For the tasting menu you don't know what you're going to get as it's not listed anywhere, likely because they change up the items so frequently based on what's in season and fresh. I won't go into full detail about all the items because everything was amazinnnng and this would be too long a review. In addition to the tasting menu, we also got a fresh oyster and delicious bread with sheep's milk cheese to kick off the meal.. it was such a pleasant surprise. When the servers bring each dish and explain what everything is, you can really tell that so much thought goes into each dish in terms of how the chef pairs all the flavours and best ingredients. The tomatoes in the salad starter for example, was picked that same morning. Every dish had so many components too -- for my picture captions, I put what I could remember. The flavours in each dish was so elevated, we were all literally spooning out every last drop everytime LOL. I loved the fact that the tasting menu came with 2 of each course because the variety was amazing... each of the two were so completely different from the other. This experience was incredible and so fun to try such good food! I would come here all the time if I could afford to but for now, can't wait until the next special occasion to come again!

The strangest part was the register to pay for the meal if you don't want to hand your card to a server (which, to reiterate, is hard to attract.) The station is at the entry where people wait to get in, and it was some time before someone came to take the payment. They do take reservations, and often are pretty busy with locals. We even saw a party that didn't have a reservation leave because they couldn't get a table for quite a while - and this was on a Thursday, relatively early. I'm glad my cousin likes this place, but I wasn't impressed.

We ordered: blue crab hashbrowns (the only standout; would definitely order again, except that I won't likely return), salt roasted beets, brussel sprout caesar, scallops, and duck breast; then we both had creme brûlée and espresso. We tried the three white wines, one was a forgettable Chardonnay and the other two...were equally forgettable, notwithstanding being less common grapes. Only the duck was a main-size serving, and we only chose it because when we ordered there was only one order of scallops remaining (for a 5:30 seating!). I want to say "just as well" because the scallops and sauce were bland so we got to try something else...however the duck was not merely uninteresting but the red pepper sauce didn't complement and contributed nothing. The scallops were priced like a main but only four little guys on the plate, the one upside if we had both chosen them we'd have had room for another order of those crab hashbrowns. The beets were also dull, no idea why the word salt is in the name because it was absent from the dish. No tang to anything except the brussel Caesar. I've seen the brussel sprout restaurant renaissance of the last 10-15 years, this dish is pretty common now. This one was on a par with many others I've had but no improvement, and some might be put off: fully half the outer leaves are charred to the point of becoming a mouthful of ash. Not crispy, just dry ash. I guess that's different...and maybe this is the root of the problem. This restaurant makes a point of changing their menu constantly; not just seasonally, but weekly, even daily. So maybe they're just trying out stuff that pops into the chef's head. With the exception of the crab, every dish seemed to need something to make it interesting or appealing. The espresso was good, but the creme brûlée was another ill conceived concoction, with some kind of raspberry trifle thing on the bottom and the creme was a strange thick porridge-like texture and not quite the typical flavour. Last complaint: their self-description says Elevated Comfort. No. Mundane bistro look and ok seating, but that steep and poorly lit descent to the basement washrooms is the opposite of comfort. Hey, maybe we just picked the wrong items from their evolving experiment of a menu. The people are all nice, the service was good, and none of the food was bad...just meh.

Our choices were Grilled Brussel Sprout Cesar, Braised Short Rib Stuffed Yorkshire Puddings, and Wild Blue Crab Cake. Dessert was Creme Brulee. All were well prepared, nicely plated, ample, and delicious. We were very, very satisfied. Compared with our dinner the night after we were happy with the overall price paid and the ambiance. The place was fairly full but yet didn't feel crowded and we were able to converse normally. We never felt rushed and the staff were attentive without being intrusive. *Shameful service leaving two 90+yr olds without a Christmas dinner*…read moreWe called Milestones at the Boardwalk first, detailing our wish to have a nice steak dinner delivered to two nonagenarians (as a treat for them from the bland Meals on Wheels dinners, they usually get). We live out of town and could not deliver ourselves. They told us to pre-order with Skip The Dishes. We filled out the online form with 'Skip' on December 22nd, with a 4:45 to 5:15 pm delivery window. Gave explicit detailed instructions for delivery including their phone number for building access, reference to them being elderly and added a good tip. Total bill was $135.90 We rec'd a phone call from the Skip driver at 8:15 pm on the 24th. Saying he could not get them to answer their phone to let him in. Well guess why? That was 3 hours later than the pre-determined delivery window. He then told us he had just received the delivery notice from Milestones 20 minutes earlier!! Huh?? Well, by that time they had eaten a self-prepared simple meal and the woman had gone to bed. The man was on his way to bed. We started calling their apartment ourselves, and finally the 93-year old man buzzed the driver in. He was pretty upset and disappointed. Too late to try and eat it, he had a peak at the food and was surprised to see such a small offering of food. The "mixed grill" of vegetables was according to him - a raw carrot and a couple of peas. He told us that he would have to make a side dish himself in order to make the meal enough to eat. When they attempted to eat the dinner the next day described the steak as "black" on the outside and "raw" on the inside, and incredibly tough to chew. Over the next 3 days, we tried to call Milestones and speak to the manager "Gavin". We were repeatedly assured he would call us "the next day". On the 3rd day, we spoke to someone identifying himself as the head cook, and he told us to call 'Skip', but that he would still have Gavin call on the 27th. Surprise, surprise - no call. An online chat with a 'Skip' employee (Nicole B.) resulted in many apologies and a whopping refund of $57.00. I was repeatedly told by Nicole that Skip's company policy did not allow her to give back a full refund. And only food costs are covered. I asked to escalate to Admin, and she ended the chat window. And we just finally got through to a managerial assistant at Milestones, who denies any responsiblity (even for the poor quality of the food) blaming it all on 'Skip'. Kept telling us to call them. I kept telling her we had. And reminded her that it was Milestones who told us to use 'Skip' in the first place. Bah Humbug both to Milestones and to Skip the Dishes.
