Wonderful establishment. The food is amazing. We of course…read morehad the broasted chicken as this it what this restaurant is known for. There are various plate sizes available. There is an attached store where you can buy assorts of baked goods, take away broasted chicken, and textiles. I tried a pie but I couldn't finish it as I was full! For me the service wasn't the best, I have been twice and the first visit we were told the regular plate only has two pieces of chicken the second time we had 3 as per the menu. It felt when communicating with staff they didn't want deal with us. There were people who were seated after us but were served before us. The atmosphere is relaxed, quiet, there can be a wait as this place is popular.

Based on a recommendation to come here I saw fried chicken and didn't care about anything else. We…read morelucked out because our wait time was only 30 min just past the lunch around 1-2pm. Usual wait time I've heard is over an hour or more. When you walk in the restaurant is to your left where you wait on church pews. Put your name on the list and wait. But the right side of the entrance door is a big space full of locally produced items for sale along with some toys and things. They also have freezers full of their food for sale including desserts and gluten free items. They have fresh butter there as well. The selling point for me was their front aisle full of desserts from cookies to cupcakes to tarts to fresh bread! And their front of store where the cash is; is the gold mine of all the pies you can dream of. It's literally pie heaven and donuts. EVERYTHING is made in house it seems or local for sure. Nothing is mass produced here. So this front of store will keep you occupied until your table is ready. Once you are seated. The menu is small. Average. But it's their best seller the BROASTED chicken. (Broasted chicken is a type of fried chicken cooked in a pressure fryer, which combines pressure cooking with deep frying.) and they have a $25 combo which includes soup/salad and bread, broastech chicken plus side and veggies (corn, mash potatoes, fries, coleslaw) and then dessert included. Any pies/cakes on the menu!! You must try this place out. I will be back most definitely!! It's 30 min west of St Jacob's market. Worth the drive!!!!

Montana's - No mayo, no tomato, no mushrooms, no onion just peppers... and clearly not a black bean patty.

This experience was so poor that it deserves to be shared. I…read moreasked what the soup of the day was. My server said she thought it was cream of broccoli but would confirm. She returned--not with an answer--but to ask if I was ready to order. I asked what kind of veggie burger patty they used (black bean or masala). She confidently said black bean. It was not. It was some kind of soy/curd, meat-textured patty that was unappetizing and nothing like what I ordered. The kitchen couldn't even follow their own recipe. My veggie burger arrived missing tomato, mayo, mushrooms, and onions. I had to ask for them separately just to assemble my own burger. I had to request cutlery after finishing my soup. When I asked for a box for my burger, my server automatically assumed I wanted the bill. I told her I wanted dessert to go. She rang in my dessert--and again brought the bill unprompted, while I was still watching the ball game and planning to order another drink. When she finally brought my next beverage, she followed it up immediately with another bill. I didn't even touch it. At that point, it was obvious I wasn't welcome to stay any longer. My drink had barely two sips out of it when she returned with the machine for payment. I even said, "Wow, you must really need my table or something." Her response was a sharp, defensive snap. My dessert arrived in a plastic container. I stacked my boxes, left my half-finished drink, and left. When I got back to my accommodations and opened my dessert, I found a half-dead fly in the cookie crumbs. Absolutely disgusting. I am extremely unhappy, unsatisfied, and honestly grossed out. I spent money on food and drinks I couldn't even enjoy. The lack of care, attention, and basic service--especially toward a solo diner--is unacceptable. Servers need to remember: a table of one still deserves respect. I could have easily stayed for another round, left a generous tip, and written a positive review. Instead, I left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and disgusted. Ricki B--do better.

I stopped here for dinner with 3 friends before a play, as they had never been to a Montana's and I…read morehad enjoyed the one in Windsor some years ago. Big mistake. The best thing about the place was our server, Ryan. This young man was very pleasant and helpful. One of us asked for two different rib sauces on the side in the little plastic cups and Ryan ended up doing that for all of us. Everyone ordered the ribs and wing combo but we tried some different sides. At first my plate arrived with cole slaw instead of the baked beans I ordered, but Ryan brought the beans and let me keep the cole slaw. The second best thing, though nothing great, was the dessert. We ordered 2 of the chocolate chip cookies with ice cream. That's relatively hard to make inedible and the cookies were at least warm and the ice cream serving was a respectable size. So the dessert and Ryan earned the 2 stars. Now on to our meals... Everything on all the plates ranged from cold (french fries) to barely warm (ribs, baked beans). All of the ribs were overcooked and dry. While we ordered the ribs with sauce on the side, they had no juice at all. The beans weren't spicy, and they were not very sweet either. On top of that, they were rather cold. The cole slaw was very bland. Some celery salt or other seasonings could have made a big difference in the flavor. I only ate about half of the slaw and beans because they just weren't worth eating. The wings were less overdone than the ribs, but were still not hot. The worst parts of the meal were the last two items. My appetizer of burnt ends, were burnt to the point of being charcoal. I know burnt ends are kind of fatty, but several pieces had no meat at all and were just burnt fat. We had a lot of fun at the expense of what we termed "petrified" corn bread. All of us received these overdone, dry as a bone, inedible hockey pucks. This was such a disappointment as I wanted to show my Yankee friends the Canadian version of Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn or Outback. What we received wasn't worthy of being served in any country as fare for dinner, especially in a city known for excellent grub like Stratford. Since we had a play to catch we weren't about to make a fuss, but Montana's is off my list of dining options now in any city. Yech.

Delicious food. Excellent service. Cool, colorful decor. Fun ambiance. What more could you ask for?…read more I really love the decor and vibe here. Everything is warm and welcoming. The staff is attentive and kind. I loved my Caesar salad! It already came with bacon and I added shrimp too. The Miso-Caesar dressing was delicious. I had a non alcoholic seltzer with cardamom and it was delicious. I enjoyed my side of fries with the homemade aioli too. My friends loved their falafel smash burger and fried chicken sandwich. Everything here is homemade and made from scratch. I would gladly come back.

Decent food and lovely server. HOWEVER, busy, crowded, and noisy…read more We reserved a table for 2 at 6PM on a Saturday evening for dinner ahead of an 8PM curtain. We were seated without delay at a table along the wall opposite the kitchen. There seemed to be a lot of tables and all were full. It was a very hot day, 30C with humidity, and we were very glad to be indoors with AC. Our server was a lovely man and we enjoyed our conversations, these went beyond just our meals and included baseball and his sister's farm. Unsurprisingly we consider the service superb. We ordered the Buttermilk Chicken and the Classic Bento Box, our meals came quickly and portions were fine. Quibbles I had with the Bento box are as follows: I found the Miso soup a bit too salty and a bit thin on Miso. The Kimchi seemed a bit on the acidy side to me. Having steamed rice paired with dumplings and Karaage chicken seems pointless. Sort of like having bread served with your hot dog. I did enjoy the pork and shrimp dumplings and the chicken was also good. As mentioned the room was loud, the sound pressure level seemed high and required speaking louder than normal to have a conversation with my spouse. Once past the bar, there is a line of tables down one wall and opposite the kitchen. Every single table seemed to hold a party of two and the space used to maximize seating. This narrow space seemed to contain sound and made for a busy and noisy space. All told, it felt like the place was set up to maximize turnover while offering an interesting menu that is competently prepared and served. It would have been better if it was less busy.
