Tucked in among a small shopping complex a little off the beaten track is Joe's Diner, a classic…read moretrue to the bones diner. Simple decor, high efficiency, and no nonsense approach with delicious food, Joe's Diner checks all the above. Open for breakfast and lunch this is a popular place with no table left empty for more than a couple minutes. The waitresses are fast and all business. This isn't a place to strike up a conversation. The food is very good with extremely affordable prices. The maple syrup was served in a squeeze bottle that I typically see reserved for malt vinegar or mustard, and was a bit watery but the French Toast was delicious. It was light, fluffy, and very eggy. Was it the best I have eaten? No, but it was very good. Joe's is a great place for a quick bite at a great price point.

She let me try a fork full and I gotta say, it was the most horrible mash potatoes ever. It tasted chemically, like full of preservatves flavor. To me it tasted like how nursing homes have that smell. Very disappointed. Everything else was fine however, much to our chagrin, we were disappointed to learn that they do not serve coleslaw with fish and chips. Every other restaurant serves coleslaw slaw with fish and chips. We always had great meals in Crabby Joe's Stratford in the past but we felt a little put down this time.

No frills breakfast joint in downtown Stratford, good for solid plates of eggs and potatoes and…read moregenerous portions. I went with the Paulet Bunyan plate which came with two eggs, two sausages, two pieces of bacon, home fries, and a pancake. It also comes with toast but I skipped that since I had plenty otherwise. Everything was solid though the potatoes in particular were really good and my cousin kept stealing them off my plate! I also liked the sausage. My cousin went with a full plate of pancakes and I had the one pancake with my meal, and while they were good I felt they were both a little underdone. They didn't really have any color on them. Though the dusting of cinnamon along with the sugar was a nice touch. I would have also liked the option to go for real maple syrup (vs the individual Smuckers containers that they had) and would have gladly done an upcharge for that. Staff was really nice, though, and it's huge so there's plenty of seating during peak tourist season. Very kid friendly, too!

The prices are really reasonable for the quality and service here! We went here several times…read moreduring our visit. We didn't stay at the hotel, but got a nice tour of it and liked how many nooks there are to read or play games in, how different rooms/floors are Shakespeare-themed, etc. It seemed very well thought out - not just another basic hotel chain. Steel Cut Porridge: If you love dessert for breakfast, this is excellent. The banana is caramelized (flambeed?) and the oats are perfectly cooked and sweetened with the birch syrup. I got this twice and it's just the right amount. Avocado Parfait: This was weird, but edible and very filling. I wouldn't get it again - the avocado was a weird choice. Like a sweet guacamole? Pain au Chocolat: Fresh and warm, a little soft (I like them a little more crispy on the outside and soft inside). Decent amount of quality chocolate inside. Crispy Smoked Bacon: Okay this one was maybe not as well priced as you only get three pieces of bacon, but it was tasty and I didn't have any regrets. Thin cut, wide, fatty slices. Maple Breakfast Sausage: No complaints, nothing too special, so it was a little pricey at three sausages. Better of course dipped in maple syrup! Bruce Blend Tea: This was quality black tea, but also just okay for me personally. I appreciate that they tell you how long the tea should be steeped and give you a timer for it. Apricot Tea: I liked this a lot on its own, but I liked it even more with some maple syrup, which made it taste like peach rings. Lychee Tea: This was nice and also I liked it better with a little maple syrup. Fabulous service. On weekends you get hot towels, which I thought was kind of funny. There is a path just outside that leads to the Stratford Festival Theatre, which is nice. I don't know that I could afford to stay at the hotel, but I would definitely come back to the restaurant.
