be back!!!!! Thanks so much to everyone for a relaxing day that made me feel beautiful! read more

Davey has one more sense than the rest of us. He looked at my tragic hair, devastated by home haircuts executed with craft scissors, with much less judgement than it warranted. I was nervous and unsure and he brought my hair to the promised land with only the slightest vague direction. He saw my hair's potential and gave me a sexy, layered, Texas oil tycoon's underage wife look. It made me cry a little on my walk home because it was so so good and I recommend him to everyone I know. read more

Davey is an absolute genius, and has given me, consecutively and without fail, the best haircuts I've ever had.

Absolutely love this place and the people there! Kennaland's stylists and colorists are top-notch talents, and they and the front desk staff are always welcoming and down to earth. They always seem chill and composed, whereas I've definitely been to other NYC salons where the employees seem harried and stressed. This goes a long way as far as your experience as a client. The decór as well is super cool and creates a relaxing, comfortable environment. Walking in I always feel like this place is my Cheers, and I always walk out looking fresh and fabulous. read more

I have been here a few times. They always give great service and I'm happy with the color and cut. It is pricier than your average salon but it's worth it. The last time I was there the color was not what I had expected. The manager Shandi communicated with me to come back and have it fixed the way I wanted. The entire service was comped and I was very happy with the end result. She even followed up a few days later. That's why it's worth it to pay more for quality experience and professionals who care about your end result and satisfaction. read more

Let Laura Estroff be henceforth be known as "the Alchemist" for her scrupulous colouring talents--dedicating close to 5 hrs of processing yesterday--to bring my natural level 3 roots with 3-4" of regrowth to a surprisingly natural-looking and multidimensional level 8 blonde. Not only does Kennaland exude an industrial/reclaimed cool in its decor but the pricing structure is holistic (i.e. they don't nickel 'n' dime you every step of the way, or because those extra 2 or 3 foils bumped up your service from a "partial" to a half): my whole/full head 'revamp' included a single process base color to soften the regrowth, balayage of the mid-shaft through the ends, partial face-framing foils, and no fewer than 3 glazes/toners. All for about the same, or less, than what most salons would charge for a full head of foils to start! Talk about bang for your buck! It's certainly not 'cheap' but neither the quality nor the value of what you paid for would ever be questioned. The ladies there are absolute dolls--Shandy, the receptionist, went so far as to send me home with a travel sample of the hair product that I wanted to purchase, simply because they had run out of retail bottles to sell. As for the color, the results speak for themselves: in the past 24 hours alone I've been complimented by a) a random strangler who flagged me down in line at the post office, and b) my persnickety mother who has never, in my 15+ years of dying my hair, expressed direct approval of my styling choices. There you have it, folks: GO see Laura. Today. read more

Brooklyn post industrial cool. Davey knows how to cut hair. And made a non-hipster feel welcome. Complimentary beer very refreshing. Will go again read more

I am basically an anxious spaz that feels out of place everywhere I go. Just the idea of going to a trendy hair salon is enough to send me into a panic. My trip to Kennaland, however, was so pleasant and comfortable that I forgot to feel self-conscious. Alex put me immediately at ease and was the perfect combination of a good listener, interpreter and brilliant idea suggester. I neglect my hair. It's not that I don't want it to look great...I just can't bring myself to put the work in. So, when I came to Alex he had his work cut out for him. Frazzled ends, outgrown roots ( including some stubborn grey) and all over general dull, drabness. Nevertheless, I walked out with amazing hair, thanks to a great cut and absolutely beautiful ombré color that has gotten me countless compliments! Alex hand painted the color in like the true artist he is. There was no sense of a rush, he was all about getting it just right. Oh, and he used this magic blonding color (he said it was brand new) that miraculously did not seem to dry out or damage my hair at all! I swear that in spite of a significant lightening in color, my hair was softer and shinier. I live in Greenpoint, so Kennaland is an easy walk for me, but I would gladly travel if I had to for the experience I had. Great cut, amazing (non-damaging!) color and a pleasant, relaxing afternoon. I would recommend Alex at Kennaland to anyone. read more

I've been seeing Amy (and occasionally Kenna!) for haircuts for about five years and they're both amazing. The studio is clean and comfy, the prices are reasonable, it's super easy to schedule, and they never push products. They're even doing my wedding party's hair! Love these guys; the chillest. read more

My new go-to! Amy is lovely. Usually, I want to race home and restyle my hair after I get a cut but I hope what Amy did this morning lasts for days! The space is also really well appointed. Fits right in with the neighborhood. read more

I had been dying my hair red for over 15 years. I had been wanting to go back to my natural color for YEARS but knew it was going to be a long process (I'm naturally a dark blonde). I booked an appointment with Laura on a whim, and I am absolutely THRILLED with the result. Laura took the time to listen to what I wanted (and didn't want) and then spent hours bleaching and toning to get a beautiful, multi-dimensional blonde/brown/auburn mix. Two months later and I'm still getting compliments on my hair. The price was right and absolutely worth it to me. The salon was charming and quiet (on a weekend morning, no less). Thank you, Laura! read more

Love them. Simply the best. Have been coming here to get my hair cut by Davey since I moved to Greenpoint and will continue to do so. I came to Kennaland to see Jehnna after a truly terrible bought of unfortunate hair color mishaps--and after losing most of my hair post-pregnancy. She not only gave me the most brilliant color, but sorted out my haircare routine. Two weeks later, my hair is far healthier and on its way to getting its former shine back. Could NOT be happier. read more

Are you already sweating with anxiety at the prospect of putting your hair into the hands of strangers? Have you suffered from past humiliations and shame post hair salon visits, that it was enough to drive you, oh untrained and desperate ones, to even pick up scissors yourself, even though you didn't know what the hell you were doing, but the only recompense was only having yourself to blame? You are not alone my friend. But I'm here to reassure you, that you can put that behind you, and you can finally grow up, and trust some incredible artists. I really believe that a good business is good at every aspect that one engages in, and this is certainly true at Kennaland. From my first phone call, when I was received by a genuinely friendly and relaxed person who could not have put me more at ease, whose demeanor and positivity were enough to make me spin the wheel of hair fortune, come what may. They fit me in at the last minute and that day I got an appointment with Amy. First Rosy washed my hair and she was super cool and friendly and relaxing. Then I met Amy, showed her some pics I wanted to reference, and she took it all in quickly and understood the vibe I was going for. She was easy and breezy and no nonsense, and in no time, and to my surprise, my hair was cut. And wait, it's not a disaster, and wait, am i tripping balls or does it actually look (spoiler alert) GOOD!? Amy was great, and being at this salon felt the opposite of other places I've been in the past, because this place cares, and they don't need to pretend to be cool, because they actually ARE cool. Would I go back? YES. And I'd love to try Laura for color next time. So if you've read your zillionth hair salon review, now you can stop. Take a breath. Make an appt. You're welcome. PS- It also doesn't hurt that my man keeps saying how sexy my hair looks ;) OOp read more
