I had a lot of issues with my prior condo so when i bought a new home, i opted to have an active Home Warranty. American Home Shield seemed a better value than others so I opted for it. Basically how it works is you pay a monthly fee then all service visits are $100 for each case flat fee. There's some exceptions but that's the gist of it. It's there to cover all appliances, AC to a certain extent, other home issues. I've had several issues with my stove and with my refrigerator and every time the service vendors came out and efficiently fixed the issues. Communication is great also. The only time I felt was a ripoff was the $99 AC tuneup which was mostly a sales pitch by their vendor to sell a hospital grade AC system...no thanks. Overall do i think paying into this home warranty is a better deal than not paying into one and dealing with various repairman individually? I do and American Home Shield delivers on that promise. read more

My recent experience with American Home Shield (AHS) has been extremely disappointing and frustrating. After my garage door repair claim was approved, I was instructed by the American Home Shield contractor to pay $885.00 out of pocket, with the assurance that American Home Shield had approved the reimbursement as confirmed by an American Home Shield representative by way of a telephone speaker. I also have email documentation from American Home Shield confirming that the $885.00 would be refunded to my Visa credit card. That refund never arrived. After multiple calls, I was told the refund would instead be sent by check within 14-21 days. That check was never issued either. Now I am told, it will take 30 business days from 7-23-2026 to receive my refund of $885.00. A reasonable person would feel that this is a delay tactic and ingrained in American Home Shield's practices and process; all to avoid a refund payment as well as a means to dissuade a customer causing increased frustration unnecessarily. The situation became even more frustrating when a customer service representative told me I could use the AHS mobile app to choose whether I wanted the refund credited back to my Visa card or mailed by check. After thoroughly searching the app, I discovered no such option existed. Another AHS representative later confirmed that the app has no feature allowing customers to make that selection to credit my original payment via my credit card on file or send me a check for $885.00. I believe I was given inaccurate and misleading information that caused unnecessary delays and wasted my time. Since then, I have spent countless minutes to hours making follow-up calls, enduring excessive hold times, being transferred between departments, and even being transferred to silent phone lines where no one answered. This is all documented by way of email message, etc. Despite repeated promises and written/verbal confirmation that my reimbursement was approved and sent on 7-2-2026, I have still not received my $885.00 refund as of 7-22-2026. I have retained email documentation and other indisputable proof confirming the approved reimbursement, along with records of my repeated attempts to resolve this matter. Based on my experience, American Home Shield's customer service and Cash-in-Lieu department has been unreliable, disorganized, and inconsistent in their responses and messaging; all giving rise to the questionable practices that any reasonable person, especially a consumer, would consider as a major issue or deceptive delay tactic by a business. Consumers should be able to rely on a company's written commitments without having to repeatedly chase a refund that has already been approved. Until American Home Shield honors its written commitment and promptly issues my $885.00 reimbursement, I cannot recommend this company in addition to escalating my complaint by contacting consumer protection agencies to investigate this matter. I hope American Home Shield improve their customer service and Cash-in-Lieu practices and reimbursement process so other customers do not experience the same frustration and waste of time with misleading and delayed tactics in refunding my $885.00 by American Home Shield's representatives who stated to me that they know this is frustrating for me, but yet, continued the practice of furthering, for weeks, payment of my $885.00 refund to me who has been a customer making monthly payments for a very longtime. read more

I wish I would have seen all of these bad reviews before I signed up with AHS but for some reason, this company only pops up on Yelp for the Memphis area, and we are in Greenville, SC. This is really a horrible company! Had only been with them for a couple months when we needed AC service. They sent me to a vendor that I could not even vet because they have no website, no office and according to an internet search, it was no longer even in business. A tech did eventually come out to the house but he was so rude and unprofessional at the door we had to ask him to leave. I tried calling the vendor in order to see if they could get another tech out but could never get through. When I then tried to get another vendor, AHS told me that they needed to get approval from that same vendor even though they admittedly were also unable to reach them. They told me that even though the service request was two weeks ago, we still did not have any AC and the vendor never even looked at our system, we had to wait for that same vendor to complete a report and give them authorization before they could assign another vendor. AHS was more concerned about a bad vendor than their customer! When I demanded my money back they gave me the runaround, and after speaking with three representatives, I am still waiting for a call back from a "manager." read more

I am a Realtor who recommended American Home Shield to my clients for years. Unfortunately, as the company has grown--and particularly since becoming part of Frontdoor--its service has deteriorated significantly. After my own recent experience, I can no longer recommend American Home Shield to my clients. I have been dealing with an unresolved pool-pump problem since early May. Their contractor diagnosed that my Pentair pump needed a new motor, but AHS installed an aftermarket Neptune motor onto the existing Pentair equipment instead. Within two weeks, the seals failed and the pump began leaking. Although the seals were replaced, the pump still does not operate properly. The RPMs are too low, it shuts off intermittently, and the pool is not skimming correctly. This has contributed to recurring algae, and I am paying my pool technician for additional chemicals and cleaning. AHS has already sent contractors to inspect this problem multiple times. Instead of providing a proper permanent repair, they keep trying to send yet another company to "diagnose" an issue that has already been diagnosed. I declined the latest appointment because I see no point in repeatedly starting the process over while my pool continues to deteriorate. I purchased a home warranty so that covered equipment would be repaired properly--not patched with an unsuitable replacement motor, followed by months of delays and repeated service calls. American Home Shield's handling of this claim has been frustrating, costly and completely unacceptable. Based on this experience, I can no longer recommend American Home Shield to my clients or other homeowners. read more

My AC unit broke 2 months ago. The replacement was over $13,000. American Home Shield was only going to cover $3500 of the replacement even though I have the top coverage option and my contract clearly state that replacement is covered, including modifications. I have tried to reach managers and corporate with no one willing to call me back or help financially with the issue or uphold the contract. DO NOT waste your money with this company. I have had them through 2 homes and many, many years. Customer service is a joke with this company. They are happy to take your money every month, lie to you, and allow you to believe what you have is a comprehensive coverage when it is not. I can not stress enough how unhelpful and unprofessional this company is. American Home Shield is a waste of time and money. A company was dispatched to my home to repair my evaporative cooler. I had no choice, AHS simply sent them. They caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to my home. I have called several, times to cancel my plan with AHS, I am told someone will call me back and they never do. I have resorted to a letter asking for my plan to be canceled since there is no way to cancel online. I have tried to remove my card from my account and that is not allowed. read more

This is the abridged version. September 29, 2025 we contacted American Home Shield (AHS) due to problems with the dishwasher making loud noises and the refrigerator not holding temperature causing HI (or H1) on the temperature sensor, mold condensation on the fridge gasket and along side the freezer, when door stays open it no longer beeps, and water filter not working. The first contracted vendor was non-responsive so AHS assigned someone else. On October 2nd, the new contracted AHS vendor indicated that they did not see issues with the dishwasher but noted several issues with the fridge. They indicated that they needed to replace: 1. Door seal gaskets (2) 2. Damper Control 3. Control Board 4. Water Filter Bypass 5. Temperature Sensor After some time I called the AHS escalation department to get an update to discover that there were issues between AHS and the contracted vendor about the parts being ordered vs received this was around October 10. I continually had to have this matter escalated within AHS due to the lack of communication with the contracted AHS vendor. We began to have food spoilage and I indicated this matter to AHS. Finally, around October 16, the contracted AHS representative returned with parts but the replaced parts did not fix the problems. Then this contracted vendor tried again October 24 with no results. Each time a new dispatch number is assigned and date as if the need has changed when the initial matter has never been addressed. Then October 29 a new dispatch number was assigned for the same issues. On November 7, the same company sent another representative who brought another 2 different types of seal gaskets from the previous representative but did not address the initial issue that was pointed out. Both gaskets were forced on but only the freezer one stuck on. As I was continually escalating the matter each time I called finally Lilnel (AHS) sent me an email on November 19 to express concern. We had been going back and forth until 11.24, at which time she asked if it was ok to close the matter and I told her no because the matter had not been resolved. Now there is another problem that once the gasket was installed a crack is now present on the left side of the freezer and water leaking at the bottom of the freezer. I sent photos. The new contracted vendor arrived on 11.25 and indicated that the cracks that are now present on both sides of the freezer are normal. And that due to the frozen water leakage on the bottom of the freezer it is due to a clogged water line and the defrost drain. After reading to the AHS contractor that this wasn't normal. He indicated that he would tell AHS about his findings not addressing the initial issue as the previous vendors and that he would request parts for the water line and the defrost drain. I sent the updated emails to Lilnel. Initially it bounced back indicating that the photos were too large so I resent the emails in 3-4 sections. Now there is excessive floor damage which is worse from over a month ago. AHS has been informed of this during my several calls including the escalation department and my updates to Lilnel. We are continually paying our monthly premiums and at this point all we want is a replacement refrigerator, and our floors repaired to make us whole after dealing with this for 2 months and counting. AHS used to be a great company but now they're just scamming and gaslighting their customers. , gaslighting. They're sending SOCIAL MEDIA responses to deal with complaints via disputes which is not acceptable. REPLACE MY FRIDGE AND FIX MY DAMAGED FLOORS. read more

There is little to no benefit from this entire company, HVAC systems are barely covered, only the cheap labor costs are covered because of their ambiguous, unclear, baiting plan. they claim to offer up to $5000 of coverage but none of those actually go into helping you, because you have to pay for all of the parts yourself. Super unhelpful also when I tried to cancel this horrid plan as customer service made me wait for over an hour and a half, spent almost 10 minutes trying to convince me to stay by offering crappy discounts of 10 dollars off of my service request, which I already paid for, and then went silent and hung up on me after the long wait because my decision was unchanged. This is borderline a scam company, DO NOT GIVE AWAY YOUR MONEY read more

American Home Shield - 25 per month for almost a year but I had to pay an extra 50 to cancel my plan because I didn't "pay enough" of my plan? - Roofing Near Me - Memphis, Tennessee

My experience with American Home Shield (AHS) has been defined by inaccurate documentation, shifting explanations, and a refusal to follow basic HVAC safety regulations. AHS originally offered $1,183.18 as a cash-in-lieu payment for a failed compressor. After we pointed out and confirmed in writing with the contractor that they never informed AHS of a February visit or a compressor failure, AHS increased the offer to $1,683.18. AHS had altered their records and we made a screenshot of the altered record. Furthermore, the contractor stated directly that AHS dictates how much to collect, which aligns with contract language specifying that AHS sets the out-of-pocket amount. This makes AHS's attempt to defer responsibility to the contractor even more concerning. Not only was the final offer inadequate, but AHS later changed key details in their records. They shifted the failure date from December to February and altered the diagnosis from an air handler replacement (in December) to a compressor replacement (in February). These changes were never supported by the contractor's actual documentation and directly contradict the original December 11 diagnosis. AHS also ignored federal regulations regarding SEER2 compatibility, which require replacing the outside unit when an incompatible inside unit must be replaced. Instead of acknowledging this safety and compliance requirement pushing the cost onto us, claiming it was the contractor's decision. This is despite the contractor making it clear that this expense only existed because AHS informed them to collect $3,749.00 from us as our out of pocket expenses if we wanted the air handler to be replaced instead of the cash-in-lieu offer. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, but AHS continued to defer to the contractor rather than addressing their own inaccurate documentation and inadequate cash-in-lieu offer. Over Six months and still no resolution as of 1st July 2026. After this experience, I cannot recommend AHS to anyone seeking honest documentation, responsible claim handling, or safety-compliant HVAC replacement. read more

After over a decade with American Home Shield, I've had a wake-up call I wish I'd had sooner. We've been paying AHS faithfully for more than ten years -- in total, well over $10,000 for "peace of mind." We've rarely filed claims, but when we finally needed a repair, they denied it based on a technicality in the fine print. In short: Yes, they cover that item... but because my home didn't already have one installed, they considered it an "upgrade" and refused. Even my request for a simple refund of the service fee was denied. What's frustrating isn't just the denial, but the realization that all those years of faithful payment meant nothing to them when it mattered. Lesson learned: If I had saved that monthly payment instead of sending it to AHS, I'd have had the cash ready to pay for any repair -- no hoops, no fine print, no surprise denials. If you're considering a home warranty, do the math and decide if you're buying real protection... or just the illusion of it. read more

Beware AHS Realtor-Sold Warranties - Coverage Gap. We purchased an AHS home warranty through our real estate agent in New York, primarily to cover the risk that there would be an issue with a swimming pool that could not be inspected during January. We were told that if there were issues when the pool was opened, AHS would cover them, up to $3,000, within the coverage limits of their policy. After the pool was opened and its contractor inspected, we learned that the pump, filter, and heater all needed replacement, at an estimated cost to me exceeding $10,000. AHS declined to cover anything but the pump, a small fraction of our loss, due to poor winterization by the FORMER OWNER, which was unknowable when we purchased the policy. I am confident that this AHS business practice can be found in the fine print of their contracts, but it is unacceptable because we should have been informed of it before we bought the warranty. We knew that they require a 30-day delay for claims after existing homeowners start new policies, but there is no delay for new homeowners with policies purchased through real estate agents. We thought this difference was there to acknowledge that new owners might encounter immediate problems beyond their control. If considering buying an AHS home warranty, keep your money in your wallet." read more

I created a work order on 11 June 2026 with American Home Shield (AHS) for an HVAC repair. The contractor assigned, A&M Air Conditioning Services, texted me at 10:53 am on 12 June asking if they could come by in 30 minutes. I was at work and could not but asked if he could come at 2 pm. There was no response. I texted him at 1:59 pm 12 June. No response. I called him on 15 June to which he replied "Please text me." I texted him. No response. I called AHS and they stated an appointment to fix my HVAC was scheduled by A&M. This was untruthful--no appointment had ever been coordinated or confirmed. AHS called A&M. No response. AHS sent an email to A&M. No response. AHS told me to call back at 6 pm if I hadn't heard back from A&M and I could be assigned a different technician. I called, and they only offered to call A&M again. No response. I called AHS on 16 June. They again offered to call A&M. No response. AHS told me they would have to keep trying and I said no, I want to escalate the situation. I was told I would get a call back from AHS within 24 hours. I did not. I called AHS 17 June and was again told they would have to call A&M. I told them that was unsatisfactory and I want a different technician. A supervisor called me on 17 June and said they have to forward the request to the field manager to see if they can assign a different technician. The call and approval from the field manager would take 1-2 business days. If approved, another technician would assigned. If approved, the work won't be complete for nearly two weeks since submission. No completion in an HVAC system for two weeks in June in South Texas. One week after submitting the request, the contractor finally came out. When he did come out, he incorrectly diagnosed the problem. He cut the support straps on my attic a/c ducting causing it to sag leading to a greater kink and further restricted air flow. He no only didn't fix the problem he made it worse. The support straps now have to be replaced after he unnecessarily cut them. And, the original problem of that room not cooling still remains. In October 2025, I submitted a request for septic service. AHS never found a contractor and had no sense of urgency for a septic system that wouldn't pump and kept filling. This created a risk of sewage back flow into the house. After a couple DAYS, I ended up hiring a contractor that would come out and fix the septic before it became an bigger sanitation issue. AHS did exactly nothing to fix that septic problem. Twice I had one of their cut-rate contractors come out to fix a dishwasher. Twice he came out. Twice it was never fixed. I've had AHS for three years and am questioning if they should have my continued business. They are extremely slow to get contractors out and often one of three results happen: (1) the contractor doesn't show up (the septic issue); (2) they can't fix the problem (the dishwasher); (3) they make the problem worse (the air conditioner). When you try to escalate the situation, you can't talk to someone that can actually do something. You are promised a call back which, usually, doesn't come. There is no email that I have been given to provide a written record of their poor service. It's just another call followed by an extremely long hold time, met with someone with not the best English that usually doesn't solve the problem. read more

I am sharing my experience to warn other homeowners about what actually happens after you file a claim. I contacted American Home Shield for an AC issue and was assigned a technician through their network. After the technician serviced my unit, my AC was left in worse condition than before the visit. The system was no longer functioning properly after their work. When I filed a follow-up claim to repair the damage that occurred during the service, American Home Shield denied the claim, stating that the damage was not due to "normal wear and tear." This is extremely concerning, as the problem only escalated after their technician worked on the unit. The denial effectively places the financial responsibility on the homeowner for damage caused during a service call that was authorized and arranged by American Home Shield. This experience highlights a serious issue: even when you pay for coverage and use their approved technicians, you may still be denied repairs when something goes wrong. I relied on this warranty for protection and instead was left with a damaged AC system and no resolution. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that potential customers read reviews carefully and understand that coverage may be denied even when damage occurs during a company-authorized repair. read more

My next stop is the BBB after completing this review. American Home Shield is horrible. They only contract with companies that agree to say what they want them to say. They do not want to cover anything. My drip pan under my A/C unit in the attic is rusted and needs to be replaced. In my service plan, it says all parts and components of my A/C are covered. And rust is listed as a covered breakdown. They said since it is not actively leaking through to my ceiling, it is not broken and they won't cover it until then. Do not waste your money with AHS. read more

American Homeshield assigned a contractor to come and replace the motherboard in my 2 1/2 yr old range/cooker in November 2025. The motherboard stated to fall into the cooker 5 days ago Jan 2026. No fault of my own, I guessed it was not secured properly by the contractor. However because of some 30 day policy, AHS wanted to charge me another $125 service fee!!! When I asked to speak to a supervisor or escalation dept, they offered no help. If anyone reads this review please please let me know if there is a better company to switch to because they take by $110 per month with no problem, but if they offer this kind of service back up on a range/cooker, what can I expect if it's the a/c unit! That's a scary thought... Not good business practice American Homeshield really. read more

American Home Shield approved only a TXV repair on an older HVAC R-22 system even after their own contractor stated the repair has no guarantee, the compressor condition is unknown, and TXV freeze-ups can damage the compressor. The repair estimate was $5,257.98, requiring $2,676 out of pocket, yet AHS offered only $1,485 cash in lieu despite replacement estimates around $8,500-$8,800. This forced a choice between a speculative repair or an unreasonably low settlement. Very disappointing claims handling. read more

My experience mirrors those of other reviewers: there one assigned vendor disappeared and neither they nor I could get them to come back out and fix our boiler. Meanwhile, I'm in the Cleveland, OH area with no heat in a cold winter. Moreover, their vendor's diagnosis ignored that our boiler was a fire risk and needed replacement. I've had to have another company come out and replace it altogether. This is my 3rd house that came with an AHS warranty. The experiences we've had have been just like the current one. They play games to avoid actually performing the work they sold a warranty to do. I have filed a complaint with the OH Better Business Bureau and the OH Attorney General's Consumer Fraud Protection Div. If you are purchasing a new house, I strongly recommend that you if the seller offers a home warranty you get it through someone else. AHS's business model is to take sellers' money and refuse to deliver on services that are ostensibly covered. Realtors who continue to use them are part of the fraud and I would very much like to know if they receive some kick back for doing so. read more

Unbelievable. I have three properties and I'm paying AHS more than $3,000 a year. My first experience with them was one of the most horrible customer experiences I have ever had as a business and home owner. Hold times on the phone between 1-2 hours. No option for them to call you back when your turn comes. Never ever got a stateside customer service person, only people in the Philippines. No option to be transferred back to the U.S. On a balcony leak, they sent a company whose technician was 21 years old, a recent hire, and knew absolutely nothing. He came in an old unmarked car with body damage, wasn't wearing a uniform, had no tools, and not even booties to walk into my home. He actually told me he didn't know much and gave me the name of a different company to call. I was charged $125 by AHS for this visit, and AHS would not refund the money after I complained. They were totally unaccountable for the company they sent to me. I asked if I can find my own company to fix the leak and then have AHS pay that company up to the limits of my policy and the supervisor in their escalations department said "no". This company is an utter scam. I strongly recommend staying away from them. I cancelled all three of my policies today after having already paid them about $1200. A total rip-off and a waste of a dozen hours. The BBB should have AHS investigated for fraud. read more

If zero stars was an option I'd have left that. This business is a scam. Paid $125 for a service call in October of '25. February '26 I have the same issue. Another $125 service fee only to find out that the first visit only performed a temporary fix as per Ahs protocol, guaranteeing another service call would be required. This was for an ac unit. Refrigerant is not covered so I was out of pocket $200 + plus $125 the first time and another $400 this time on top of the $125. Bottom line - steer clear of this company! I strongly caution anyone considering American Home Shield (AHS). I filed a claim for a broken garage door spring. My contract clearly states that torsion springs are covered. AHS's own vendor quoted the cost of one spring at $300, yet AHS only offered me $125 as a cash-in-lieu payment. That doesn't even cover the cost of the covered part, and I already paid their $125 service fee just for someone to come look at it. To make matters worse, every garage door professional I spoke with -- including AHS's own vendor -- said both springs must be replaced together for safety. AHS refused, leaving me to either pay hundreds more out-of-pocket through their vendor or hire someone locally. I ended up paying $395 total with a local company for both springs and adjustments, which was actually cheaper than AHS's vendor would have charged for only one spring. I appealed multiple times, escalated to supervisors, and even submitted a formal appeal in writing. Each time, AHS refused to honor the contract. I've now filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) for failure to honor their warranty. This experience has been extremely frustrating and feels like a bad faith attempt to avoid paying for covered repairs. Homeowners should be aware that AHS may not honor the clear language in their contracts, leaving you to pay out-of-pocket for repairs you thought were covered. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. On August 6, 2025, I received a marketing letter from American Home Shield addressed to a family member who passed away over 24 years ago. This was not only upsetting--it was completely unacceptable. I called to ask how something like this could happen. I was told the decision came from their marketing department. That's not an excuse--it's a sign of irresponsible, outdated, and careless practices. I made it very clear: Do not send any more mail addressed to that person. Do not send anything from your company to my address--now or ever. This level of insensitivity shows a total lack of respect for people's personal circumstances. If they can't manage their mailing list, how can they be trusted to manage anything else? Avoid this company at all costs. They do not deserve your business. read more

Zero Stars if it were an option. Repeated Service Failures and Poor Customer Support This has been an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience, and I would not recommend American Home Shield (AHS) to anyone. I previously had AHS coverage on a different property with no issues, which made this experience even more disheartening. In January 2025, I contacted AHS when my GE Profile refrigerator and freezer began malfunctioning. A Sears technician diagnosed low coolant and resolved the issue--temporarily. By March, the problem returned. A local contractor diagnosed a compressor issue, submitted a work order, and assured me I'd receive a follow-up within a week. That never happened. I contacted AHS multiple times between March 7-17, only to learn later--through my own outreach--that the contractor had canceled the job two days after their visit, stating the work was outside their scope. AHS had this information but failed to inform me or assign a new technician, leaving the issue unresolved for nearly three weeks. During that time, I lost perishable food and had to store frozen items offsite. When I requested Sears again, AHS agreed--but never submitted the work order. I only discovered this after calling Sears myself. I had to call AHS again to have the request re-entered. Sears eventually completed the repair, but by May, the issue resurfaced. A GE technician found that the part Sears claimed to install had never been replaced, and he recommended full appliance replacement. AHS sent me replacement options (AHS-provided model, e-payment, or reimbursement), but the email didn't specify a dollar amount. I was shocked to learn the offer was just over $500--a result, I was told, of deducting service fees. Considering three of five service requests were due to AHS delays or mismanagement, this was deeply disappointing. I selected the AHS replacement option but received no follow-up. When I called, I was told the model was no longer available, with no explanation and no alternative provided. Meanwhile, I received a call trying to renew my contract--despite the unresolved replacement. A later voicemail and supervisor call both repeated the same message: "There's nothing we can do." At this point, I have no confidence in AHS. I will not renew my contract, and I plan to share this experience with AHS leadership, the Better Business Bureau, and Trustpilot, in hopes of helping others make informed decisions. This has been a long, exhausting process--marked by poor communication, lack of accountability, repeated service failures, and no proactive customer care. I have lost time, food, money, and trust in a company that promises reliability and peace of mind. read more

I previously filed a complaint with BBB concerning AHS denial of my claim for coverage of a built-in exhaust fan. After filing several reviews and writing letters to their CEO and CFO, I received ,and accepted, their offer of a Cash-In-Lieu of payment of 63% of my out-of-pocket expense to repair the fan. read more

Took multiple calls and still could not get a timely service provider out for a weekend call to diagnose and/or service my AC system with a situation that constitutes a medically fragile issue. Hours on the phone and final resolution was still a Wednesday morning appt for a Friday evening call. So it's pointless to try to get a weekend appt. As others have said, if you're paying full price for AHS as your home warranty, you're paying too much b/c the service doesn't match the cost, ask for a discount and then maybe it's ok, but definitely pay full price (retail) for their subscription as you can go w/a different and better home warranty if you're paying the retail price for AHS. They can and do give deep discounts, but you have to insist. read more

This company has such poor customer service, based in Philippines, and won't honor their contract. After two months I still have a non working refrigerator, the techs they sent out are incompetent, and I think their business rss model is to just wait you out until you stop calling and pay a service company y to fix your issues or purchase a replacement on your own. After two months I bought a new refrigerator and now they don't want to fix the original covered appliance because it was moved out of my kitchen to make room for a new working one that cost me $2000. Don't t waste your money on this company. Don't accept AHS policy when you buy a home from a seller, either get the cash from the seller or have them provide coverage from a reputable warranty/service company. I paid a service fee to have two different AHS service guys come out and open the refrigerator door then tell me it is t cooling! There is no way to contact them in the US, they are no -responsive, I have been accused of trying to defraud them by their customer service people. The allege factor here is off the charts. read more

I'm writing this review to share what it was like being a Black employee at Frontdoor, Inc. and a former dispatcher , and to be honest, it was deeply hurtful and disappointing. I was regularly overworked, often pulled into supporting other departments without acknowledgement or compensation. No matter how much I gave, I was treated with disrespect by managers and never truly seen for my contributions. Instead, it felt like I was only seen when it suited the company's image. One day, leadership staged a photo with me and another Black colleague in front of a background filled with hearts and the words "We love Black people." It was clearly done to create the appearance of diversity and inclusion -- not because those values were truly lived out within the workplace. Around that time, a Zoom filter was also rolled out that said "Black Associate Resource Group." I had never even heard of such a group, let alone been invited to join, despite being one of the few Black employees. I reported my concerns through the proper channels, expecting discretion and support. Instead, the manager responsible was told to apologize -- on camera, in front of everyone. What was supposed to be a confidential HR issue turned into a humiliating, public moment that only emphasized how alone I was. During the call, another employee even said, "I don't see what the problem is," and the supervisor abruptly ended the meeting. A coworker shared the recording with me. Another colleague was so distressed by the incident that they had to take a mental health break. Eventually, I quit. I couldn't afford health insurance and was denied FMLA leave because my company-assigned therapist disappeared. By the time I got a new provider, it was too late -- the paperwork required a licensed clinician's signature, which my new therapist couldn't provide. I'm sharing all of this so others, especially Black professionals, understand the difference between how this company presents itself and what actually happens behind the scenes. No one should be used for diversity optics, and no one should be humiliated for speaking up. To add insult to injury, this year's compensation process was alarmingly inconsistent. Last year, we were required to sign official documents showing both our raise and bonus amounts. This year, we were only verbally told the bonus amount -- and the paperwork we received had $0 listed under bonuses. This kind of shift in transparency felt deeply shady and left many of us confused and concerned. I'm sharing this so others -- especially Black professionals -- understand the gap between the company's image and its internal culture. No one should be used for appearances or punished for telling the truth read more

The worst company I've ever used. Trying to cancel took almost two hours. Customer support is in India. Stay away!

let me share with everyone my experience with american home shield, which i've been a member of for 7 years. on aug 8th my gas stove stopped working, its commercial stove. first they sent someone that wasn't certified to work on gas stoves, so they sent another contractor out. he ordered the parts, buy ahs sent the wrong year parts since the stove was so old, he recommended that it be totaled and we should receive a credit for 2000 for replacement. great, right? today is nov 20th, still no replacement, why ? they have not received the $2250 in parts that their vendor had ordered and they haven't received back as of today. i spoke to their contractor and he advised everything should be fine , and this was mid oct. i'm still without a stove because customer service cannot connect the dots or even reach out to the contractor. i've asked why am i being held hostage with their contractor or vendor, there are no parts on site or even installed in my stove and yet im held hostage. please think about the situation, your a hostage and they won't take responsibility for their vendors or contractors. no one wants to help. the last thing was this past monday, a parts person advised me she would have a supervisor call me back within24 to 48 hours, because she agreed with me. but no call not ashock because ive heard this for the past 2 months someone will call me back. no message no texts, nadda. thanks ahs i wont have a stove for the holdiays .. take your business else where or just put you $100 a month payment in a coffee jar and save incase something breaks it will be in your best interest because you have to 125 just for the service call. and please don't ask me about the august ac repair because that costed me 12k because of shotty contractor. read more

American Home American Home Shield has terrible customer service (customer disservice to be more accurate). It took 4 days to even get a technician to my house to look at the AC that was leaking and when they did get a technician to the house he made the leak worse and further damaged my kitchen. When I called American Home Shield back they insisted on putting me back into the standard queue, which would have taken probably at least another 4 days to get someone to the house again. I called one company on my own and they had a technician to my house in 1 hour and had the issue fixed one hour later. Don't waste your money on anything from American Home Shield. read more

We've had American Home Shield for 12 years. The price has gone up and up without notice in addition to the cost to having a repair person to come to our home. We had already canceled the policy on our lake property last year because they could never find a repair person in the area, so we paid 100% of all repairs to that home in addition to our premiums. Today, it took 46+ minutes to cancel our primary residence policy. The customer service refused to hear that our decision to cancel was made and we were offer several options instead of cancelation. It went on and on when we made it VERY clear we wanted to cancel. A supervisor wasn't available to speak to us - shock. Supposedly, we will get an email confirmation within the next 24 hours along with a phone from a supervisor and we will be refunded this month's premium within 30 days (30 days for them to have our money for nothing). Tomorrow, first thing, I will go to our back and dispute the payment, just in case. This company is crap. read more

I have a broken water heater in winter with a senior citizen who is 76 years old. I filed a claim with my home warranty company - American Home Shield (AHS) for repair. They dispatched a technician from Castle Care, and the person diagnosed the issue and told me that the electrical and gas valve need to be replaced. However his notes to AHS were that the entire water heater that is just 4 years old needs to be replaced and that he needs to redo the entire plumbing which is already up to code. He is charging $1700 out of pocket costs, which I believe is totally un-necessary. AHS is giving me an alternative cash in lieu offer of $1022 to get this resolved with my own professional. AHS for the same water heater back in 2021 offered me $2200 to get the same capacity water heater installed by an outside plumber. They are offering no explanation as to why 4 years later they would give me half the amount, when I am paying a higher monthly subscription than before. Their escalations department refuses to explain why they are offering less this time than last time and have disconnected my call instead. I would like to file acomplaint against AHS for Fraud, Inferior customer service and lack of Transparency in pricing and for dispatching technicians who are quoting un-necessary out of pocket work. Common sense dictates that their current cash out offer at least matche what they offered for the same problem and same spec 4 years ago. Stay away! read more
