I needed to remove an HDD password from a Lenovo laptop which my ex-neighbor gave me years ago. He doesn't remember the password because it's an old laptop but it wasn't worth chucking away because it seems like a usable computer. Keating said the Hard Disk Drive password is encrypted and he could get rid of it and do a clean installation of Windows 10. What I like about his workmanship is if there's an issue he'll immediately text message me. On September 25, he texted me the PC wasn't responding to a Windows Update and he would try one last fix to make it run more reliably. Now, this old laptop is working in tip-top shape. I will start by summarizing that Dan is everything that all the positive reviews say his is. I heartily recommend his computer consulting and repair services. I have two very positive experiences with Dan. Two years ago, my PC's hard drive failed and the system partition was corrupted. Dan was able to retrieve all my programs and data, and put them on a new HD. He also installed a second HD and set up a regular backup for me. The cost was very reasonable. Last week, I discovered my system clock was running very slow and my backup S: drive was full. I called Dan and he walked me through on the phone to free up space on the S: drive. He thought that the slow clock was due to the battery running low and asked if I wanted to replace the battery myself. I knew better (my computer skills are far behind me), and took my PC to him. Sure enough, he replaced my battery but also changed the BIOS bootup configuration to restore my PC to full health. Cost was again very reasonable. I spilled coffee on my laptop keyboard and my keys became sticky. I tried to fix some of the keys myself but I broke some of the latches so wanted to replace the whole keyboard. I called several places and they were way over charging me compare to Dan's prices. He ordered a replacement keyboard for me and only charged me $60 (parts and labor) Others were charging me $200+. Dan was super professional, knowledgeable and friendly. After he fixed my keyboard he made sure it worked before I left. A few days later I realized the keyboard he purchased want the exact same. No big deal but it was bothering me so I decided to buy another keyboard and when I asked him how much he would charge he generously offered to replace it for free. A+ experience! Call ahead- Dan works out of his apartment but no worries. He is professional and leaves the door facing the courtyard open so as a young lady I felt comfortable. We came by to get my cousin's computer looked at before she left the country the next morning. In her travels the screen had shorted, became discolored, and began to flicker. We knew it was short notice but Dan was confident he knew the problem and could get it fixed for $80 that day. Sure enough, we got a call that evening and came by to pick it up. My power supply fan broke and need replacing. Every where I called tried to rip me off at prices over 80$ not including parts. Dan saved the day once again! My poor old Acer decided to go out with a bang. Well, more of a meltdown, actually. The GF woke up 2:30 a.m. to a nasty, strange smell and opened the bedroom windows. Turns out, a memory card slot in the front of the PC caused a nice little fire inside the PC, melting components on the motherboard. I sent a frantic text to Dan, who asked that I bring it by the next day. He got a whiff of the PC, which was still exuding the nasty odor, and told me it was ozone. He took one look inside the PC and said, "That is not good." The hard drive was undamaged, whew, and he told me that he would remove it and put it into a case with a USB cable that I could hook up to the new PC to transfer files. But he also gave excellent advice on making a PC purchase. I was going to the nearest big box electronics store and spend enough money to get a good quality PC. Dan suggested that I check out Overstock's selection. I hadn't even thought of that. He also suggested looking at a refurbished business-class computer. I was apprehensive at first, but after Dan told me more about the nature of business-class machines, I pulled the trigger. I wound up purchasing an HP Z600 with basically twice the computing power and performance of a regular home-based PC for the same cost. It's been about two months, and I am a happy camper. read more

I called Dan because my HP pavilion powered itself off one day with no warning and would not reboot no matter what I did. He gave me advice over the phone on how to HARD reset it, which fixed the problem for me. Dan is a very honest person, which I hadn't experienced before when dealing with my laptop. I bought my laptop from Frye's, I bought the warranty also. This was a terrible decision I realize and I wish I knew Dan then... With my recent problem I got to take it to Dan though. He gets busy, so it took a little longer for him to get to it. He was able to fix my problem in an affordable way and used his judgement to recommend the best alternative. Dan has the best prices around,hands down.There is just no competition with pricing.He does not charge a diagnostic fee,on top of $85+ an hour for labor,not including the cost of the parts. Pros beyond cost. Dan is VERY knowledgeable.He really knows his stuff.He is excellent. Dan's given me free advice over the phone,that 2 companies tried to charge me for. The 2 places I called both said I needed to bring my computer in,and they would have to perform a diagnostic test.This was by no means a crisis.I am not trying to be cheap,but I couldn't understand why anyone would need to run a diagnostic test,based on nature of the problem. I don't know why I did not think to call Dan first. Dan told me over the phone,what he suspected the problem was,.... and he was absolutely correct.The problem was fixed for under $10.JaJa. Fixed by a compressed air spray cleaner in a can. I make sure to keep those dust cleaners around the house now.JaJa Over a year later,no issues. Yeah,some companies wanted me to bring the computer in, and charge me to diagnose the problem.A problem resolved by an air spray can.JaJa That is how well Dan treats his customer's. Dan actually remembered that we have a cat and a dog.I never thought to mention that. It was that simple.It's one of those things that I thought I should have known. Yup Dan is as good as the reviews make him out to be. My 4 year old Dell XPS 630 had been circling the drain for a while; combination of neglect, window's vista, old hardware, and some trips to darker corners of the internet. It finally gave up the ghost after a protracted illness and became inoperable...along with a lot of data, some valuable and some not so much. Or so I thought. I fooled around with trying to play techie guy and only succeeded in wasting most of a morning. So I looked up and found Dan. I called him up and he responded right away. Walked the computer over to him. 4-5 days later he called me up to say that he had it up and running again. He was also able to restore much of what I had assumed was lost data!
