    K-Bop Korean Kitchen in Mandarin
    Jeremiah S.

Stopped in for a lunch date with the wife, it was a good choice. My wife couldn't decide what to get, so I ordered for myself, which turned out to be the right call because the portions are HUGE. One bowl fed both of us and we had leftovers. I ordered the Spicy Korean Fried Chicken Bop Bowl. It came with a side soup (I think it's clear soup), the bowl had rice, noodles, veggies, and one mandu. The chicken was excellent: crispy, flavorful, and not overly salty. The "spicy" label is mild. In all, delicious. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. Staff were kind, patient, and genuinely welcoming. A few bonuses worth mentioning: Kids eat free on Tuesdays Military discount available Light Beer and wine selection Scratch-off cards that can win you free items on your next visit Outdoor seating We'll definitely be back with the kids. Great food, great service, great value.

The food was amazing. Took a while to get but it was busy in a weekend night so no real complaint there. We loved the Asian influence for decor.

I was surprised with how much I liked the Korean dog covered in hot Cheeto dust. It was my favorite dog by far. However, don't expect the meat to be underneath every bite. It's tasty, but not filling.

I love the unique addition to Mandarin and it may become a local favorite. Their corn dog was a must try! It was both crispy, sweet, salty, and delicious! We also got the chicken BOP and it was very filling and tasty. The serving sizes are very large and I recommend sharing with someone. The Kimbap was well made and something new to my palate. As a bonus, you get a drink half off with a BOP bowl purchase. The staff were very helpful explaining the items, but I was very disappointed they didn't have a paper menu so I could see what was in each food choice. There were just pictures up on the wall and I can't hear well so I had no idea what the staff member said. Somehow the food still turned out amazing! The prices are a bit high, but they spend a lot of time perfecting the food. I hope to go back soon, but I'll have to split the bowl since they're so big.

Sooooo good! We came in hungry and left stuffed! I'm so happy this location opened up near me. Walking in you order at the counter, then find a seat and they bring you your food, fast casual I like that. Started with Boba, it was ok I still prefer to get Boba from an actual Boba shop. Now to the food, no complaints at all, everything was very tasty! I love the bowls come with so much variety in it! Your choice of protein, rice, noodles ( so yummy!) Veggies, and a dumpling! The chicken teriyaki was delicious chicken nicely grilled, I loved it! The corn dogs are an experience, half cheese half hotdog, the potato one came rolled in sugar?! So good! Even the kids meal was good, nice crispy chicken not over cooked! Can't wait to come back!

We were close by and saw the reviews. The first impression walking in was the staff looked stressed out and especially one member had a didn't want to be there look. It wasn't that busy for a Saturday afternoon. Took our order at the counter, he did ask if you are police or military for a 10% discount. We both ordered drinks at the fountain machine and both drinks were flat. I mentioned it to the one female staff member and she said thank you and didn't tell anyone. I tried another drink and it was also flat so I waited at the counter to get the other staff member to dump our drinks and get some sweet tea instead due to the flat drinks. He then immediately told someone in the back to work on it. After a few minutes they serve a complimentary soup which was a nice bonus. The order took probably 25 minutes to come out but the beef Bibbibop was very fresh. It was outstanding, ate every bite.

I really had higher hopes for this place. We made the mistake of craving sushi on a Monday when the good places nearby are both closed. And I was hoping to try a Korean dish without shelling out a fortune for an all-you-can-eat nightmare. So we gave them a try. I was actually excited to see what they tried to do here with fast-food Korean. But the execution... Really not for me. The Dynamite Roll was fair. Kind of luke warm when my son got it, like it had been prepared ahead of time and kept in a warmer. Maybe a 3 out of 5. But then the bulgogi bowl took sooo long to show up, my son was completely done with his lunch before mine even arrived. The sauce on the beef was OK, but the rest of the bowl was rice and plain bland glass noodles, and not much flavor at all. I think it was supposed to be japchae, but it really was only noodles and no sauce or vegetables. A bit of shredded cabbage and carrot. And finally one tiny mandu with nothing to dip it in. The bowl was so dry you really had to work to choke it down. Most places will serve a bowl like this with some ssamjang sauce, or bibimbop sauce, or even just some extra bulgogi sauce to vigorously stir in and add some flavor. After digging around, we found some take-out soy sauce packs on one of the counters, but that is really not what the dish needed. Maybe a 2 out of 5. The beef itself kept it from being a 1 out of 5. The only other good thing you could say about it was that it was more filling than the sushi roll. On the bright side, the place was clean. Well laid out. And I do like the concept. Plus the corn dog menu looked pretty fun. Korean food can be really fantastic, so hopefully, even a mediocre execution of a great thing will be good enough for the locals to keep them in business for a little while. I really despise the cafeteria style system of tipping when you order, before you even know what sort of service you're going to get. And this is an example where the default 15% was waaay too much for the service we got. It was a little after noon on a Monday and there was only one other party in the place. So they definitely weren't too busy to synchronize the order or check on customers. Really, the next time we want sushi, we'll just wait for the good restaurants to open up on Tuesday. They're real restaurants with full service, great rolls, and lunch specials that wouldn't cost much more than a single roll cost us here. Then for Korean food, it's not easy to find an equivalent around here. There's a great Korean restaurant 3 miles up the road, but it would have cost us double or even triple, with no lunch items. But probably worth every penny. Or I'm sure we'll eventually find a nice Korean BBQ joint nearby. But that bill would probably be four or five times as much. And way too much for an easy lunch. So, keep trying. Train your staff. Take a hard look at your menu. Put some more work into the sides and sauces. We need fast-food Korean, but it has to stay under $20 a person and it has to be a flavor BOMB.

So I treated myself today while visiting K-Bop for their soft opening. The delicious Korean fare is made fresh to order. Excellent customer service and staff is super friendly, helpful and professional. The dining area is spacious, comfortable and bright with great music playing thru their speakers. I'm totally spoiled now since they're conveniently located near my home! Hope to see y'all here sometime for lunch, dinner or to enjoy a refreshing tea and/or dessert. Support local businesses and enjoy your K-Bop Korean Kitchen dining experience!

We ordered a variety of items for pickup. Beef dumplings, kfc, bulgogi rolls and plain fries. It was ready at its scheduled pickup time. I walked right in and the kind staff assisted me and made sure everything was there. I assumed the KFC would be actual wings but the boneless pieces were still a good size. Altogether the food was definitely a solid 8/10. There are some things I'd like to go back and try! This location is definitely larger than your typical storefront. I can see it being a casually upbeat atmosphere at any given time of day.

Well I'm glad that K bop has opened a location on San Jose Blvd and I think my dish tasted better than their other location! We had the bulgogi Bop and the beef bibimbap, both very good, serving size is great and very savory flavors. I was surprised that the cashier didn't give me the right answer when I asked if there was anything spicy in the bibimbap because there was a big serving of kimchi in there but luckily I just gave it all to my friend LOL. We saw many boba drinks being served and they looked fantastic definitely have to try that next time... and I saw you can add Boba and Mandu to your entree as a combo for extra $6.95. But I was very happy with the self-serve Fountain drinks and everything tasted Super Fresh

Second time I've stopped in for lunch and I haven't been disappointed. The lunch specials take money off certain bowl options and on this trip I chose the teriyaki grilled chicken bowl. Was excellent. Great portions, glass noodles and a fried dumpling were a nice addition, and the complementary clear soup was very good. I don't come here enough but the food has been super solid on two go-arounds now. I highly recommend anyone looking for bowls and large portions with great value.

They're at 10586 Old St Augustine Road in Mandarin with a nice size parking lot so their location is great and parking isn't a concern. I'll get to the food in a minute but I'll start by saying that before we opened our fortune cookies at the end, I jokingly said "I hope one of these says 'you will get your original Facebook account back". They didn't say that but I included a photo of both because I feel like they're close enough As far as food goes, we split the Peony Sampler for an appetizer and loved it. It definitely did it's job as a sampler because now we know we like all of their appetizers and would order any of them on their own in the future. I ordered Egg Drop Soup after that because it's a favorite of mine. I always add a little salt to their version of it but I add salt to a lot of soups so that may just be a "me" thing. I had the Sweet & Sour Pork with Fried Rice for my entree, which is the same things had last time and it's still great. Between the appetizer and the soup and the entree, I was hoping to have enough to take home for lunch tomorrow and I definitely did. My wife had the General Chicken. She really liked the sauce because it was sweet but has a little bit of spicy kick to it. She said the same thing I said about the chicken itself; she loved that it was big pieces of juicy white meat. She was also surprised by how much she liked the broccoli which made for one of those things where you could get a bite of everything at once. She also had a lot to take home, so she's happy with that too. Thank you again to the person who posted about Peony in the group recently. We had a great lunch thanks to your reminder.

The aesthetics of the restaurant are beautiful--definitely the highlight of the visit. The space is well designed and visually appealing, which initially made me excited to dine there. However, the service and food quality did not match the atmosphere at all. Our waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu and couldn't answer basic questions about the items or broths. The food placed on the bar appeared frozen rather than fresh, which was concerning for a hot pot experience. I ordered the Tom Yum soup base, and it was honestly one of the worst I've had. The flavor was unpleasant, and after putting my food into the pot, it completely ruined the meal to the point where I couldn't eat any of it. To make matters worse, I ordered a Sex on the Beach cocktail, and it tasted extremely watered down with almost no flavor. Overall, the only positive part of this experience was the restaurant's aesthetics. Unfortunately, good décor can't make up for poor service and bad food. I will not be returning.

We ordered the squid stir fry and pork ribs, and the flavors were great, but there were some differences in the dishes. Squid stir fry: This dish was incredible--definitely the best in Jacksonville. The squid was tender and perfectly cooked, not chewy at all. The stir fry had an amazing balance of spices, and there were no fillers like rice cakes or too many vegetables drowning out the squid's flavor. The dish was packed with flavor, and each bite was a combination of savory, spicy, and a slight sweetness that complemented the seafood perfectly. It was the standout dish of the meal and one I'll definitely be coming back for. Pork ribs: While the ribs were tender, they were too sweet for my liking, and the flavor felt a bit one-dimensional. The sauce was heavy on the sweetness, which made the ribs feel a little cloying after a while. They could benefit from a bit more balance with some acidity or spice. In terms of portions, Kim's Korean BBQ is generous. The rice comes in a half bowl, so you'll need to order more if you're craving extra, and the Bonchon (fried chicken) is only available with a full meal or as an additional charge, which is something to keep in mind. The prices are on the pricier side, especially when compared to other Korean places in town, but the taste and authenticity make it worth it. The owners are Korean and will speak to you in Korean if you're comfortable with the language. The staffing was a little overwhelmed, as the lady owner seemed to be doing most of the work, and at one point, you could hear her directing her husband at the register to assist with various tasks. This led to a bit of a longer wait for the food, but it was understandable given that they were a bit understaffed. One thing I really appreciated was the cleanliness of the place. Kim's is one of the cleaner Korean restaurants in the area, which is always a plus. Despite the staffing hiccups and the slightly sweet pork ribs, the overall experience was great. I'll definitely be coming back for that squid stir fry and to try more of their authentic dishes!

Visiting my son & DIL this past weekend, both of my son's dining suggestions were wing-focused. But my vegetarian DIL (she eats some seafood) seemed to be more interested in Bonchon than the other potential spot, so I took her side to make our choice. I can usually find something to eat on any menu, in spite of my immature palette, and Bonchon was no exception. In fact, there are several other things I want to try now! We started with the Korean Cucumber Salad & Bao Buns with Pork Belly. No one that knows me will be surprised that the cucumber salad was much too hot for me. But here is something unexpected... I loved the cole slaw on the Bao Bun, and the sauces were complementary enough that the spice level was fine for me. I would definitely order the Bao Buns again, and try the other meats. For my meal, I ordered the Bibimbap with Bulgogi, and really enjoyed it. Their marinated beef was very tasty, and of course I love an egg on just about anything. Another (non)shock, I did not care for the Bibimbap Sauce because it was rather hot; I appreciated that it was served on the side. Hubs said the mushrooms & caramelized onions were very good, but I didn't eat either. Then I tried a Classic Crunch drumstick, and fell in love! Yes, I bit into it like y'all do, and ate the skin, too. What a delicious piece of chicken! I didn't even need a dipping sauce (& I can't remember what the boys chose anyway). My son insisted that I'd enjoy a Korean BBQ wing also, and I'm sure I would, but I was already getting full. Next time! Also for my next visit, my DIL got a Mopo Corndog as her appetizer (though she also ate a lot of the cucumber salad), and it looked amazing! The name was confusing (to me), but there is no hot dog inside, so I want to try one. Fried mozzarella & potato cubes! They have two versions, so of course I want to try both; although I'm rather skeptical about the sugar-cinnamon coating, I'm anticipating an unexpectedly delicious bite. Service was fantastic, although they weren't very busy yet on this Saturday evening. Our server was very attentive & friendly, and none of us waited for a new drink or refill. My son & DIL evidently visit often, so I'm sure we'll return. I wish we had a Bonchon location closer to us!
