We stopped there 15 minutes before its close time to grab a slice of pie, and it was everything I had hoped for. The staff were welcoming, quick, and oh-so friendly. The pie was clearly home made and came with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was so delicious I wish we had gotten two slices. A blast from the past I hope will survive a few more years.

What was surprising was that they did not have a veggie option. Almost all food places these days have at least some soft of vegan or meat substitute protein available in their menu. My companion, who is a vegetarian, had to settle for a footlong sandwich without a sausage (or veggie sausage) and just compensated with it having a lot of the garnishes stuffed in. The last thing I want to mention is that when placing my order, I went with the $10 mixed burger & footlong as well as a peanut butter and chocolate sundae for dessert. I'm not sure if everyone knows this, but Joe's diner on Erie Street does catering for events, and WOW, My husband, Tony, was looking for a reasonably priced caterer to make sandwiches and salads and stuff for a party for me with about 30 people. He called all over town and was at a loss as to what to order and how much. Someone suggested Joe's diner. He called them. They helped him choose exactly what he needed and were very professional. They took all the worry for the party away from him and the food was delicious. Home cooked roast beef on pretzel buns and homemade turkey in the wraps and in the macaroni salad, among other delicious food. The two or three previous times he's made arrangements have resulted in lots of stress, and the kids and I going crazy to finish getting things ready.
