Well, Dr. Ashburn himself is great. I think he is the best doctor my daughter could have. He is very nice and you we have great conversations. I also like how he cares for my daughter. Once I bypass front office staff, the experience is great with Dr. Ashburn.
But his office staff, they are the worst and Dr. Ashburn should address this with his staff. They make it very hard to get the service you need. I don't know if this is Dr. Ashburn's fault or what but his staff needs a makeover. They need to learn how to treat their patients well, especially with the nature of the business. If you see a mother devastated about her daughter, you should have some compassion and help out and get a nurse to help out. That shouldn't be hard to do.
I understand if you need to get a shot or something minor, to make an appointment. But I had a real emergency. My daughter had a bead in her nose that needed to be removed. I attempted to remove it myself at first. But, I was just too scared after so many failed attempts. I went to where you go in case of an emergency, YOUR DOCTOR! I went in at 3:00PM. A very reasonable time to get in to see the doctor. There was no one in the waiting room except the office staff. I told them my dilemma and they said that Dr. Ashburn was completely booked.
I then asked them, well, and I looked around at the empty room, can't you have a nurses take care of it. They said that only the doctor can do that. So, I said okay, but very upset inside. I was scared for my daughter's wellbeing. She had a small bead in her nose. If you're a parent, you'd be freaking out too. I didn't know what was going to happen. I was afraid that this could cause her breaking failure or something that would risk her life and well-being.
So, I went to the urgent care they suggested. Guess what! They couldn't help me. I was told that they didn't have the tools to remove the object from my daughters nose; unbelievable. I was like what?!?!?! You're an urgent care office. This is not a small building, this is a big building and they don't have the tools?!?!? So bizzare.
So, okay they told me to go to St. Josephs hospital, so off I go to St. Joseph's Hospital. They gladly took in my daughter. I fill out a few forms and I waited in the waiting room. I waited for like 30 minutes and during that time, I tired and tired to remove the object. Mind you, I am not a nurse, a doctor, or anything in that regard, and I was finally able to remove the object by myself. Relief! I felt so happy. But, the stress all of these people made me go through, was really not necessary. Dr. Ashburn or his nurse should have assisted. There is no reason why they couldn't get a nurse or someone to assist. Doctors and nurses go to school for years, yet they can't remove a bead from a 4 year old girl? Really??!!?! Come on, give me a break.
If Dr. Ashburn reads this, PLEASE train your staff to have better customer service to your patients. Or hire a team that actually wants to helps, like you do. You should actually hire people that are just like you. You are the best and you deserve a better staff. Also, isn't It part of the doctors ethical oath to treat their patients and not turn away? I am pretty sure that includes your staff. The staff at Dr. Ashburn should never turn away patients.
I am sure the nurses could have removed the object at Dr. Ashburn's office because that is what they are trained to do. If I can do it, they can surely do it. I was given the run around today and that is a big no, no especially with a sensitive subject as a 4 year old potentially being harmed. They are just not willing to help out and no one should have to go through what I went though today. This has lead me to believe that for now with the team that Dr. Ashburn has it makes so that Dr. Ashburn is a very unreliable doctor.
Also, in the past, I have had to wait like 2 months to get to see Dr. Ashburn for my daughters shots. They only had appointments that were two months away from the time I called and scheduled the appointment. That was annoying but whatever, I waited and I was "PATIENT" lol.
Alright that's it. read more
