My friend and I decided to have a nice dinner at Delmar last night and it was an excellent choice!…read more:) The restaurant closes at 8pm and we arrived at 7:30pm, but no one rushed us and the food came out really quick! My friend got one of their sandwiches and I got the fish and chips. The fish was lightly battered, with just the right amount of crispiness! The fish also had a ... "fish" tasty to it :P Which some people hate, but I'm fine with because it is fish after all, it'd be awkward if it tasted like mushrooms or something :P The fries were also amazing, and I love how they include a free salad for the fish and chips! Also, both the fish and fries were not greasy which was a big and wonderful surprise, because after a big meal like that, I didn't even feel guilty! :) Delmar is quite large, and it is very clean and tidy. It opened in the 1950s and although it has a nice 50s vibe, it doesn't feel "old". The one and only reason why I gave this restaurant 4 stars instead of 5 is because of their menu. They offer all-day-breakfast which is nice, and a regular lunch/dinner menu. Their menu is not "small" but limited. For example, they offer 10+ types of sandwiches, but no hot dogs. They offer 7-8 types of omelettes but no skillets. They offer lots of varieties for 1 item, but they're not diverse when it comes to other classic diner and breakfast foods. They also have a small dessert and beverage menu. Overall though, I enjoyed my visit very much and my friend even gives this place a 5/5! So check out Delmar if you're driving by :)

She let me try a fork full and I gotta say, it was the most horrible mash potatoes ever. It tasted chemically, like full of preservatves flavor. To me it tasted like how nursing homes have that smell. Very disappointed. Everything else was fine however, much to our chagrin, we were disappointed to learn that they do not serve coleslaw with fish and chips. Every other restaurant serves coleslaw slaw with fish and chips. We always had great meals in Crabby Joe's Stratford in the past but we felt a little put down this time.

Open for breakfast and lunch this is a popular place with no table left empty for more than a couple minutes. The waitresses are fast and all business. This isn't a place to strike up a conversation. The food is very good with extremely affordable prices. The maple syrup was served in a squeeze bottle that I typically see reserved for malt vinegar or mustard, and was a bit watery but the French Toast was delicious. It was light, fluffy, and very eggy. Was it the best I have eaten? No, but it was very good. Joe's is a great place for a quick bite at a great price point.

I asked for some time with the menu, the staff member went away and came back almost 20 minutes later. Aside from being served by the person who hates their job, the restaurant itself was very dinner-ish. Had a family run feel to it. And I love supporting local business. The food itself was perfectly cooked the way we asked for it, and we both enjoyed our meals. The potatoes weren't anything special, and the salmon did look a little weird... but the portion was good for two. I took the fruit home cause I wasn't able to finish my meal.

I went with the Paulet Bunyan plate which came with two eggs, two sausages, two pieces of bacon, home fries, and a pancake. It also comes with toast but I skipped that since I had plenty otherwise. Everything was solid though the potatoes in particular were really good and my cousin kept stealing them off my plate! I also liked the sausage. My cousin went with a full plate of pancakes and I had the one pancake with my meal, and while they were good I felt they were both a little underdone. They didn't really have any color on them. Though the dusting of cinnamon along with the sugar was a nice touch. I would have also liked the option to go for real maple syrup (vs the individual Smuckers containers that they had) and would have gladly done an upcharge for that. Staff was really nice, though, and it's huge so there's plenty of seating during peak tourist season. Very kid friendly, too!

I was driving back home from a weekend in London. I was hungry and stopped in Cambridge at this…read morediner. It was a warm day. Flies were around me at the booth. When I walked into the restaurant, I got some uncomfortable stares. I can only guess that tall Chinese women don't frequent this location much. If I were in Markham, I don't think that I would get such rude stares. I ordered the Ronaldo hamburger, which had two monstrous beef patties. It came with fries. I also ordered a side of gravy. The burger was okay, but the patties were highly salty. It was a large burger. Towards the end, I left the bun and ate everything else. The fries were not yummy. The gravy came late. I had to remind my server that I had ordered it. The gravy was also salty. The staff there are nice. I had a good conversation about Markham. if I am ever back here, I will try other items on the menu. I am hoping that the sodium count is reduced. I actually drove home thirsty and had to stop to drink some water. (233)

I have an indifferent opinion to Peter M.'s review, this is a very independent hole in the wall…read morediner, offering one lady servicing all the tables in the restaurant. (Peter M you're a great person- I just don't agree with you =) ) To be very frank many breakfast places are overrun by chain restaurants and Toasters is one of the few locations that are non-franchised with pretty affordable options. For $6 you can get two eggs, toast (rye, brown or white with jam and butter) and homemade hash. Add $1.50 and you have meat added on the breakfast. Let me just remind you this is pandemic rates! And looking at Peter M.'S review on price from 6 years ago- it hasn't moved to much! Even when egg princes have moved from $2/dozen to $4-5/dozen. I stopped in for a meeting and often passed this place but never visited. It's situated at the end of Eagle, just after it changes from Pinebush. The humble diner is situated next to gas station. The parking lot is beaten with faded paint lines and a old fashion sign tells you it's a diner. When you enter, you walk right into the middle of the restaurant where the one server can see you and seat you immediately. What's nice is that the place has about a dozen of tables, a little snug for trollers and walkers but workable. It's just one server for ALL the tables and she was scurrying through. When I arrived 3min late for my meeting, I could see my client waving me in the window- I did not need to go through a whole pack of "security guard " waitresses to get to my table- it's a townie type of vibe. The interior is dated with tables that are functional. You can see the paint slapped on the edge of the black paint, likely to cover the cute messages teenagers left over the years. The chairs are old fashion but not restrictive to your size- you could be plus size and still get your bum into the seats. The portion for two eggs, toast, hash and three pieces of sausage for $7.50 was the same size as the $12 grand slam at Denny's. So it's gigantic. So if you're a little eater, $6 is plenty. What I like is if you ask for something to take away, the server is immediate to substitute it to not rob you of an item. During my dine- I was asked asked how my meal was while coffee was topped off for the other people at the table, and it was a quick hurry in and out as the server navigated around the strollers from the next table, the cute boyfriend and girlfriend and the young at heart friends sitting nearby. I arrived at 9am, bill was paid at 10am, we still meeting chatted right until 10:30am. I'm pretty sure if you had 30min it was possible to be in and out. Truly a hidden gem and for anyone who wants some small time vibe I will definitely return. I used to be a regular at the Fifties but somehow they seem to be some busy, loud and hiked their prices. This place is quant and I can get a nice meeting in, chat about life and the big plans to make it through 2023. Check this place out if you want small time vibes and more. It echos a lovely breakfast place in st. Jacobs but with better prices and fantastic service.
