Booooring. Good service, typical boutique / tourist destination restaurant pricing (not cheap), mostly small plate servings...but overall a disappointment. We ordered: blue crab hashbrowns (the only standout; would definitely order again, except that I won't likely return), salt roasted beets, brussel sprout caesar, scallops, and duck breast; then we both had creme brûlée and espresso. We tried the three white wines, one was a forgettable Chardonnay and the other two...were equally forgettable, notwithstanding being less common grapes. Only the duck was a main-size serving, and we only chose it because when we ordered there was only one order of scallops remaining (for a 5:30 seating!). I want to say "just as well" because the scallops and sauce were bland so we got to try something else...however the duck was not merely uninteresting but the red pepper sauce didn't complement and contributed nothing. The scallops were priced like a main but only four little guys on the plate, the one upside if we had both chosen them we'd have had room for another order of those crab hashbrowns. The beets were also dull, no idea why the word salt is in the name because it was absent from the dish. No tang to anything except the brussel Caesar. I've seen the brussel sprout restaurant renaissance of the last 10-15 years, this dish is pretty common now. This one was on a par with many others I've had but no improvement, and some might be put off: fully half the outer leaves are charred to the point of becoming a mouthful of ash. Not crispy, just dry ash. I guess that's different...and maybe this is the root of the problem. This restaurant makes a point of changing their menu constantly; not just seasonally, but weekly, even daily. So maybe they're just trying out stuff that pops into the chef's head. With the exception of the crab, every dish seemed to need something to make it interesting or appealing. The espresso was good, but the creme brûlée was another ill conceived concoction, with some kind of raspberry trifle thing on the bottom and the creme was a strange thick porridge-like texture and not quite the typical flavour. Last complaint: their self-description says Elevated Comfort. No. Mundane bistro look and ok seating, but that steep and poorly lit descent to the basement washrooms is the opposite of comfort. Hey, maybe we just picked the wrong items from their evolving experiment of a menu. The people are all nice, the service was good, and none of the food was bad...just meh. read more

We chose Elizabeth for dinner in advance of 8PM theatre tickets and made reservations via the Internet. We were seated upon arrival and the place was busy enough on a Friday night to make us glad we reserved a table. The staff were friendly and welcoming and our server spent time with us to explain the small plates concept of the restaurant. The servings are designed to be shared and the servings are larger than traditional Tapas. 3 - 4 shared dishes were recommended for a party of 2. We went for 3 plus dessert. Our choices were Grilled Brussel Sprout Cesar, Braised Short Rib Stuffed Yorkshire Puddings, and Wild Blue Crab Cake. Dessert was Creme Brulee. All were well prepared, nicely plated, ample, and delicious. We were very, very satisfied. Compared with our dinner the night after we were happy with the overall price paid and the ambiance. The place was fairly full but yet didn't feel crowded and we were able to converse normally. We never felt rushed and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. We finished our meal with time to stroll to the Festival theatre along the river with time to relax on a bench and watch the world. We'll be back. read more

Everything was fantastic from the drinks to the desserts. I really recommend this place if you're visiting Stratford.

Best affogato of my life. Outstanding food. We ate the deep fried deviled eggs (to die for), the carnitas, scallops, Yorkshire beef pudding and brussel sprouts. Oh my!!! read more

The Elizabeth. exceeded all of our expectations!! Walking into this quaint, beautifully decorated restaurant felt like coming home. The servers were all very friendly and it made for a welcoming atmosphere. Watching Brian prepare all of the food in the kitchen by himself was inspiring. We ordered the crispy deviled eggs, the butternut squash and brown butter ravioli, seared scallops with corn succotash, wild blue crab cake and affogato for dessert. Each dish was perfectly prepared and delicious. It was enjoyable meeting Brian and Sarah , we look forward to coming back next year when we are in town and hope to enjoy many more inspired meals with them. read more

We loved this place ! Incredibly friendly staff & delicious food. I seriously got two orders of Corn Ribs just for myself, they're incredible. Bread Service was great. We also got the Crispy Chicken / Fried Chicken appetizer & a few other small plates including the beets - another stand-out veg dish. Everything was well prepared and fresh. We went to Elizabeth. after viewing their menu on the web. We found that the restaurant specializes in small plates and a wide range of wines. We selected three plates, each one better than previous. Since the menu undergoes changes by season and availability, I don't know what will be on offer when YOU go there! We had the scallops and corn succotash, the roasted brussel sprouts and beets, and the beef in Yorkshire pudding. Each plate was marvelous and perfect to share between us. The service was friendly, engaging, and informative. One caution, though! The chef/owner prepares each plate as an order is received, so you may have to wait a bit to see your food gloriously on the table! read more

What to say about this GEM of a restaurant?! Our party of five came for dinner on the second of our four days in Stratford. . . And halfway through the meal asked if we could come back the next evening as well. The menu changes regularly but everything we had on both nights was terrific. Some standouts were the whipped hummus, the scallops, the honey butter chicken, and all three of the desserts (bourbon cheesecake, crème brûlée, and the deep fried apple pie). The staff both nights were delightful and it was fun to occasionally interact with the chef (who is visible as he works and brought one dish directly to the table). I'm not sure when we'll be back to Stratford (we live far away) but we'll be booking our reservations in advance when we do!!! read more

What a ridiculous experience at Elizabeth this weekend. We had a reservation booked 5 days in advance for 7pm on the 22nd of Oct. When we arrive someone, who I assumed was the manager, came over and demanded email proof of our reservation. My normal experience is you provide your name and they confirm your reservation on their reservation list. Not here, demand proof and when you can't provide it (it was on a work phone) you are refused your table. I get there are growing pains with a new restaurant but essentially accusing your customer of lying and refusing service because of their inability to track their own reservations crosses a line for me. Mistakes get made but how you deal with them defines the experience, and Elizabeth fell exceptionally short in dealing with their own mistake. We won't be back any time soon. Lots people were out that night and everywhere we went was booked solid but Braai House to the rescue, without a reservation and a full dining room they made room for us and served an excellent meal, as always. Thank you Braai for being what hospitality should be. read more
