I have to hand it to the owner because every customer that came in he let them know right up front while looking at the menu board that they were out of chili and soups. He said at the moment they are just a sandwich shop. He was so sweet and personable. My husband had the grinder and I had the toastie. We would both order the exact same thing again. My pulled pork was so tasty and I enjoyed the poblano avocado ranch on it. We will definitely be back as they have started soup flights. Can't wait to stop in this winter for that. It reminds me of eating in a deli shop nothing over the top but lots of seating.

My family and I were passing though Wautoma around dinner time and wanted something to go that…read morewasn't the usual fast food chain restaurants. Milty Wilty Drive-In is on the way out of town heading east, so we stopped there and placed an order to go. One kid got two hot dogs, the other got chicken strips and regular fries, my wife got a plain cheeseburger and regular fries, and I got a plain double cheeseburger with seasoned curly fries. She and I also split a grilled cheese. The regular fries have absolutely no salt or seasoning on them. Even with being straight out of the fryer they weren't the most crispy, so being bland too was very disappointing. The curly fries were preseasoned, so that couldn't be screwed up, yet I could oddly taste a hint of onion rings from them being fried in the same oil. Like the fries, the burgers were completely unseasoned. The double cheeseburger was maybe slightly bigger than a double cheeseburger from McDonald's, so I don't think it was worth the extra cost when size is similar and taste isn't as good. The grilled cheese had enough cheese to cover a single layer inside the sandwich with no thickness to it. It was better than the burgers, but that's not saying much. The kid with the hot dogs said they were "fine" and the kid with the chicken strips said they were "ok", neither of which are ringing endorsements. There were only two chicken strips in the basket and not a ton of fries. Maybe for a elementary school kid this would be enough, but for a 12 year old boy it wasn't.

This year I had a strawberry matcha and a pecan roll that I devoured before I remembered to take a picture (SO good!). Quiche, pastries, and all of the coffee beverages are always a hit. The berry muffin with vanilla drizzle is the yummiest thing I've eaten in a long time. There were six of us, and we ordered a variety of coffee drinks - all delicious. The pacing here is unrushed - you'll wait awhile to offer and the food will slowly trickle out from the kitchen. Bring a deck of cards and soak in the atmosphere. Horseradish was bustling at 12:30pm on a Saturday, but wasn't too overly packed when we came in. We were able to find a table for 4 and get our orders in quickly. That being said, it took over an hour of listening to terribly overstimulating music with bad vibes to actually get our food. Our kids were hangry, as were the children at a few other tables as well. I ordered the Vegan Witch (I LOVE kimchi) and my daughter ordered the Gus Special No. 1. We also all ordered various sodas/Olipops. The prices for the sodas were absurd, and the side salad that I ordered with my vegan witch was flavorless. I was kind of shocked at the kids' menu options and expected better ... my daughter of course ate it, as she's 4, and who doesn't love cheese on tortilla chips, but what an odd lunch option. I would have preferred more kid friendly veggie options for the side veggies, as radishes are a bit strange to plate for a child ... my sandwich was good, but just seemed to be lacking something. Staff were incredibly nice, but with how slow service was, I would not recommend going when you're actually hungry. I also don't recommend for kids. It was a fun experience and a nice find for in the middle of nowhere, but I guess I was just hoping for a bit more ... The bathrooms are nice, and my daughter and I loved the banana and lipstick lights on the bathroom walls that were also for sale. Cute place, slow service. I'll probably never be in Green Lake, Wisconsin again, so I can't say whether I'd return or not.

This restaurant is better than the overall star rating listed. Read the negative reviews…read morecarefully. They are about hours and the like. Not about the food. The food surprised me! The fried chicken was hot, crispy and seasoned well. It came with the vegetable of the day which was peas and they were fresh. I don't think I've ever seen a restaurant serve fresh peas. The fried potatoes and bread were good also. We also had an omelette that was exactly as expected except the ham was particularly flavorful. I suspect they cook and sliced their own ham instead of buying it ready to use. Top it off with a hot cup of coffee and it was the perfect meal. I'd come back just to see how they can surprise me again.
