The place is packed on a Friday which is great! The restaurant has been a favorite for many years! The menu is on a napkin which is so cute. The waitress was nice and was on top of making sure we had what we needed! I will say my food was cold so I know it has been sitting there! It was delicious however!

Another pic of the Steak Sandwich, from another day and angle!

One word: steak sandwiches. Kay's played a key role throughout my high school years, being the spot for food before chorus. The service? Always speedy and efficient, both for take out and dine-in. The generous slabs of steak always had the right amount of salt. With several customization options, I consistently opt for American cheese, sautéed mushrooms and onions. I decided to dine in after some time and am happy the comforting flavors are still there, 3+ years after my initial review. However, I miss the old buns! I had a hard time keeping the sandwich in tact with the new ones, which felt like it had very little to no hold of the goodness in between. Other than that, the seasoning on the steak never changed. The sandwiches are hearty and come with potato chips, pickles and pepperoncini. The complementary sides add another level of texture to pair with each savory bite. Now that I can drink (LOL), the atmosphere calls for an intimate night out with affordable prices for good eats. If you're looking for a casual night out, Kay's feels like that one spot in a small hometown movie.

Always love the old school feel of Kay's. It's come a long way from the napkin menu days....but the sandwiches are still awesome! Love the ahi tuna appetizer and the chicken pot pie was good! Exactly what you expect from a chicken pot pie! Service is always friendly and attentive! Especially tonight! Steak and cheese - simply delish - on its soft buttered roll! Yum!

Kay's is a place that is always consistent! Our go to is always the classic steak and cheese sandwich - you can't go wrong. Service is always fast and friendly. Cute little spot for lunch or dinner. Menu is small (on a napkin!) but they've added specials which we have yet to try. We love Kay's!

Kay's is a Woonsocket institution. One of my favorites in town, and I always have to get the famous steak sandwich. You also can't go wrong with their variety of sandwiches, seafood, and specials. They have enough seating open for walk-ins anytime and a friendly bar. The bar has a nice offering of IPAs and other drafts on tap. We tried their homemade chicken soup to beat the cold. It had a great broth and was hearty, perfect for the season. They switch around their specials often, and they upload them on their Facebook, so give it a look. Of course, I had to grab the steak sandwich. You can customize it to your liking; I always go for sauteed mushrooms and onions. My only issue is they changed their rolls. This wouldn't be an issue if the meat weren't so (perfectly) juicy. This ends up making the buns soggy after the first couple of bites. I typically wouldn't advocate for soggy buns, but for how fast you'll end up scarfing it down anyway, it's no biggie.

What a pleasant surprise. My friend and I came here before the show at the Stubert Theatre. Small & cozy ambiance. You seat yourself, which I really honestly love! There's plenty of booths & tables for the space. Menus were on the table again, love it!! Our server was at our table perfectly timed. We ordered drinks and had those before ordering. Sam our server was spot on! She was nice, very accommodating and quick. I did call because I had seen photos of entrees but didn't see on the menu? So Friday and Saturday nights only they do some pretty awesome entrees, ones in addition to there famous "napkin" menu. We had clams casino, a wedge salad and the lobster & fish casserole. Everything was excellent! We shared it all & asked for it to come out together. Unfortunately we didn't have time for dessert but had some nice choices.

    Roast Beef Sandwich $11.50

Kay's is not a go-to spot, even if they've been around a while. I have to start with their stuffed mushrooms app for $10.50 - they were nasty. The taste had a weird funk to them and seems like it was thrown together or frozen. Their roast beef sandwich ($11.50) was a good size and stuffed well, but lacked flavor. I know this meat isn't the most flavorful cut but it had no taste and I needed a lot of mustard. My brother gave me a bite of his Maui sandwich ($16) and it was a little better. The bartender paid barely any attention to us and looked she didn't want to be there. Food quality isn't the highest here and service isn't spectacular either.

What a marvelous experience! The service was impeccable and the food was delicious. A treasure in Woonsocket. Yet another reason I love it here!

Wedge salad was a large portion and great price, $10.99. Homemade blue cheese dressing was excellent! I just about finished my salad and that doesn't happen too often. Waitresses were cheerful and worked as a team. Restaurant has a great atmosphere with a full service bar, separated from the dining area. I've had the steak sandwich here several times and I never have been disappointed. Very consistent

On our way to a performance in Woonsocket, my husband chose to have dinner at Kay's before the show. I had never been, so it was my first time. The place was packed but we were able to get a table after only about 10 minutes. Their specialty are sandwiches and their original menu is still printed on a napkin....LOL. The expanded menu comes in a larger piece of paper. My husband loved his steak and cheese sandwich, which came with chips. I ordered the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which came on a bed of greens and it was really good...a deal for only $12.50. My bowl of soup was a bit salty for me, but it was not bad. The waitstaff seemed a bit slow and inefficient as it took forever to get someone's attention...afterwards, the waitress never came to check on us and we had to ask someone else to get here for our check..Overall an OK place. In 2020, because of the pandemic, they opened their outdoor dining area, which as a combination of regular tables out in the open as well as 4 "igloos" where you can sit inside.

This is one of the area's long standing go-to spots. It had been a while and it didn't disappoint! We sat at the bar, which is a little cramped and somewhat noisy. It's a great vibe and the bartenders are terrific. There were some raw bar offerings on the specials menu and we decided to try it. I am normally pretty skeptical about raw fish that far inland. But it was amazingly fresh and prepared beautifully. I wouldn't hesitate to order it again! We both ordered baked seafood for our entrees. I had a combo of fish, stuffed shrimp and sea scallops. My date ordered the baked fish. Everything was fabulous, fresh and hot. Portions were generous and I had a doggy bag. Will definitely be back!

Time for an update! I very much enjoy myself every time I come here, which is over a dozen times since 2011. The menu has expanded, the lobsta sandwiches are succulent and they mix some mean cocktails. I enjoy sitting at the small old timey bar but they have expanded with an outdoor bar and seating. I also enjoy the pastrami sandwich.

    Meat Pie
    Zeny S.

Definitely not the same Kays from years ago. We come in from the west coast for the roast beef sandwich and buttered roll. Grilled buttered roll is no longer. There was no seasoning on the meat. Just meh. I had the meat pie and it was again meh. Nothing stood out. Nothing special. It's as if it should have been served with a salad or a side. Service was slow. Very slow. Busy bar, but slow table service. The interior has been painted and is brighter. Medium noise level. Looks cleaner. Idk if we will come back. I'm already thinking of ways to make the food better.

It's the kind of place where you can grab a casual dinner, hang out with friends, and end up staying way longer than you planned because the atmosphere is just that good. I wasn't sure what style of pub/bar/tavern pie it would be but I was eager to find out. Our bartender was super friendly and quickly put in our order. We got two pizzas. One standard pepperoni and the other Chicken + Pickle. The pizzas came out ripping hot and smelling heavenly. The crust of these pies is more akin to a pan style pizza than what I would think of as a bar or tavern pie. It had that buttery crisp that reminds me of old school Pizza Hut (and I mean that complementary!). The sauce was a solid supporting character, the real star are the cheese and toppings here. It tastes and stretches like they use a blend of cheddar and mozzarella. The pepperoni was cooked to perfection. The cups pooling with oil and so crunchy. The chicken was quite tender and most on the other pizza, and the dill pickle taste was in full force, exactly as I was hoping! While I was hoping to find something like South Shore Bar Pie, what I did find was an awesome pub pan pizza in a spot that I've passed 100s of times. I'm glad I stopped in and I'll definitely be back. That pepperoni could not have been cooked any better

The skipper is fried cod with extra melt sharp American cheese, lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce. This was absolutely horrendous. It was beyond obvious that the cod was pre made, battered and frozen like the kind you can buy at a grocery store but worse. Gortons brand even blows this one out of the water. This sandwich had way too much cheese and tartar sauce which leads me to the worse part of the sandwich, the tartar sauce. It was disgustingly sweet like it had been made with sweetened condensed milk. J's should never attempt a fish sandwich again, you can get much better at a fast food restaurant for half of the price. The skipper is most certainly a skipper in my book. I also had one steak and cheese eggroll at a whopping $3.49. It was actually in a spring roll wrapper so I'm not sure why they're trying to pass it off as an eggroll. It was way below average, small and mostly cheese with barely any steak. An easy waste of money. They have a big menu online but only about 1/4 of the menu is displayed at this location. They also have the world's smallest selection of Pepsi products. A good amount of Coke products though. My last visit was beyond disappointing and a big shocker coming from J's. I think I'll stay away from this place for awhile.

He was by no means rude and clearly busy but it definitely seemed as though he didn't check in as much as he could have. As for the food itself it's always been nice. Not stellar and by far not my favorite Italian places but serviceable. The prices are borderline reasonable to pricey, with my meal being $25. I would say $25 is a little steep for two pieces of chicken. However, the portions are gracious enough to leave you full but not bursting and the food always does taste fresh.
