We scheduled KCD close to two weeks out, needing work to be completed by a very specific date. The work was to be done and concluded two days before we absolutely had to have it in place. Two hours before their start time, they cancelled due to rain. Mind you, as best I can tell was not raining inside our garage where the work needed to be done. Also, this rain was also not a mystery event that could not have been foreseen. It had been in the forecast for many days in advance (have I mentioned that it also does not rain inside our home?). So I'm not sure why they waited until 11:39 AM to cancel a job that was commencing at 1:30 PM. They offered to return on a day that was also forecast for rain, but maybe that was less aggressive rain? This naturally on the day we already needed to have the work done and in place, so even if they had magically figured out how to work indoors in the rain, we were quite hosed. We had initially chosen them not because they were the cheapest, but specifically because of their availability and ease of schedule. Mark from KCD cane to my house to install a 220v 50 amp 14-50r EV outlet receptacle and was really courteous, professional and fast. Everything works great, and he even repaired an ac wire on the breaker that was frayed while the panel was open. The owner quoted me for the job with just pictures of the site accurately, and the scheduler Dylan was very responsive via text. The price was also lower than two other quotes I got. Would defintely recommend this company again and will likely use them again for other projects in the future. Very disappointing experience with KCD Electric in August 2024. 7/31/24 * Found on Yelp. * Called owner (Rick) for a quote to install a Tesla Wall Connector and mentioned a ceiling light flickers once when the air conditioning starts. Rick quoted $350 for an interior install or $400 for an exterior install, explaining the exterior costs more due to a "box" they put around it. He also mentioned the light flicker issue likely means a new breaker is needed at approximately $200. I agreed to proceed as another electrician quoted me $690 for the same work, meaning this would be about $90 cheaper depending on the exact cost of the breaker replacement. 8/2/24 * The rep arrived for the install. I asked if I should get an interior or exterior install. He said he was only prepared for an exterior install and that an interior install would cost more than $400. I explained I was quoted $350 for interior and $400 for exterior because of the box. He said there was a misunderstanding and the owner must have thought I wanted something else done. I asked about the main breaker replacement, and he said he was unaware but would check it out. * After installing the Tesla Wall Connector (without a safety box), he checked the breaker issue. He replaced the AC breaker and a burnt wire for $28. This worsened the problem, causing the ceiling light to flicker constantly and a bedroom light to start flickering. I immediately notified the rep, who explained that the AC unit was now getting its full power, taking power away from elsewhere. * I called Rick, who explained the house likely needed a new main breaker, as we previously planned. He quoted $95 labor plus $169 for the breaker. I agreed, and we scheduled the main breaker install. 8/6/24 * Two days later, the main breaker was installed. Not only did it not fix the issue, but I was charged $400 instead of the expected $264. When I questioned Rick about the difference, he said the part was more than expected and that I misheard him about the labor, stating it was $195, not $95. In conclusion: * I believe KCD Electric forgot to install a safety box around my Tesla Wall Connector but charged me $50 for it anyways. * I believe I was quoted one price and charged a different price for electrical work that turned a minor nuisance into a legitimate problem (quoted $264 but charged $400). * I was never warned that the Tesla Wall Connector install could cause other issues. read more

KCD was hired to install a Tesla charger. We wanted them to take a look at our breaker and see if it was a possibility based on what we have. The electrician came said it was a possibility and it would be $340. We thought great! He installed it and we were happy, that is until the power started going out. The power went out 2 different times after the 3rd, the power went out on half the house and it wouldn't come back on. We called KCD and let them know what was going on. He said he wasn't able to get anyone to our home until the next week. We told him that was unacceptable since we didn't have power in half the house. He immediately jumped to blaming us for why the power went out. A 60amp was installed for the car and we had been charging it at 48. After the first time the power went out, we lowered the charging amps even more. We told him he needed to fix the repairs said the soonest he can get someone to the house was in 2 days. We agreed. About an hour after the call, the power went out throughout the ENTIRE house not a single outlet worked. We called 2 different electricians from 2 different business who could get to the house that night. They both came and mentioned that the job was very poorly done. The 2 different electricians both mentioned that the job was very poorly done, the breaker should have at least been moved close to the main breaker, AND that the breaker used was known to overheat. The breaker KCD installed over heated, which then caused the breaker above it to go out, which then lead the main breaker to go out as well. Luckily 1 of the electricians that came had the part to completely repair the entire breaker, get our electrical back, and properly installed a breaker for the charger. Because of KCD poor job the $340 job ended up costing us $3k to repair. DO NOT HIRE! Also, we never cancelled the appointment for them to arrive. They never called and never came. read more

We had an issue when trying to upgrade light switches and it ended beyond my ability to resolve. Rick came out quickly and was able to diagnose a faulty outdoor plug that was causing the issue. He was thorough and professional and was able to track down the issue despite the rats nest of wires in the box. The outdoor plug powered both low voltage applications like spotlights but also the driveway lights. He installed a new GFCI outlet outside as well as two smart switches that controlled both a patio light and the rest of the outdoor lights.
