Last week (12/11/16) I woke up to a cold house. I checked the thermostat and it was calling for heat but the furnace was not running. I looked and it was showing a code for an inoperable flame sensor. I have had this problem a couple years ago and all that was needed was to clean the sensor. I cleaned it, and the furnice still didn't run. I removed it and called the shop to see if they had one in stock. I was asked to come in so they could look at the sensor. Upon entering the front door, the receptionist asked to see the part and said that it looked OK to her but would show Ken and see if he thought it was good. Ken came out, we talked about what was happening to the furnace and what I had already done and said that it could probably be cleaned up some more and took it to the back to clean it. When he came back a few minutes later and handed it to me. He also told me a few things to check out and he also gave me prices for the parts that may need to be replaced. When I got home I put the part in and the furnace fired right up and has worked since. The personal attention that I received was top notch and something I haven't seen in a long time from any company. I WILL be going back if needed for service or parts and if any of my friends ask who I would recommend, I will recommend Ken Hardin heating. read more

Ken Hardin Refrigeration heating and air conditioning is one of the absolute worst service companies in Flint Michigan (or anywhere for that matter. They do shoddy work, do NOT stand behiond any reasonable guarantee, and will give you the run-around if a refund for uncompleted work is requested. I didn;t believe other reviews myself and now find myself in the same position. Paid for services that subpar would be an understatement and now must resort to legal action. Do yourself a hugh favor and refer to ripoffreport and look at other reviews found onine before hiring their services. Hire them today ONLY if you do not mind hiring someone else tomorrow to do the job correctly. read more

Update 4/21/17: I now have to pay another contractor $923 to remedy the mess that Ken Hardin has left for me. What a TERRIBLE disappointment it has been to have Ken Hardin Refridgeration Heating & Air Conditioning install my furnace. They no longer reply to me, or even to the state of Michigan licensing department. !! Re: DON'T do it!!! I hired them to install a furnace this summer (an outdoor packaged unit). First, they left my yard a mess, with scraps of metal, wood and plastic all over. Also, several cigarette butts, and a huge wad of thermostat wire which I found later by it getting caught in my weed whacker. I wrote to them, but was ignored. THEN, when I turned on the heat (for which they had forgot to turn on the gas) I found that my ductwork was leaking bad, warming up my backyard nicely (not good). I contacted them several times over the past month, and they have come out only twice, neither time checking their work, and leaving each time with it still leaking. It seems that once they get their money, you can forget about them completing the job. UPDATE: It's been 33 days, and each time I call them I am rtodl they will be out the next day. They've only been out 3 times, and never have they checked their work,a and never have they stopped the air leaks. Well, time to add more. It's been over three months since I last heard from them. I have now gotten Lennox and the Sate of Michigan involved, but so far Ken Hardin has not come to complete the job. I did learn one interesting thing. GET A RECEIPT before paying. They would not give me a final receipt, and now I know why. They never got a permit!!! If they give a receipt, the State would know they did the job and could more easily hold them accountable. read more
