First, they have options for white or multi-grain buns, both costing the same. Since I like to be healthy, I chose multi-grain. Good on them for offering bun options since most other restaurants only offer white buns. Second, they have awesome service, with the employees knowing many of the regulars and offering options for customers to get more value for their meal. However, I ordered a swiss melt burger...and the patty was extremely dry. They advertised juicy burgers, but my burger was anything but. The grilled mushrooms were minimal, and the grilled onions were pretty much regular raw onions placed on the grill...which actually didn't taste too bad. Finally, the onion in the onion rings were good, but the coating was too hard and too crispy. I'll probably give Sonny's and Frat Burger a try before I come back here.

Excellent fish, like one of the best fish and chips I've had and I've had a ton of that! Crisp on the fish was great, flakey inside without it falling apart. Fries were great as well but would like to see more fries on the plate. Shrimp was also really really good. I think it's hard to screw up grilled shrimp but their seasoning was cajun style and very good. Probably won't be in the area often but it's a great spot for some great fish and chips and clearly a neighbourhood classic.

I've had their caesar salad too and although the romaine lettuce was quite fresh, it's not worth the price of $11.00. Chef on Call opens until ungodly hours (2 a.m.) which is great if you're suddenly hungry. They have fast delivery and service. Chef on Call won't disappoint.

We received our shrimp hush puppies which had virtually no shrimp in them. Just tasted like fried cornmeal that we payed way too much for. On top of that, I found a shrimp tail in my hush puppies. We also ordered a side of fries. Our fries were soggy and looked old. Definitely not fresh. On top of that, we found half a potato in the fries. Not cut up or cooked or anything. Just a potato in our fries. We all also ordered whiskey sours which were not good. We've had whiskey sours before but Kentucky somehow managed to mess those up to. We also noticed that most of the bartenders and cooks and waiters were not wearing masks even though mask mandates are still in place. Our waitress wasn't really attentive and we had to wait long before getting her attention each time. Only go for the vibes but the food and drinks are not worth the price at all.

We ordered: blue crab hashbrowns (the only standout; would definitely order again, except that I won't likely return), salt roasted beets, brussel sprout caesar, scallops, and duck breast; then we both had creme brûlée and espresso. We tried the three white wines, one was a forgettable Chardonnay and the other two...were equally forgettable, notwithstanding being less common grapes. Only the duck was a main-size serving, and we only chose it because when we ordered there was only one order of scallops remaining (for a 5:30 seating!). I want to say "just as well" because the scallops and sauce were bland so we got to try something else...however the duck was not merely uninteresting but the red pepper sauce didn't complement and contributed nothing. The scallops were priced like a main but only four little guys on the plate, the one upside if we had both chosen them we'd have had room for another order of those crab hashbrowns. The beets were also dull, no idea why the word salt is in the name because it was absent from the dish. No tang to anything except the brussel Caesar. I've seen the brussel sprout restaurant renaissance of the last 10-15 years, this dish is pretty common now. This one was on a par with many others I've had but no improvement, and some might be put off: fully half the outer leaves are charred to the point of becoming a mouthful of ash. Not crispy, just dry ash. I guess that's different...and maybe this is the root of the problem. This restaurant makes a point of changing their menu constantly; not just seasonally, but weekly, even daily. So maybe they're just trying out stuff that pops into the chef's head. With the exception of the crab, every dish seemed to need something to make it interesting or appealing. The espresso was good, but the creme brûlée was another ill conceived concoction, with some kind of raspberry trifle thing on the bottom and the creme was a strange thick porridge-like texture and not quite the typical flavour. Last complaint: their self-description says Elevated Comfort. No. Mundane bistro look and ok seating, but that steep and poorly lit descent to the basement washrooms is the opposite of comfort. Hey, maybe we just picked the wrong items from their evolving experiment of a menu. The people are all nice, the service was good, and none of the food was bad...just meh.

The turkey was juicy and moist and the meatloaf was also moist yet well constructed. Both dishes came with carrots that were cooked tender but still firm. We chose Cole slaw as our side and it was lovely. The restaurant itself is located in a strip mall and therefore has a lot of parking. The interior is warm, scrubbed clean and inviting.
