The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. The office is clean. Dr. Fu & Dr. Wilson are both amazing. I'm sure the rest of the dentists are awesome as well but I've only been to them. I have a phobia of dentists and getting shots. Dr Fu made sure I was not uncomfortable at all. I love my hygienist! My teeth are always sparkly and clean when I go! I highly recommend them. I drive very far for my appointments because I love them so much. 10/14/19 I don't think I have ever had a bad experience at this place. My son had his teeth worked on today. I have been coming to this dentist since 2013. I have high anxiety about coming to the dentist and so do my family members. Dr. Fu & Dr. Wilson both do amazing work. I began using KC Dental in 2008 when I moved to Austin. They might seem nice up front but they just want your money and will con you into whatever they can get out of your insurance. I received an unnecessary root canal in 2009 and was later told I'd needed another pretty badly. I was leery of the initial root canal so when I moved to Houston, I immediately got a second opinion from a friend of a colleague, Dr. Bhatta Gauttam, DDS, 6910 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX. He reported my teeth were in great condition - not only did the root canal they performed look shabby, it was likely not needed. It's been a decade and I still haven't needed that second one KC Dental told me I needed. (I also haven't had any fillings). If performing and charging for unneeded work isn't enough, just check out their office manager. She advised her staff to charge me a $50 cancellation fee. I'd spoken with the office and told them I would not be using their services going forward. She told her personnel to have me reschedule. I did not want to reschedule. I felt scammed and I really didn't trust them. I'd been conned and I wanted out. The calls intensified and the office staff began to call almost weekly, demanding I pay a $50 fee or to reschedule. I called and called to speak with the Office Manager but she refused to speak with me directly. The calls subsided so I figured we were good. After about a year in Houston, I was forwarded a collection letter for $82.00. KC Dental decided to send me to COLLECTIONS over the whole TRUST conundrum!! This shit really hit my credit - and all because I didn't trust the practice or want to return. The most painful thing about this establishment is not the shots needed for my $3000 root canal or the $82 collection letter, its the MOCKERY I experienced. When I called to inquire about the $82 collection letter along with my T-Mobile bill illustrating all of the times I had spoken with the office since my initial root canal, all I could hear was a chorus of laughter. It took me a moment to register, but the Office Manager had put me on speaker to brag to her staff that she'd sent me to collections. She'd wanted the whole crew to witness my woes. Look - Avoid this practice as they are clearly out for a dollar and not your well being. Not a positive place. Every time I go to my new dentist, Dr. Bhatta, in Houston, I'm reminded of how shitty KC Dental really is - hence the recent note. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Fu and her hygienist Cambria for a year now, and my experience has been nothing short of 5 star. As someone who has had a lifelong history of dental issues, I've had my share of dentists and hygienists and I can affirm that this practice is among the best I've been to. Appointments are easy to make, they accept most major insurance providers, they will always intimate you of a potential out of pocket payment and allow you to make the final decision. I go every 3 months for cleanings and I can finally smile with confidence. The location is slightly hard to find, just look for the Schlotzky's and follow the directions from there. They also have a visiting periodontist who visits if there is a medical need. read more

I went to this place in the year of 2021, I was treated politely. before the visit, I was with other dentist. this is the dentist my wife uses and she recommanded to me. after checking my teeth, the dentist gave me a treatment plan, after my insurance, I would shell out ~$1,000. I was not convince on the 'treatment' would do much good to me. Well, if you go to a dentist, they alway find out the imperfection on your teeth. Fast forwar, after one year time I called up and wanted to make a routine check up, I was appalled to hear that, since I did not follow up with their 'initial' treatment plan, they refuse to look at my teeth anymore. It is fine, I will find other dentist who is willing to do the 'routine' check up. I am posting here, just want other to know that this dentist has her own customer base, if she could not extract enough money from you, she will refuse to serve you. read more

Everyone is scared of Dentists myself as well. Had a mean one a long time ago with my lower gum line. Ever since I have bought the most expensive electric toothbrush and did everything to try and ensure that my teeth and gums were great. Well 14 yrs later I was eating dinner when suddenly I felt like something was stuck between my two upper front teeth i went to the bathroom to check in the mirror OMG............ One of my upper front teeth was chipped Ahhhhh Nooooooooo............. So My Hero Husband had to have some work on a lower crown. He said that he liked this place and they were nice. If my Husband likes them that means they should be good. So I went and was told that I had a cavity in the entire tooth and the other one had a cavity I'm thinking how are they going to get inside the other tooth that is not chipped. I was also scared of what they would say They are all super Nice an Cool :) I could not have wished for a better Dentist :) Now when I was in they put these shades on so you look cool and lol don't get blinded by the light. :) I kept my eyes closed :) I have the smallest mouth open ability so they used something i could bite on and keep my mouth open for them to work on me. Sometimes it hurt so they ask you to raise your arm up if it hurts and they will stop if needed they can put more numb gel and injection of numb gums :).. Drooling lol They also ask if you are doing ok from time to time if so for me i gave a thumbs up. :) they kinda laughed at first thinking i hurt then noticed that I was giving a thumbs up for im ok. Lol :) 2nd time i had 3 upper left and 2 upper right cavity again very Nice :) They told me even the best of brushing care you can still get cavity and not to feel bad it's common. We started to go to KC Dental 3 years ago when my daughter was 3. The environment is clean and kid-friendly. They have TV screens above the chairs and they provide cool sunglasses. Dr. Fu is professional and great with kids. She can also speak Chinese and that makes my daughter feel more comfortable. My daughter is always excited to choose a toy from the treasure box after the checkup. I am glad that KC Dental makes my daughter like to go to dentist. We don't have dental insurance so I ask how much they are going to charge every time before we go. The staff explains the charges clearly and patiently. They even give discounts if you are self-pay patients. I think they charge affordable price and I never have any problems with the charges. I have recommended a lot of friends to go to KC Dental and everyone loves KC Dental. read more

Dr Chen is incredibly fast, and efficient...but best of all, she's as close to 'pain free' as I've ever felt. I've been going here for over 12 years now and can say that I just love everyone here. I actually increased my visits to 4X a year. They are ALWAYS on time and have been flexible with me when I needed it. I feel like the most valued customer they have (but that's most likely not the case). The front desk folks are always awesome and my hygienist (Lisa) and dentist (Dr. Chen) rock. Who laughs at the dentist? Who feels like family at the dentist? ME! I DO! I saw there was a one star review recently and just have to say that there can't be any accuracy to that. I believe most of their patients are long time patients and you don't get that from being horrible or poor with timing. If you're looking for a new dentist, these are the folks to come to. Two out of my four children are terrified of the dentist and have had such a hard time over the years, even with simple cleanings. We have been to a couple other pediatric dentists and their fear had heightened every time. We have been seeing Dr. Fu for over a year now and feel she's the best out there. She is gentle and so kind. The hygienists are friendly, patient, and sensitive to hear my kids out as they explain what they're afraid of. Finding a dentist has been on my To-Do list for a long time. I hadn't been to the dentist in years--ever since graduating from my pediatric dentist--and wasn't in any great hurry to rectify that situation. KC Dental is right around the corner from my house, and it was recommended by several neighbors so I gave it a shot. So glad I did! I went in for a new patient exam and cleaning the end of June, and thankfully, my teeth were in relatively good shape. Well, minus the 5 cavities that took advantage of the deeply grooved molars I received courtesy of my parents. The staff was friendly and they correctly gauged the length of time I should set aside for the appointment. Cost seemed reasonable to me--it was cheaper than the appointment my Dad recently had at another practice. Nevertheless, the 5 cavities had to be addressed. And in two separate visits--one for each side. I had a few minor cavities as a child, but nothing that required oral numbing. Wasn't looking forward to that, but the first visit went so incredibly well!! It was really quite painless! In fact, the worst bit was the muscle pain I had the following days, from having my mouth held open for the procedure. The second procedure was a little more uncomfortable, but not intolerable. I am extremely satisfied with KC Dental, and would recommend them to anyone. Dr. Wilson was wonderful to work with. During the procedure, they encouraged me and made sure I was okay. At the first cavity appointment, I said that I wanted to see the tools he used to numb the area once he was finished injecting me. He willingly obliged my curiosity and explained briefly about the mechanics. At the second appointment, I was interested in another tool I saw them using, and he again made time to explain what it was and how it worked. I felt very informed about what was going on with my teeth, and appreciated his conservative approach. There was one spot that he felt he could simply buff out instead of filling, and there are two deeply grooved teeth we're going to keep an eye on and hopefully not have to fill for several more years. I'd give this place ten stars, if I could. I came here a nervous wreck. I hadn't seen a dentist in 24 yrs and I was terrified of the pain, the cost, and the possible judgement I'd receive. I got NONE of those things. I've only had a deep cleaning, so far, but to my surprise it was painless (and I had 6 shots just for the first half of the cleaning). The cost is totally doable (I do have insurance, but it doesn't cover everything.) And these people couldn't be more welcoming and comforting. ZERO JUDGEMENT. Nothing but happy, helpful, lovely people in this office. Every single positive review here for KC Dental is 100% accurate. I experienced the same genuine respect, as well as thorough work, with every question answered to complete satisfaction, as these other reviewers. I feel as if I have very little to say that hasn't already been expressed in previous reviews. I cannot recommend this office enough. This is the most anxiety free environment one can possibly have dental work done. If you are a scaredy-cat, like me, and have put off having your teeth looked at for any reason, then this is your place. Short version: While the work quality isn't bad, the constant mistrust and the fact that they only treat you as a bag of money is extremely off putting. Most people I dealt with there are pushy and try to get as much money from you as possible by suggesting questionably required procedures. The only plus is that they have a couple good doctors (Dr. Fu and Dr. Wilson). Long version: I have tried three dentists since I moved to Austin, and KC Dental is by far the worst experience I have had. For the past couple years Lisa has been my hygienist. She is extremely mistrusting and will question everything you tell her. I had bad staining on my teeth and she kept asking "do you drink coffee?" "no, I don't" "well, you have staining and it's caused by coffee" "it has to be something else because I don't drink coffee" "no, it's coffee". To her credit, she did eventually suggest that it could be my mouthwash and it turned out to be correct (Crest Pro Health mouthwashes cause a reaction on a small percentage of users), but the experience was annoying and the constant mistrust grows old very quickly. The mistrust also goes both ways. After my first visit they recommended deep cleanings in order to avoid periodontal disease. These cleanings (which are expensive and not completely covered by insurance) had to be done every four months. After a year or so instead of Dr. Chen, I got lucky and got Dr. Fu, who after looking at my mouth asked me why I was doing the deep cleanings if I didn't need them. When Lisa came back and asked to set up the next appointment she immediately set it up for four months and for a deep cleaning, without even asking. After I complained and told her that Dr. Fu didn't think I should be getting the deep cleanings she eventually relented and scheduled a normal cleaning. On Dr. Fu's recommendation I got brackets, and after my latest visit Lisa recommended getting cleanings every three months because of this -- "they will be covered by insurance so it should be fine". This was one more time when I felt they were just trying to get more money from me so I decided to get a second opinion. My new dentist actually called me before my appointment (three months after the previous one, since I wanted to be sure that I didn't really need the cleanings every three months) and said that insurance wouldn't pay for it because I am on a plan that only pays for one cleaning every six months (which means I would have had to pay for the appointment entirely out of pocket). I recently got a postcard on the mail from KC Dental to make an appointment because I'm overdue (and it's been three months since the last one!) Additionally, the administrative staff in KC Dental can never figure out what to charge for services, probably because they do not look at the insurance paperwork before the appointment. This means that every time that you are done they tell you you don't owe anything only to send a bill later, that can only be paid by phone. While this is only a minor inconvenience I think it illustrates how many of the staff don't really care about what is convenient for you, but only want to get your money. read more

I should have written this review a long time ago! I have been going to KC Dental for several years and have had several different procedures here. This is my favorite dental group I have ever been to, by far! The office staff is so courteous and friendly and will go out of their way to help. They create quotes and treatment plans that are affordable and they are wonderful at explaining what insurance will cover and when. I have seen all of their hygienists and enjoy each of them! They are always helpful with answering my questions or recommending a product for my "soft" teeth. They are also very lighthearted and keep me smiling and engaged during the procedure. It really feels like they care about their patients and enjoy their work. For bigger dental issues I have been seeing Dr. Court Wilson who is a master in his field! I have had root canals, fillings, crowns and a bridge (phew!!) and they have always been a positive experience. Dr. Wilson and his counterpart Dion are a joy to work with - and I'm not the biggest fan of dentists. They are always on time and finish the procedures when they are supposed to (or early!). They have wonderful bedside (chairside?) manner and provide top notch personal care. The teeth Dr. Wilson has worked on all look great and have never cause me any trouble. Additionally they have a good protocol for administering injections, the least painful I've had. :) I recommend KC Dental to everyone I know. I visited Dr. Gupta at KC Dental recently and had a wonderful experience. The entire staff at KC Dental including Dr. Gupta are great. My teeth weren't in the best shape but Dr. Gupta did a great job at getting me fixed up and at a reasonable price too. One of my biggest fears with a dentist is them suggesting unneeded work. This office uses cameras and x-rays to point out the problem areas so you can have a better understanding of what's going on and what needs to be done. I never once felt like an excessive amount of dental work was being pushed on me. Great place to go for great care. read more

She, however, makes the appointments not only bearable, but pleasurable (as much as possible at least) with her bright smile, superb professionalism, and positive conversation. moved to Austin a year and a half ago. waited way too long to find a dentist, but I am ecstatic I found this place. first visit was a check up, second was for a filling. called right back both times, entire office staff is friendly, they are tech savvy and have the latest gadgets, and they always make sure I am comfortable and know why they are doing what they are doing. today was my filling, and I was feeling nervous as I walked in. the hygienist that walked me back reassured me, and Dr. Chen was AMAZING. they had Property Brothers playing for me while I waited to get numb, and Dr. Chen consistently made sure I was okay during the procedure. I was worried about the filling because it was close to my gums, but you can't even tell I got a filling there and there is no damage to my gum area. I have visited KC Dental for 5 years already. The clinic is very clean and all the staffs are so friendly. The doctors I have known in this clinic are very professional and nice. Especially people who like me don't like to go to a dental office because the bad experience with other dental offices before and also dental check is always very expensive, I usually avoided to have a dental check as long as I can. However, since I have visited KC Dental, the doctors always explain to me about my teeth and the question I have very patientiontly before the treatment. Their professional skills make me feel comfortable and trustable to lying there. I always worry the statement I will receive will be ridiculously expensive but their staff will always explain to me how much I will need to pay and they even give me a discount and try to explain my statement and insurance question. I went to KC dental because they took my new insurance and my previouse DDS didnt. I saw Dr Fu who would'nt let me get a cleaning at my first visit and told me I needed five crowns to replace some fillings. She was not friendly to me and was giggling in the hall way with the other workers. The receptionist was then VERY rude to me and would not answer my questions. I decided to go back to my previouse DDS and got a cleaning and was told that I didnt need any crowns. I won't be going to Dr FU again. read more

The front receptionist was on her cell phone facebooking. The Dr. I met was Dr. Fu, she did not introduce herself, she did not ask me about my mouth, she did not seem to care at all about me as a person.
