The manager David dropped my fries which delayed my sandwich and therefore caused my sandwich to get Luke warm, when I asked to have a fresh sandwich, he gave me this rude look and said " it had only been sitting there for 1-2 minutes and in actuality it as more like 10. The thing is, if he wouldn't have dropped my fries and maybe he felt silly for making a mistake but don't argue with a customer about the temperature of their food. I will say that I'm giving this experience 2 star because of Danielle, the server that actually took my to go order. This was my first Katz Feli experience which was not good at all due to poor customer service from a manager at this location. It will not detour me from visiting the deli again as this 1 individual does not represent Katz Deli as a whole. read more

We are stuck in a hotel in Houston waiting out the flood. We were so fortunate to have Katz's Deli open close to us!!! They get a 5-star review just for being open during the deluge, but the great food and service won us over. It was clear that they were working with a limited staff and less-than-ideal kitchen conditions, but the whole staff showed their appreciation at every turn. We will definitely be going back!!! read more

The best sandwich around here. I always get the Reuben with Corned Beef, sauerkraut, sauce on rye with cold slaw and pickle. They do not skimp on the meat portions or the veggies. I highly recommend this place. read more

We were really hoping that this deli would be our new "go to" spot, sadly we will not be returning. On 2/29/2020 our family walked in around midnight on our way home from a game at Minute Maid Park. The blonde hostess tried to sit us at a table and we saw several booths available and I asked if we could be seated in one of the booths. She scooped up the menu's and walked passed the booth and tossed the menu's on the table, never stopping and walked over to the older guy at the bar and said out loud, "oh well, I tried!'. Her rudeness was really unacceptable and unnecessary. He then came over and we placed our order. This was possibly the worst food ever. The Veggie burger tasted like wet dog and the Turkey Ruben was wet and soapy tasting. I took a couple of bites and could not stomach anymore. The waiter who took our order was complaining to the people seated behind us about how he was shorted a table tonight and he was upset. Any establishment is only as good as the people they employ. Unfortunately, there were so many things unpleasant with this experience that there is no reason to ever return. 1 star because it did resemble a NY style deli. read more

Straight up the worst Philly cheesesteak I've ever had. It's hard to mess that up. I thought I could find at least one redeeming quality in anything I ordered but the Mac and cheese side I got was so over salted I thought I was about to go into hypertension. Went here a year ago and had the same experience. I thought for sure it must've turned around when I came back again today. What a waste of money. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Amazing food, great atmosphere, awesome service! I'm originally from NY/NJ, and this place made me feel at home!

I'm stunned at how many reviews are based on silly stuff like au jus, chicken and waffles, and (ACCCKKK) veggie reubens. Hello? This is a NEW YORK CITY style DELI! They specialize in: corned beef; pastrami; lox; matzo ball soup; chopped liver; etc. The rest is all something to offer an alternative choice to the SO/date of the actual fan of the NYC/Jewish deli. Stuff that matters to any NYC style Deli fan: - They serve real brisket CB and pastrami. Not sure if they cook it in-house, but it's not the garbage lunchmeat stuff that is made from top round. Real brisket here. - They make their own Russian dressing and slaw. - They may or may not make their own rye bread, but it is excellent. Crusty-chewy on the edge, and soft-chewy on the inside. - The chopped chicken liver appetizer is top-notch. - The service is solid. I took a star off for two reasons: - The pickle isn't garlicky enough for my taste. - I'm not a fan of three-bread-slice sandwiches. But it's easy enough to remove the center slice of bread. Yes, Katz's is somewhat expensive. But they put to shame most every other so-called 'deli' that serves lunchmeat in their sandwiches. Serving slow-cooked real brisket CB alone is worth the extra cost. You want a good french dip? Go to a steak house or sub shop. You want good chicken and waffles? Go to a southern diner. You want a veggie anything? Go to an avant-garde or Farm-to-Fork restaurant. There are TONS of them in HOU and central Texas. Katz's is a pure NYC/Jewish deli. Thank goodness. There are woefully few of them around in South Texas. read more

This restaurant has been a recent favorite of mine. I've been here three times within the last month and tried a different breakfast dish each time. Each time I was impressed with the presentation, size, and flavor of every meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with a nice diner vibe that's both comforting and vibrant with life. read more

We wondered why only three stars but had an urge for pastrami. Tried the turkey pastrami and it was...turkey. Eh! Beef pastrami was so so. Service was rather inconsistent. Probably a single visit. Three stars may be generous. read more

4 stars for the food. Huge servings, lots of options, yummy deserts (The coconut macaroons were hawt!). 2 stars for the service. The sad thing: I ordered TO GO! read more

I don't mind if the gratuity is included in the bill, but what made me mad was they overcharged my card. My total bill was 22.46, but they added a 18% tips which came out be 15 dollars.. how is 18% of 22:46 is 15 dollars?? Damn thieves. Screw that place. Had not been to Katz in several years , nothing like it used to be . They are currently undergoing construction but the cube the atmosphere let me Down . I ordered Philly cheesesteak , fried chicken , a burger and pickle chips . No one st any of it besides the Philly cheesesteak which was pretty good , the rest went to my fog lucky which he snared at it for sometime .... Great traditional New York style sandwiches and Jewish deli eats, Cel-Ray soda and hand made egg creams. Attentive staff, but it was also 8:30 on a Friday night, it didn't get busy until after 9. My wife said the Yankee potroast sandwich was like a hug for her tummy. read more

Very good food and service. This place is open 24 hours and is great for after a late night out. I have been here several times this year and the food is very good. They have many choices to satisfy what ever you might be craving. Real New York style deli sandwiches, lox and bagels, smoked salmon or anything you can imagine for breakfast. I had the Monte Cristo and it was very tasty. The Mac n Cheese was also very good. Do not hesitate to stop here and give it a try. 1000 times better than Denny's or IHOP. read more

Best Reuben and onion rings I've ever had. My husband thinks so, too. Highly recommend. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck.

Patty melt: a type of sandwich consisting of a hamburger patty, topped with caramelized onions and Swiss cheese between two slices of bread. Patty melts are sometimes prepared using marbled rye bread. My sister ordered a said patty melt and instead we received an unsmashed chunk of hamburger meat between toast with American cheese and that's about it. My burger was dry and wasn't even worth taking home for the dogs. It's gets 2 stars for its nice renovation and okay service. We all agreed we probably would've had a nicer sit down lunch at Whataburger and saved ourselves from the outrageous prices. Will not return. read more

Food is outstanding. Portions are great. Service is TERRIBLE. We have been here 4 times in the last 2 months and twice now they have not made our to go order correctly and had to redo. Tonight we waited way too long to get waited on then the order was messed up and no apology or discount was offered. We will not be back. read more

No matter how many times I go here or how badly I want to like it, I always leave with the taste of disappointment and regret in my mouth. Our dinner tonight was 100% (every single item) at room temperature, and the broccoli cheese soup was simply horrid (actually chilled somehow). The only thing that gave my meal any flavor was my own tears of frustration. read more

Stringy ham isn't pastrami! Their rueben pastrami was pinkish, stringy rubber. I lived in NYC for 20+ years and a deli can't stay in business if their pastrami is not soft like butter, salty and flavorful. Sadly, this was not. read more

Good eats! A little pricey for a sandwich and sweet potato fries; spent $20. I had the chicken hero and it was pretty Yummy

Love, love, love this restaurant! The perfect place to put you in your New York memory. The food is great and delicious. The desserts are wonderful! If you haven't been to New York, come to Katz Deli. There food focuses on authentic New York staples. The aesthetics brings you into the city itself. The food is above average But it's totally worth a visit on a rainy Sunday morning. read more

So I absolutely love Katz's sandwiches, but I will not be going back. They have priced themselves out of being even remotely worth it. I picked up a to go order today and found out that they increased their prices by almost 50%! I'm sorry but $16 for a sandwich with no side is ridiculous. By the way they did not update the prices online. When I asked they said the website couldn't keep up with all the price changes. Seems convenient when all of their business is take out right now. It is a shame because I have always liked their food. read more

weak. Portion size was pathetic. My "Grilled Pastrami Hero" order was destroyed by having been put in the steamer. Tasted just like a microwave sandwich. Carrot cake wad good. Iced Tea was instant! Disappointed because it used to be a pretty good place for deli style nostalgia food. read more

Food was average but the worst part were the potato pancakes. They came out FROZEN. So much for fresh. But wait it gets better....they take them back ok thanks but then we get the bill and instead of taking the pancakes off the check they charged for a half order instead of a full order since we attempted to eat them...what?!!! So the manager can e over and was like ok we can take them off if you would like. Customer service is slowly disappearing. Our waiter Darius was fantastic though. So props to him. read more

WOW. I waited 24 hours to leave this honest review. Top 10 worst restaurants I have ever been in. Only good thing is the Hostess was very nice. 50 min to get the worst Rueben sandwich I have ever had. Meet was so flavorless and tough I set it down ate the potato salad that must come in a tub from supplier. 36.00 for 2 bites of a horrible sandwich and a $10 shake I never tasted. I will never ever go back. This is the first review I have ever left anywhere. Want to warn everyone I can. That bad. read more

Over priced. The pot roast sandwich was mostly bread. I couldn't eat all the bread so I opened up the sandwich and I ate the meat. I was upset that they would put such a small portion of meat in an expensive sandwich. I picked up my order so I was back at work when I got my surprise. Don't waste all that bread!!! I will not return. By the way, I picked up 4 lunch orders for our office. Three out of the four were unhappy with the orders. read more

Visited here with family. I use Katz's catering a lot for business but have never visited the restaurant. went for Sunday lunch. Service was ok very relaxed. I'm still trying to leave! Shity service, brought dinner first then later the appetizers showed up cold, had to go to the bar in order to get a drink. Not busy barely half full. What's sad is Jason's has better quality pastrami. An hour and a half for a deli sandwich! Katz Sucks! read more

Don't try to eat here at 6am. Was really hoping this would be great for breakfast because there are so few restaurants in the area open for breakfast. (Never understood why a "breakfast" restaurant doesn't open before 7.) We left after five minutes because they vacuum the restaurant at 6. Their vacuum cleaner obviously needs some maintenance or a better filter. The host was very understanding and said he'd ask the vacuumer to stop, but it was too late. The dining area already was filled with fumes and dust and so we left, coughing and gagging. I realize the restaurant needs to be vacuumed, and there's no "non customer" time with a 24 hour restaurant, but do it with a proper vacuum PLEASE! read more

We visited on our way back to the Dallas area. Our waitress forgot to put in our order after 15 minutes of waiting then came to our table and asked us what we ordered. Tried to remember it, told it back to us wrong then decided to write it down. After waiting for another 15 minutes when we started see the people that came in after us get their food, I asked to speak to the manager. He conveniently came over when our food came out. The food was bland and that is being nice. I asked for a spoon to feed my baby the applesauce we ordered and she brought over another fork. I'm not sure what is/was wrong with her. But good grief. read more
