We contracted with Ken Garland on a major, almost down to the studs renovation just before COVID-19 started. The first week went well, and then everything shut down for several months. For that, I hold nothing against Ken. But when work resumed its was long, slow, arduous, and of very poor quality. Multiple calls were met with few responses. In the 10-month long renovation, Ken spent no more than a total of an hour on site, supervising or inspecting. Very few things (the tile, shower door and hardwood floors) were done properly, without multiple returns to fix or arguments that no fixing was necessary. And, he charged a premium for this level of service. His worst sub was the electrician whom we fired mid renovation, and the 2nd was his painter, Skill Pro and specifically Tom. Ken spent hours arguing with me that they didn't and would never paint over wall paper, despite me pulling off the electrical covers and showing him the wallpaper. Doors and windows were left open for weeks during August, rain came in thru open windows, and the someone repeatedly urinated on the master bathroom floor.
We have paid other contractors to come back and renovate his renovation. FG3 is doing a great job supervising, most rooms have been repainted to great result (done correctly the first time, and on schedule) by Hector Sanchez.
