Everything about Kealoha's kitchen is top notch! They know how to do local Hawaiian / Filipino food and they know how to do it well! Their service is impeccable and shows the true Aloha spirit. Definitely reminds me of home. The staff is so welcoming and inviting and makes you feel like you're a part of the family. Unfortunately, our family dug in before I could get pictures of the food untouched, but everything was so good that we just couldn't wait! The pictures don't do it justice at all. The atmosphere is amazing with the vintage style of the 1800's with a touch of Hawaiian flare. Everything about this place is so welcoming and such a wonderful place. Their location is in such a cute area in Germantown and in prime location on the corner. Our family had the Chicken Katsu Curry, Kimchee Fried Rice, Mochiko Chicken, Potato Mac Salad, Papaya Salad, and Custard Pie for dessert. We loved every bit of it, even my extremely picky kids (age 6 and 8). I'm normally not a fan of Hawaiian Mac salad or Custard Pie, but there is something special about they way that Kealoha's Kitchen make theirs. The Mochiko Chicken was so flavorful and so moist in every bite. The Katsu Curry was equally as amazing and moist (and Katsu can definitely get dry). The Kimchee Fried Rice was cooked to perfection and some of the best I've ever had. The Papaya salad was delicious, extremely flavorful and crunchy with a nice dressing. Authentic Hawaiian cuisine is hard to find especially here in the greater Cincinnati area. But in Covington, Ky Kealoha's Kitchen is making a huge name for itself. When you walk in it's as if you're transported to a Hawaiian luau complete with entertainment and a photo wall. The food was amazing as expected and came out very quickly. The restaurant is family owned and they endeavor to make you feel apart of the clan. The staff were talkative and answered food questions and gave us many great suggestions. Tips to make your visit a success: 1) Try something interesting. The menu will definitely introduce you to some new things and also some new flavors. When in doubt ask your server for their recommendation. We were unsure of the Potato-Mac salad but we were glad we listened to the server's suggestions. It was awesome. 2) Hawaiian Sun. Located at the bottom of the menu after soda products are Hawaiian Sun and their flavors that vary daily. We walked in and sat at the bar. We were looked at like we didn't belong. We came in because we loved Hawaii and heard the business was hurting and wanted to help, and we LOVE authentic Hawaiian food. We sat at the bar and were eventually greeted and given a menu. When we ordered a drink and appetizers we were told it would be "awhile as there was a list in front of us". We waited 10 minutes, still didn't receive a drink a left. This review has been a long time in the making - as this small, family-run business has quickly become our favorite local restaurant in just a few short months! Funnily enough, I first heard about Kealoha's Kitchen after a visit to The Hilltop bar in Mt. Adams. One of the bartenders there told me that her family owns this little Latonia gem, and she works at both businesses here and there each week. My husband and I had recently discovered how delicious authentic Hawaiian food can be, but hadn't yet found a spot locally for us to explore more of this cuisine. Over the course of several visits here, we've found that you can't go wrong with anything on their menu! Our favorite bites, however, are the Kalua Pig paired with rice and their show-stopping Potato-Mac Salad ... followed closely by their Spicy Spam Musubi. Even if you don't think you like spam, I recommend ordering this Hawaiian staple, and asking the owners why this is the original "Surfer Food." Definitely keep an eye on Kealoha's Instagram as well, as they sometimes have special offerings like Chicken Katsu Curry or Mochiko Chicken. The owners, Val and Amy, are some of the most welcoming people we've ever met. Anyone who visits is greeted like they're family, and regulars are honored with photos on the "Ohana" wall. Kealoha's Kitchen is carryout only, and while you can just drop in and order in-person, they also accept orders over the phone or through third party services like DoorDash. Feel free to take your food to-go, or stick around and grab a drink at the bar next door. Get the combo with some rice, lumpia and potato-mac salad and you're set. Their teriyaki chicken was cooked just right and had great flavors. Don't forget to try their the loco moco and kalbi ribs. Excellent service, delicious food, and kid friendly! We went on a Friday night around 5:30 and were able to get two tables pushed together for a party of 8, which included 4 kids. The staff were super helpful and informed us of the special which was a fried shrimp. The drinks were good, the pina colada was a bit better than the pineapple margarita. Several of us had the fried shrimp and thought it was very good. There are several options for the kids including fried chicken and the owner gave my little one more fries when he over heard her asking for her brother to share. The only reason they are getting a 3 stars is because for 4 days straight that I've been calling at 5pm, 6pm and today at 7pm, they have ran out of short ribs. My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday. We were in town to celebrate his birthday. We got the spam, lumpia, spare ribs, sliders, and tomato cucumber salad. Everything was really good. The lumpia tasted fresh and crispy. We got the regular spam musubi (sp?). I'd be interested in trying the spicy or teriyaki. The sliders were really moist and flavorful. Tried out this place for dinner as one of our monthly new restaurants goal. It's a cute, small walk up window inside a store front. We both ordered bento boxes. Mine with rice and the teriyaki chicken and my husband with rice and the pineapple teriyaki short ribs. We also added an order of lumpias. We headed next door to a bar to wait. After a few mins, the nice man that took our order let us know it was still going to be 10 mins and apologized. There was no need as we were enjoying a drink! When he brought us our orders, they had added an extra lumpia and brought us a piece of cake due to taking so long. Honestly, we didn't think it was too long at all but was so kind of them. The food was delicious. The meats were tender and flavorful. The lumpias and sauce were so good that I was thankful we had 4 so each of us could have more than one!
