We went here for a birthday brunch and let me say, it's probably one of the most beautiful and unique restaurants settings I've been to in a long time. This restaurant's sit in an old revitalized church and there is a lot of charm to it. From the stain glass windows to the beautiful chandeliers, it's definitely a beautiful place for any celebration. The staff here are very friendly however we did get a newer staff member who seems to not know the menu well. We had a misorders and the food did take a while to come out. Mind you, we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big concern and they were very apologetic for bringing us the wrong food, which they corrected promptly. The food itself was good. Everything came out on warm plates and tasted great. We went for brunch so we had brunch/lunch options for food. I will say the food was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. You definitely come here for the ambiance more than the food. Though despite saying that, the fries were super crispy and hot, and I really enjoyed the duck flat bread which was pretty unique. The atmosphere and vibes are immaculate. Love that they kept the high church ceilings, stainless glass, and organ as decor and really leaned into that aesthetic. Food-wise, pretty average brunch/lunch menus. They did have a nice variety of eggs Benedict renditions and sandwiches. Service seemed a bit slow & not too familiar with the menu, but still pleasant. We tried: -Duck flatbread (5/5, loved the textures and the pickled pear flavours) -Leek & smoked Salmon tart (4/5, I will say the tart had an incredibly tiny portion) -Beef & shrimp eggs Benedict (4/5) -Steak & eggs -fried Chicken burger -monte cristo sandwich -Reuben sandwich Honestly, all the food tasted good and was cooked well. What a pleasant surprise!! Amid all the architectural splendor of Stratford and its beautiful Jacobean gardens and lake and river, we happened to stumble on what looked like a historic church. At the time it was newly and creatively constructed renovated. And the food matched the expectations!! Really good job delivering scrumptious cuisine. My on complaint was a minor one. I happened upon the owner who was quite approachable, He told me that the bartender was fairly new and didn't know how market the drinks yet. But they happened to have a great find, Ambassador Rose and Elderflower Gin, so they could make my favorite specialty cocktail, called a Bitter Kiss! read more

We have walked by Revival House several times and finally stopped in for an afternoon cocktail. The aesthetics of the building are stunning and we enjoyed sitting inside. There were no seats outside or we would have taken a seat outside. It was very busy for lunch. As we were there a gentleman was setting up to play on the piano. I imagine it gets busy in the evenings. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our drinks were brought to us almost immediately. Overall we enjoyed our time at Revival House. read more

A real disappointment. This place makes all kinds of "must try" lists for your trip to Stratford. Now, I acknowledge that I went for lunch in November and therefore the gardens were dead but surely the curb appeal wasn't the whole appeal right? Firstly, this place claims to be wheelchair accessible. There is a makeshift plywood ramp off the parking lot which is not the main door. So technically you can get in the back door. But you cannot access the upper dining room or the basement bathrooms. So not truly accessible. When we arrived we were told the furnace wasn't working so they wanted to seat us upstairs where it was warmer. After pointing out the no elevator issue they seated us (there were several other tables sat) on the main floor. It was freezing. As in they brought us blankets, we kept our coats on, eventually mid meal space heaters were brought over FREEZING. And for all that people rave about the church atmosphere, it is basically a church where their pews were removed and mismatched catering tables were put down. The lighting is very dark and the original church lights don't provide enough for dining. There were again mismatched floor lamps scattered but none turned on. Service was slow. Our waitress was helping 4 tables and it took about 15 min to get water and a (cold) hot tea. Their cheap individual tea pots spilled everywhere. I had soup which was also lukewarm. And their mushroom crostini. It was the best of the lot but at $17 I expected more than about 8 thin wafer chips (if it was focaccia then it was put through the deli slicer as it was paper thin) and a small ramekin of mushroom and cheese that while tasty was impossible to spread onto the crostini without breaking the cracker. The cheese was not a spreadable texture and you basically spooned moderately warm crumbed cheese and mushrooms onto your broken cracker. My dining companion felt similarly about their soup and proclaimed the Reuben sandwich was ok. Maybe if you're sitting outside on the patio in the summer you could overlook what to me was an extremely mediocre dining experience that was not at all made up for by the "amazing atmosphere" the influencers are raving about. read more

This place is a restored church turned into a restaurant. The service was friendly and quick. The environment was unique which adds to the joy of dining there. I have no complaints about the food's quality. However, the portion was small. I was advised by the server that portions are normally big so I opted for the small portion which wasn't true. The service was quick and the server was friendly However (I realize the pricing of things) BUT I had a Summer Salad (way too much dressing) and added chicken breast (which only when I received the bill was I aware that it was $8!!! Had I known the cost of a breast in desperate need of some "muscle", I would've ordered something different. So I paid $29 for a soggy, small breasted chicken salad My husband was luckier than me as he got a full sized chicken breast sandwich and fries for $21!! Revival House - absolutely must visit this amazing place! Having brunch at Revival House was the most fantastic way to end off a weekend visit to Stratford. We made reservations a week in advance for brunch. When we arrived, my party of 4 were seated next to some beautiful stained glass windows and near the main stage area. The atmosphere is unmatched - a mix of calming yet very opulent. Our waitress was fantastic and really attentive. Food came fast (pictures attached) and was delicious. Will absolutely be back and would recommend this place over and over again, whether it be for a special occasion or just to treat yourself. Would love to try the dinner and/or shows here. read more

Spectacular setting| We had eaten here years ago when it was called The Church (seeing as how the restaurant is carved out of an old church in downtown Stratford). Wonderful ambiance, superlative service, and an exquisite meal! I had the Tandoori Chicken, mozzarella, spinach, red onion, chill oil, crème fraîche and my partner enjoyed the seafood special, trout on a bed of greens and noodles topped with a vibrant addition. She declared it the finest trout dinner she has ever had! Kudos to the chefs, the wait staff, and the other employees who maintain this wonderful facility! read more

I hate writing bad reviews but I have to in this case. I think unfortunately due to low staffing this place is not to the point where it should be open for business. May need to be more honest about their service levels and open when they can meet basic turnaround times and better food taste. It took us two hours to get our food after ordering and when it did arrive, there was barely any shrimp in the shrimp Mac n cheese, the Brie was not warm and the soup had barely any flavor. We were looking forward to a relaxing dinner given we had booked reservations 2.5 hours before our play started but we had to leave 5 mins after the food finally arrived to get to the show on time. Inside and outside were only half full so I have to imagine it's a staffing issue although not sure how the food still wasn't good after the wait. Update: food was comped--only paid for the alcohol. Waiter apologized but no word from manager or owner. Would not return. read more

Destroying a restaurants because they're coping with whiplash from the lockdowns is unwarranted. Show up earlier if you have somewhere to be. Literally every restaurant in town is understaffed. We have been coming to this restaurant every year when we visit Stratford. Tonight we arrived at 5:30 for a pre-play dinner. At 7:25, our dinner still had not arrived. When I told them we had a play, we were told "Everyone in here is going to the theater." Our waitress was nice, but she rarely visited and we had to ask for water multiple times. Finally, we asked to pay for our drinks and left. Very disappointing for a restaurant right across from 2 theaters with theater clientele. read more

Very disappointed, had high hopes as the place looked very high end, but service was very slow and food mediocre. Drinks and food took forever leaving us to have to eat fast to make our 8pm show. Partner ordered what was advertised in the menu as mushroom gnocchi which had zero mushrooms in it. Felt like the kitchen just decided to just make something other than what was on the menu and figured we wouldn't notice. I ordered the steak frites which was the most pathetic portion I've ever seen. We ate at Mercer house the night before and my partner ordered their steak frites and it was a whole steak bigger than my hand for $35. Revival's was 2 measly pieces that were overcooked for $48. Stratford is supposed to renowned for its fine dining and this was anything but. At least had the courtesy to not charge us for the gnocchi, but then the bill wound up being $165 (including only 15% tip), meanwhile our dinner at Mercer house cost exactly the same and was far superior. We had a 5:30 reservation and discussed with our waiter on arrival we had an 8pm play. We thought we would have more than enough time for dinner. We placed our dinner orders and an appetizer along with a bottle of wine. The wine and lukewarm Brie came in a reasonable time. Our waiter said our food would be out shortly. We waited... and waited... finally, a one hour and 55 minutes later (7:25pm), just as we were getting ready to leave our food arrived. Not only did it take nearly 2 hours to arrive and at the point we needed to leave for the play- but the food was subpar. Aesthetic: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 3/5 If you can snag a table on the balcony area of the upper floor, do it. You'll get to enjoy an overhead view of the church & bar during your meal. Amazing concept for a restaurant. I feel the conversion was done perfectly, modernizing in the right areas without overwriting the original church structure and aesthetic entirely. My partner & I are vegetarians with small stomachs. We were able to make the menu work for us, but did feel that our waitress was oddly surprised at how little food we ordered. I may have misread the reaction but I did feel momentarily uncomfortable, as though we were "doing it wrong." We had the frites and the cheese board. This is the first time I have ever seen orange cheese on an artisanal board in a nice restaurant. I am a bit of a health nut, and given that cheese is only orange due to food colouring (which is horribly unhealthy for us), I simply avoid it in my day to day life. Luckily, my partner didn't mind so the cheese didn't go to waste. I thoroughly enjoyed the blue that we were served. The paired garnishes were on point. Cocktails! We ordered the sampler - three seasonal cocktails in smaller amounts. My partner & I both loved one, disliked one, and felt neutral to the third. We did not share the same tastes, so it really is a subjective experience, and getting to sample in this way was very fun for us. The food was undercooked and flavourless which is unfortunate since it isn't cheap... The atmosphere is nice; however, the diminishing service left me uncomfortable. Way over-priced! We don't mind paying well for fine food, but the new Revival House (like the Church it replaced) is too much for what you get. The food was fine, but $12 for a tomato? Similar for a cold cucumber soup? $24 for a bison burger? I had the pork sandwich ($20) which was good tasting with a decent slaw but it was so greasy! My hands were dripping with fat with every bite! Plowman's lunch husband had seemed good. They need to look at Sirkel Foods which seems to have a line out the door every lunch. We saw several people come in, look at menu and leave. (Tip: Don't put a $24 hamburger as your first item...) We spent $90 on lunch for 4, with no alcohol. read more

I wish they had warned us like some places do-eg the cook is behind so we can't take any orders until "such and such" time. We couldn't say enough great things about our experience at Revival House. From the moment we walked in, we were treated as if we were guests of honour. The owner, Rob, was so friendly and worked right along with his staff. He did everything he could to make our experience memorable. Everything we ordered was amazing and our waiter, Christopher, was so kind and funny. He made sure that we were having a good time and were well looked after. It wasn't only the food that made the experience so memorable, it was the character of the building, the way the staff made us feel, the live music, and the choir loft view! Full disclosure: we attended a Stratford Symphony Orchestra concert (excellent) "brunch included" Concert excellent, certainly, but perhaps our expectations were out of whack - to say that 'brunch' was underwhelming was putting it mildly - despite getting there at the time stated on the ticket, they had already run out of one of the two limited options on the menu. The 'baked eggs' (only option!) were basically hard boiled eggs and the green salad - just that - mixed greens with a generic dressing. Minimal and uninspiring. Offered coffee, I accepted, my husband asked for water instead - waitress filled both of our wine glasses with water (never asked if I wanted water) - and - amazingly - never asked either of us at any point if we wanted anything else to drink (apart from coffee refills). To get a drink necessitated a trip to the bar in the interval! As said, perhaps our expectations were inaccurate - if advertised as a concert (perhaps with an option of a coffee/glass of wine and possibly a snack) - this may well have been reasonable value; it was a fundraiser after all - just don't advertise it as a 'brunch'!! read more

We made reservations one month in advance for a Tuesday at 6 pm. On our arrival I noticed they were about 1/4 full or around 30 people seated. After taking our drink order, the server asked if we were going to the theater and we replied no. I wonder if this is why they put our order "on the back burner" Our food order went to the kitchen at 6:20 pm and we waited and waited, another drink order and waited and waited. Our 5 orders came out at 7:30 pm. So our food order took over an hour which I believe is about 20 min too long. If this is the result of getting others their meals ahead of ours then I don't agree with this practice. As I mentioned, we made our reservations a month in advance, so we should been served without any delay. Because of this, I will not return with my four guests. read more

However, if you dare to bring a child to this place, expect to be treated like a leper by the waitstaff. Further, the prices are even higher than Toronto ($32 + tip for 2 cocktails and a soda water). First visit was Sunday brunch. Very pleasant décor, though the air conditioning vents on the floor blowing up the customers legs is something they might want to re-consider. Servers were pleasant but not very attentive. Food wise, the eggs benedict were almost rock hard, which is not good, but the fries were the best. One annoying problem was the bill: they made a slight error, which is not a big deal, but when questioned they basically said it was our mistake, not theirs, then agreed to deduct the amount in question as if they were doing us a favour. All in all though I would give it another try. They just need to smooth out some of the rough edges, and do something about those vents on the floor. Brunch prices seem reasonable, but I don't think the same could be said for dinner, judging from the on-line menu. read more

Going downhill. Chef from last year has apparently left. Last years Sous Chef moved up to chef. Had dinner there last week and it's definitely not as good as last year. Very long wait for main course to arrive after the appetizer. Compared to last year (some of our best meals in Stratford) the flavors just weren't there. Revived a hotel stay and theatre tickets for Christmas, waited 5 months to visit Stratford for the first time - was able to get a reservation at Revival this past weekend with what we thought would have been plenty of time to eat and make our show. Sat upstairs where there were about 8 tables was a great area of the resto, main floor wasn't open yet. Ordered a drink and an app, took 30 mins, an hour passed without us receiving our mains yet and our show was starting in 30 mins, we were told the kitchen was backed up and offered bread. With no time to eat and make our show we were apologized to and comped our 1 drink and bowl of olives. Ruined our one night out and Stratford experience, went hungry till 11pm till we were able to get back to the hotel and order Gino's pizza. Thanks for the hospitality Revival, very poor service. read more

Lovely patio, nice and shady spots to stay cool. Lunch was good, fried chicken sandwich (crispy and flavourful) with kimchi and really good hand cut fries. The beer prices are average but the mixed drinks are pricey (yes 2 oz but I really only need 1 oz). The service is excellent and our waitress was extremely sweet, friendly and thoughtful about when to approach the table. Small menu, nice to see a bit more variety, but hopefully it changes up a bit for a second visit. read more
