Driving into DC from Alexandria on a rainy Wednesday morning during rush hour and my 'check oil light' comes on. I pull into the first station I pass - where I've gotten gas many times. I'd had a oil change scheduled for the weekend but I was a little bit overdue. I didn't realize they had a service station there too. I bought a couple quarts of the oil I needed (which was quite reasonably priced for a smaller retail location) and the cashier asked me if I needed help putting it in the car. Only because it was raining and I was in a hurry, I accepted her offer. Almost immediately a polite service mechanic comes out, pops my hood and puts in a quart. He checked the oil level and tells me that's all I need, and I could take the other quart in for a refund. I told him I'd keep it for later. Fortunately, I actually had some cash on me for a tip but he seemed surprised with the offer. I was in and out in 10 minutes. There's another gas station next door that's always a couple pennies cheaper but for that level of service, I will remember to the excellent service I got at the Exxon and fill 'er up there. read more

As a new resident of Virginia I needed to register my car and get new plates. Fortunately, I called this Exxon station. I went to Kelly's and they did both the safety and emissions tests while I waited... AND they told me to come back once I had the new plates so they could put them on for me free of charge! Not sure how this place has bad reviews bc I've taken 3 different cars there for everything from oil changes to blown out engines and they've been great. Super prompt, responsive, speedy - just great. Recently I had an oil leak and a "family owned" garage in Del Ray misdiagnosed it and then told me it would be ~$2K to fix. These guys solved my problem in a day for $800. Responsive, candid and polite - what else could you want from a garage? I highly recommend Chris and his team! read more

In this area, Crist could very easily make a fortune on people with expensive parts and no clue, but he and his guys really are honest and helpful. He could have taken thousands from me when my cat and exhaust line were failing but told me that I really shouldn't put any more into the car at all, that it was just time. Went to put air in my tires after hours but the station wasn't working. Crist was there after hours and saw that I needed help and used his own portable tire inflation tool and put air in my tires for me free of charge. I got a bad flat leaving work and stopped by as they were closing, and Crist and Garrison stayed late to help me! There was nothing they could do about the tire, but helped me change it to the spare so I got to stay clean. This was on their own time and they didn't charge me! Had a phenomenal experience today. Got a flat tire driving down the GW parkway (worst place ever). A neighbor told me to go to the service center here. STAY AWAY!!! Spent 1.5 hours WAITING for inspection that simply did not happen. Was told '20' minutes (MULTIPLE TIMES!). Also heard others being quoted at '20' minutes. An older lady complained and they offered her free coffee. While the young woman -working both counters because the manager was late- was very pleasant and friendly, the same can not be said for the rest of the staff and manager. Poorly operated and incredibly poor interactions helped me decide to walk out after 90 minutes despite needing an inspection. Do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE ELSE read more

It's called Exxon gas station. The tech here Carlos was outstanding if I could give more stars I would. When I arrived he was helping a lady. He was making calls for her to try to get a part he finally found a place that would deliver it right before closing and he told the lady he would stay and do it for her. He apologized to me for making me wait took my car back immediately. This is the best customer service I've EVER received at any place for an oil change. I wanted to tip for my service but the cashier said it's not allowed this is the best I can do is write a review about him. read more

I had posted a review long ago, but it seems they have changed their Company ID on Yelp so all the old bad reviews got removed from Yelp (notice nothing newer than 2015). I will just say they are very annoying to me, often in my face trying to sell me stuff as I am filling up with gas. I have heard enough bad stories that I won't get my car worked on there - go to the Liberty next door. I recently heard a couple stories from my work colleagues who said they were ripped off during state inspections. One went next door to Liberty, who told them the reported "problem" did not exist. They will be calling in the State Troopers to report this incident. This is not a little ma & pa station either, apparently the owner has lots of gas stations in the area with lots of complaints. They allegedly use their corporate size to drive out small competition with low prices, then raise them after the competition closes down. I will no longer even buy gas there. Note that there are some mistaken reviews posted on the Exxon down on South Washington that were really meant for here. Go look there too, some explicitly say "this is for the 703 N. Washington Exxon" or "...so I went to the Liberty next door". Both bad reviews. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. They are completely dishonest, and I suspect particularly so with women. I had my car towed here after my muffler unattached when I was driving on GW Pkwy. They told me I needed a new strap, and that it would cost $162 with parts and labor. I thought that seemed exorbitant, so I came over to pick the car up so I could get another estimate somewhere else. When I came to pick up the keys, the guy tried to charge me $150, even though he hadn't done any work (just for looking at the car for 5 min). They also told me my transmission needed to be flushed. I took my car to the Liberty station next door, and as I suspected, the repair was much less. $20 for a tiny bolt (didn't even need the strap). I asked them to check the transmission fluid to see if it actually needed to be flushed, and of course, it is perfectly fine. The whole repair and diagnostic took 10 min. In the past, I have had repairs done at that Exxon and came to pick up my car, only to have them charge me another 15-20% more than what was agreed upon due to "unexpected additional labor". Those times, I paid. I'm glad this time, the cost seemed so exorbitant that it made me suspicious. I will never come here again. read more

I strongly recommend avoiding this establishment. I took my car in for a safety inspection and failed because of a leaky hose. They quoted me $500 for the repairs, saying that was a cheap price. I took the car to my mechanic (who had quoted me $350 for the same job), and he said there was no leak. I decided to take my car to another inspection station, and they passed me saying they couldn't find a leak either. read more

Beware pumping gas at this gas station least you want to pay for premium gas even if you did not choose that. I've been getting gas here for many-many years and never had this issue. The other day, I came to get regular gas, but instead I got premium. I didn't notice it until the pumping was done. Gas station attendant (and manager later) told me "oh, the hose accidentally might have touched premium button and that's what was selected". Manager also acknowledged that this happens often. I clearly remember hitting regular twice before it started pumping. I guess be careful how you handle the hose or you pay premium. Or avoid them all together. read more
