I looked and it was showing a code for an inoperable flame sensor. I have had this problem a couple years ago and all that was needed was to clean the sensor. I cleaned it, and the furnice still didn't run. I removed it and called the shop to see if they had one in stock. I was asked to come in so they could look at the sensor. Upon entering the front door, the receptionist asked to see the part and said that it looked OK to her but would show Ken and see if he thought it was good. Ken came out, we talked about what was happening to the furnace and what I had already done and said that it could probably be cleaned up some more and took it to the back to clean it. When he came back a few minutes later and handed it to me. He also told me a few things to check out and he also gave me prices for the parts that may need to be replaced. When I got home I put the part in and the furnace fired right up and has worked since. The personal attention that I received was top notch and something I haven't seen in a long time from any company. I WILL be going back if needed for service or parts and if any of my friends ask who I would recommend, I will recommend Ken Hardin heating.

In June 2023, I bought a 2002 square-foot Tudor style home that was built in 1929. I really wanted…read morecentral air-conditioning, but knew it would be problematic because of the plaster ceiling and walls. Not only that, but I have a boiler and radiator heating system system and I wasn't willing to replace it in lieu of a furnace for central air and heat. I did get one bid and that was for mini splits only and then only in 2 bedrooms upstairs and one unit in the dining room. The price was astronomical and I thought I would be resigned to using portable air-conditioning units during the hot months. That was, until I found Jeff. We scheduled an appointment for a free estimate, and he determined that he could install central air conditioning in all four bedrooms and the bathroom upstairs by placing the air-conditioning unit in my attic. The other company I had give me an estimate never even thought of that concept. The possibility of having central air downstairs wasn't an option because of a number of different obstacles. I have two mini splits downstairs, situated in rooms that will allow for maximum cooling of every room on the lower level. Tyler, Ethan, Hunter, and Jeff, himself, were meticulous and took pride in their workmanship. They went to great lengths to ensure that my flooring was covered and everything was cleaned up at the end of the day. I've had a lot of work done at my house since last June, and this crew was the most polite, thorough, and hardworking as I've seen! I would give Optimal Heating and Cooling 100 stars if I could!

Steve proceeded to scope our flue (which I was able to watch on his computer screen) and there were soo many breaks in our flue, we were very nervous. He proceeded to inspect the chimney box (which needed repair also) and then when his crew went up to the top of our exterior chimney, he found that the previous owner had put in face brick instead of actual brick. All of this needed replacing and then in 2 subsequent visits, cleaned (Poultice Creosote Remover) and added FireGuard (a ceramic mortar joint and resurfacing system) to the entire flue and did Crowncoat on the top. And, as a extra benefit, screened the top. We are soo happy with CJW and their service - we will always refer people to your company. So many companies either did not call back or didn't show up for the appointment. Every step of the way, they were professional, explained everything in detail and was very friendly. Thank you!!
