I gave this salon a second chance because my first visit was about 70% of the way there. The first…read morevisit, it was still too dark and the line of demarcation was visible, but it was close enough that I thought with a little feedback we'd get to the result I wanted. Instead, the second visit was worse. I brought reference photos and clearly explained that I wanted the color lighter and warmer. Instead, I left with an even darker, splotchy gloss and the same visible line of demarcation. When I pointed this that the color was not what I requested, I was repeatedly told it "looked good" and would fade instead of fixing it while I was still in the chair. Throughout the appointment I kept hearing about how busy the stylist was and that she had no idea how I'd been squeezed into the schedule. As a paying client who booked in advance, I shouldn't feel like an inconvenience. During my first visit I explained I was recovering from a concussion. Before this appointment, I explained I'd recently been in the ER because of neck issues and couldn't comfortably lean back at the shampoo bowl. I said I didn't mind getting a little wet if it helped. Instead, the back of my dress was completely soaked. The stylist joked that she'd "never gotten anyone this wet before," said she'd dry it, then walked away within seconds and left me sitting there soaked. The stylist also didn't bother drying enough of my hair to properly check the final color before I left. The atmosphere was equally strange. One stylist greeted me with a hug when I walked in despite only having met me once before. It all felt overly familiar and performative rather than client-focused. Why hug me? We aren't friends, and frankly - I don't like you. I don't mind paying premium NYC salon prices. What I expect in return is technical skill, attention to detail, and someone who listens to what I'm asking for. Instead, I felt like the salon projected confidence while missing very basic fundamentals. Listening to the client, executing the service properly, and checking the finished result shouldn't be optional. I'm genuinely not sure why so many NYC salons cultivate this kind of self-important atmosphere. It doesn't feel client-focused, it feels like you're expected to trust the stylist unquestioningly, even when the technical execution falls short. I'm not looking for a refund. I'm sharing this so other clients know what my experience was before they book. I won't be following up with any outreach or response.

Hands down best hair experience I've had in Brooklyn, Queens or Nassau County in a years !!…read moreMy first( def not last) experience with Gina & Princess was when I called the salon on a Sunday afternoon during 4th of July weekend after I got a last minute invite to take a mini vacation with friends . The only thing holding me back was my mess of hair. I had put off doing color, cut, extensions. ..EVERYTHING and it showed. I ran to Yelp & Google looking for a salon with positive reviews and Sunday hours. It seemed like everyone in Brooklyn/ Queens area was closed, closing or "too booked" to even let me finish asking for an appointment. I was getting pretty discouraged until I found Adorn Salon .Wow ! Talk about good luck ..I couldn't have asked for more professional and kind treatment from the first call until I left the salon later that day. I was invited in that same day with no problem about it being a Sunday afternoon. The salon itself was nicely decorated, clean and roomy with a nice positive vibe. Very friendly & comfortable. Gina and Princess were both excellent hair artists and worked well together to make my experience at Adorn perfect in every way. I got my hair trimmed & colored and loved it. Then my hair extensions got colored two gorgeous shades that matched my hair perfectly (Gina, you're amazing). The extensions were sewn in quickly, painlessly and flawless by Princess ! Im writing this 3 weeks later & the extensions are still lookin great. Amazing. The staff and other customers in the salon all made the time fly by with good conversation and humor. The entire hair appointment was a pleasure and I couldn't be happier with my hair and my mini vacation. I highly recommend Adorn Salon & am looking forward to my next visit.
