They have a new owner who is a trained chef and the food reflects it! Definitely worth the visit!

Brenda's has excellent food and baked goods. Their pumpkin tarts are the best on the planet. We went there twice in two days.

Despite having moved 3 times / the consistency of deliciousness here remains. Staff are always…read morefriendly and welcoming - but its the sandwiches that really keep me coming back every time I'm in Stratford. The newest location is right by the river - with lots of public parking across the street. Beautiful old building and a nicer overall decor than the previous spot. Still colourful - with cool drawings of their famous sandwiches on the walls. Lots on offer, but really, who am I kidding? "Mennonite sandwich, please" is what I said - and what you better say if you know what's good for ya. That delicious summer sausage, fresh corn relish with a subtle but delicious kick of spice. The cheddar - classic taste - nice slice - just how I like it. Definitely not processed cheese. The fresh country white bread - melt in your mouth but still with a crunchy brown crust. MMMMMMMMMennonites seem to have the secret of sandwich making down pat. This is the kind of sandwich that puts hair on your chest...What's that joke - why do Mennonite boys grow beards? Because they want to look just like their moms! Lol a bit off side maybe there - but my point is simple - a hearty, tasty sandwich - one of the best and most classic available in Ontario. Get out there and grab a few. The baking is also delicious!!

Fab! The best sandwiches in Stratford! At INCREDIBLE prices, too!!!…read more Check out the checklist-style takeout menu: http://www.yorkstreetkitchen.com/YSKSandwichmenu.pdf Most of my friends are huge fans of the Mennonite Sandwich. I enjoy the Othello (sans pesto, of course) but most often create-my-own. Last time I was there I had local goats cheese (swoon-inducing) on multigrain (OMG freshly-baked and so so so good) with alfalfa sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, lettuce, roasted sweet red peppers, honey mustard (made by local mennonites!) & mayo. I always add the "deli dills" - I'm pretty sure they're local mennonite too. Needless to say, PHENOMENAL. They also have THE MOST AMAZING 4-bean salad. Try it. Trust me. I don't even LIKE bean salad all that much... this one converted me. Really. GET IT. They lose a star because it's time to fix the service. It takes waaay too long to get your food, and that's true whether you eat in or order from the take-out window. Service is a bit better for breakfast, but still nothing to rave about. Expect to wait 20-30 minutes for your food. The kitchen & waitstaff are unfortunately more often than not visibly frazzled/stressed. I have been here for breakfast a bunch of times, as well as dinner once or twice. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their jam - "moss berry" - never heard of it before or since! For dinner, I've had the Spinach, Marinated Mushroom, Red Onion and Goat Cheese Pizza ($6.50) as well as the Caramelized Broccoli, Red Onion and Ricotta Stuffed Pasta Shells baked in a our slow-cooked Tomato Sauce ($13.95). Both VERY yummy. Their breakfast burrito is legendary. I must recommend it as your first breakfast expedition at YSK. For meat-eaters, try the peameal bacon. LOCAL PORK FACTOIDS: A note on peameal bacon + Stratford: this is prime peameal bacon territory. If you don't make it to YSK, try to get to the Stratford Farmer's Market where you will find a chuckwagon of sorts vending DREAMY peameal bacon sandwiches. OMG. AMAZING. Perth County produces some of the best pork in the country. If you're passing through Shakespeare on the way to Stratford (or back - it's just east of Stratford), make a stop at "The Best Little Pork Shoppe", which is certainly NOT little. Check it out: http://www.porkshoppe.com/ Last interesting pork fact? The Annual Ontario Pork Congress happens in Stratford too. Just one more point in proof that Stratford is THE place to be eating pork. Which I don't, to clarify. I've been a veghead for 13 years now. But I have juicy childhood memories of Saturday mornings at the market with my Dad eating peameal bacon sandwiches with LOCAL bacon, LOCAL cheddar cheese, FRESHLY-CHURNED LOCAL butter on a FRESHLY-BAKED kaiser bun. FOR REAL. Back to TSK breakfast. I've also had the French Toast with local maple syrup and some sort of homemade apple-pie-filling-type side (INCREDIBLE) and the H.M.S. Pinafore Breakfast Sandwich (toasted bagel with that gorgeous local goat cheese, smoked salmon, tomato, onion & lettuce) is worth a try too! So basically, if you're looking for a unique, personality-filled, delicious place for breakfast, brunch or lunch, HEAD HERE!

Came here for dinner when in town and it was such a great meal! My cousin and I both loved our…read moremeals and the plates we shared. Started with the crispy fried rice balls (I'm a sucker for crispy rice and these did not disappoint) and the house cut fries with togarashi aioli to split. Delicious! I could not get enough of those fries. They were perfectly fried and seasoned and the aioli was excellent. For my main I went with the Karaage fried chicken bento box which was a generous portion of chicken with a peanut crunch salad, "scattered" omelette sushi, pork and shrimp gyoza, and a side of miso soup. It was all SO good and SO much food! I was uncomfortably full by the time we finished and packed mine up to go (the chicken made an excellent midnight snack later that night when I had the munchies back at our apartment!) Price point is great, portions are generous, staff was lovely, and the space itself was clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Can't ask for much more! We'll definitely be back!

The menu seemed a combo between Western standards with Asian twist/influence. We ordered the mushroom miso soup as well as the tofu bao, the fried chicken with macaroni salad and the fried chicken with fries. the tofu bao was really good, the tofu was a big size and nice coating. the mushroom miso soup was average, not great. the fries that came with the chicken were fantastic! the macaroni salad was ok, but hot mac n cheese would've gone better with the hot chicken. the chicken and the biscuit were decent. overall good portion size food and decent flavor in a nice ambiance

Beautiful decor! It is so elegant and heavenly white with classical or piano concerto playing in the background!! The dining area could not have been anymore romantic and intimate. My beau and I loved the open brunch table in the centre of the main dining area, where you can get endless servings of fruits including strawberries, pineapples, and dragonfruits!! We have never eaten dragonfruits for brunch at any hotel before! So exotic! We ate so many slices. Service was a collective team effort and everyone was welcoming, attentive and super friendly. I can tell that they all enjoyed working there from their seemingly genuine smiles and bubbly personalities! The food there was so good!! Everything was cooked to perfection! We had their prix Fixe Easter brunch special and it was worth every dollar!! What a beautiful way to celebrate both Easter and my beau's birthday!! My beau was so impressed and thankful of me for booking and paying for brunch here that he is planning to treat me here next year for his not so surprising proposal!!! When the staff knew of his plans, the receptionist immediately gave us a tour of their suites and amenities!! What excellent and attentive service!! I will definitely come back here in the near future for a couple retreat or weekend getaway!! Stratford is such a cute town with so many good restaurants and hotels open during their famous and busy Stratford Festival season, but this hotel and restaurant really stood out to the both of us!! 5/5 would highly recommend!!

The Parlour Inn is a small hotel in the heart of Stratford with plenty of parking, the roomiest of rooms, and a nice attached restaurant. It is partially a historic building, partially an addition. I stayed here for a week and genuinely enjoyed the experience. I booked a two-queen bedroom that had a ton of space. Now I will admit this is where one of the downsides was because despite all this space there wasn't enough drawer space for our small garments that couldn't be hung up. Yet it was a minor inconvenience considering everything else. The bathtub was nice, water pressure great, and water temperature superb. Every night when we returned there was a single rose on the bed! How utterly sweet is that! I had a whole boutique by the time we left! Sadly they would not have survived the trip back home. The walls were a bit thin but that was only problematic on one night when the room next door became rowdy. They eventually calmed down. The restaurant downstairs was super cute and a great place to go for an evening cocktail. Service was a bit all over the place in a charming haphazard way. Many of the younger servers were very new to the job and were still learning which they explained when there were hiccups. I don't think most of them were ever taught how to mix a drink but they did their very best! I very much enjoyed my breakfasts there. I found the dinner food to be fairly ok, but the breakfast shined! Again, service was all over the map 80% of the time but they were very nice about the whole thing and we weren't in any rush. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to the theatre and a pick up. I can't tell you how awesome this is. Initially I was planning on walking everywhere but it quickly became apparent that my mother had misjudged her physical stamina when she agreed to this plan so I was uncertain how this would work. The shuttle service was a vacation-saver. The drivers were super nice, the ability to be dropped off right in front helped my mother, and it was always timely. I honestly had a fantastic time here and would absolutely return!

Dinner was fabulous last night with a 6 oz strip steak with mashed potatoes and vegetables and a wonderful antique rose cocktail. Dessert was the yummy pavlova. Can't wait to come back!
