Simple decor, high efficiency, and no nonsense approach with delicious food, Joe's Diner checks all the above. Open for breakfast and lunch this is a popular place with no table left empty for more than a couple minutes. The waitresses are fast and all business. This isn't a place to strike up a conversation. The food is very good with extremely affordable prices. The maple syrup was served in a squeeze bottle that I typically see reserved for malt vinegar or mustard, and was a bit watery but the French Toast was delicious. It was light, fluffy, and very eggy. Went for breakfast, food was what was expected for all day breakfast menu. We had to wait in line but that was expected as they were packed on weekday morning. Service was very fast and waitress was very nice. We were not looking for five star dining experience but joes did not disappoint for an average diner style meal. I'm not sure if everyone knows this, but Joe's diner on Erie Street does catering for events, and WOW, My husband, Tony, was looking for a reasonably priced caterer to make sandwiches and salads and stuff for a party for me with about 30 people. He called all over town and was at a loss as to what to order and how much. Someone suggested Joe's diner. He called them. They helped him choose exactly what he needed and were very professional. They took all the worry for the party away from him and the food was delicious. Home cooked roast beef on pretzel buns and homemade turkey in the wraps and in the macaroni salad, among other delicious food. The two or three previous times he's made arrangements have resulted in lots of stress, and the kids and I going crazy to finish getting things ready. Joe's has done a great job adapting to public health requirements while maintaining their excellent service and food experience. Joe's is a great place for Canadian comfort food in a relaxed atmosphere. Everyone has different tastes but the fries here are just the way I like them: crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, great with gravy. I visit family and friends in Stratford from time-to-time, and twice in a row we've woken up on a Sunday to go grab breakfast at Joe's. The place is a typical home-style diner with furnishings and patters and wall hangings that remind you of a mom's country kitchen. Blue and white and wood-grain. Fortunately for this review, we had the same server twice. And Joe's, if you're reading this, I hope you take heed. The black-haired (mid 30s, bit sloppily dressed, tired/sad look on her face) server ranks as one of the absolute worst I've ever had. But first, the food. Excellent sausages, eggs made to order exactly the way they should be, simple coffee, and great tasting potatoes. Cannot go wrong for a breakfast under $6. The bacon, asked crispy, is fantastic. Nothing burned, over baked, over cooked - or undercooked for that matter - but the person putting the food on our table was a complete grump, twice. This might just be her - I can't quite tell, but it's unfortunate the insensitivity she had for the requirements of her customers. Tabasco slammed on the table. Never asking if 'everything was okay'. After orders, no thanks, no look in the eye, no consideration or respect. I hope there is something done. To Joe's: Love your breakfast and the warm feeling of your restaurant. I eat here all the time. They have the best fish in town. Their food is delicious and they have a menu with a large variety of items to order from. The staff is very friendly and the waitresses always have a smile. I highly recommend this place to everyone. Great food at low prices. read more

On the recommendation of our AirBnB host, we had dinner at Joe's. The pigtails & ribs special was great. No need for a knife as the meat came easily off the bones.(For me the pigtails was a first - barbecued as the ribs.but even more tender.) Dinner for two complete under $40. read more

I've tried to like this place but it just isn't that great. My first visit I had a hair in my food. I gave them another chance because stuff happens but on that second visit I had a piece of metal in my food (looked like a broken piece of metal pot scrubber). I didn't return for a few years but this past weekend and tried one more time and this time the food was just bland. Incredibly bland. Ordered eggs, ham, homefries (they call them homies), toast and a piece of French toast. The homefries had absolutely no flavour and being they are deep-fried the salt I added just fell off so it was pointless. The French toast was like nothing I had expended before. The egg never soaked in so it was a piece of white bread with some egg mixture on the outside, very pale coloured and a minute amount of cinnamon. I added the butter they provided on the plate to add flavour but that only ended up making it taste salty. I tried giving them a fair shake but it's just not that good read more

And while it is hard to mess those up - I had the best blueberry pancake ever in a restaurant) was delicious and the coffee was actually good! First let me say that our server was very pleasant. She took our order promptly and checked a couple of times that everything was okay. My wife and I each had a Senior's Breakfast. The eggs (poached, scrambled) were well-prepared, the sausage and ham were tasty, and the toast (wheat, white) was fine, except that it came in halves with a piece of butter melted in the center, rather than spread or on the side. The coffee was acceptable, though not as flavorful as the Kenya AA that we enjoy at home. We'll certainly return here for breakfast several more times during our stay in Stratford. read more

Some weekends, you just want an inexpensive, traditional diner breakfast. So, if you are looking for the typical, greasy spoon in Stratford, my vote is this one. Consistent and fast but I tend to not go beyond breakfast in this style of restaurant. It seems to be what they are best at and I will stick to it. read more

I used to love coming to Joe's Diner. I would come almost every weekend for breakfast and would only order the eggs Benedict. It was delicious. Lately though they don't seem to care much about regulars or pleasing their customers. I've come every Saturday or Sunday for the last two months and was denied my favourite breakfast at my favourite place because they don't have enough sense to order enough to properly serve their customers. Nothing else on their menu compares to the eggs Benedict and I will not be going back. read more
