A fun and flat trail that meanders about 3.3 miles one way, making it a great option if you want to do the full route and then retrace your steps for a solid 6.6-mile walk back to your starting point. We parked at Reverchon Park, which is located at one end of the trail. The path is mostly flat and includes designated bike and walking lanes. Around midday, there is a fair amount of shade on the walking side, which was excellent. Just be sure to wear sunscreen and bring a hat--skin cancer is no joke! read more

Nice walking trail with some shade. There is a pedestrian only path that is padded I most of the trail. Fitness equipment on the south side of the trail. A great green space in downtown Dallas to walk. Great to take your dog as well with plenty of areas and the restaurants have water for you and your dog along the way. read more

I love Katy trail! The vibe is perfect if you want to get a run. We live out in the west but we make the drive here almost every weekend because the vibe here is just great. Only tricky part is, we cannot find the restroom! I read on their official website that it's on the south trail but could not find it for the love of cheese! So, we just park and get Starbucks before our run, then use the restroom prior to running! read more

Fantastic trail! Lots of improvement over the years! Super landscaping! Great views during daytime or night! Lots of wildlife at night scurrying out of your way! The pedestrian only softer surface has increased which gives more volume of pedestrians. There are a lot of restaurants just off the trail and of course the Katy Trail Ice House next to it. Plenty of water fountains for both people and pets. Using the trail at late night is fantastic! Quiet, not a lot of people, just enough lighting to see the trail and not drown out the skyline views! Do be mindful of the many bikes and large dogs on leashes. My last trip was due to the Dallas Memorial March for Carry The Load. A lot of memorials to fallen military and first responders along the path! read more

Great paved, multi-&-single use 3 plus mile trail running through & past downtown Dallas. Clean, great plantings alongside, good signage, one path for just walkers, other, wider path for bikers, walkers, runners, pets, et al. Multiple entrances, both legit & carved out. There are a few stop-off places to drink & dine (although they are expensive by virtue of their convenience). It is busy almost any time of day, any time of year. Thankful to have this. read more

So great that this trail starts in the heart of downtown, near restaurants, apartments, sporting arenas...it is so accessible! I was looking for a place to run in Dallas and the trails by the Trinity River honestly looked a little sketchy when I checked them out. Running alone in a strange city does come with some risks, and I am not as risk tolerant as I used to be, so several Yelpers recommended the Katy Trail and as I trust my fellow Yelpers, I checked it out and loved it. I ran on the trail for just a mile or so (I had meetings so I was squeezing in a run and it was a mile each way to get to the trail) but I loved it! It is so great seeing a nice, designated recreation area. Especially one that is used by runners, walkers, bikers, dog walkers, etc. It was clean, well marked and easy to use. Next time I am in town, I'd like to explore more of it, but for right now, I am giving a glowing four star review to the trail. Five stars if they had more asphalt for running, because my old knees have a hard time on concrete. read more

The Katy Trail is a beautiful, open-to-the-public greenway. My fiance's family actually lives nearby, so when we visited them, we would take walks along the trail in the morning. After a few minutes walking down the street, we would hit one of the entrances to the trails. I love to listen to podcasts while walking along this trail, and you will find company in passing runners, walkers, people out with their dogs, and parents out with their children. It's a very calm, low pressure space to engage in some outdoor exercise either alone or with friends. Few cities have access to such tranquil and protected greenways. Dallas is lucky to have and continue funding the Katy Trail. read more

I finally get it. I understand why Dallas loves Katy Trail! After noticing that a number of businesses and places had the words "Katy Trail" in their names, I became curious. Where is this Katy Trail? Is it easily accessible? Where do I sign up? I'm always looking for good places to run or exercise. Trails in the city are most always different and exciting, too. After a little research, I decided to try this entrance and so far, it's where I like to park and start my morning runs. The only downside is that the parking lot isn't very large and all the other parking spots are reserved for nearby businesses. This trail is perfect for walkers, joggers, runners, bikers, everyone! In it's entirety, Katy Trail spans 3.5 miles, through Uptown/Oak Lawn, ending about a half mile or so from the American Airlines Center. The entire trail is paved and wide enough to accommodate traffic in both directions. There is also a lovely little plaza that overlooks Reverchon Park as well as Katy Trail Ice House, which is right off the trail and has awesome outdoor seating. Definitely hit up Katy Trail if you're looking for a cool, easy run or ride. :] read more

The trail is accessible from so many spots. Many complexes/ townhomes have direct/ secure access to the trail. I accessed it from downtown ( Houston st entrance). There are plenty of bikers, runners, dog walkers etc- so you don't feel isolated but they've expanded it so you don't feel crowded. It's a very safe feel. read more

This has become my new spot!!! I love outdoor walks and now that the weather is getting better this is the perfect place to come for a stroll or a nice jog. It's such a nice well kept up trail in the heart of Dallas, which is a refreshing escape from the big city vibes. If I lived closer I would be out everyday but I try to make it out a couple times a week. Also there are restaurants and parks off the path which make for nice breaks and offers other things to do. If you haven't tried it out I definitely recommend it. As far as parking for those who are not in walking distance I recommend parking at Reverchon Park and walking through the park to the trail. read more

Favorite running trail in Dallas, hands down. There's gorgeous views and different parts of the trail offer different things. You can walk behind cute houses, cut through nature, or along side ponds and streams. Since the trail is so long there's not too much foot traffic build up. There's the Katy Trail Ice House along the way as well. I've never been but it's pet friendly. So if you happen to go for a nice walk with your dog, you can step in for a beer or two afterwards. That might defeat the point of the walk but who am I to judge anyone who wants to day drink? Just check out this trail. You won't be disappointed. read more

*This is a review is written for Dallas visitors! It is so tough when your new to Dallas to find all of the entry points to the Katy Trail it is ridiculous! I had been in Dallas for years and still had such a tough time finding entry points, but once found it is like so fun to know about the trail! Just to note, this review is really for the folks visiting and staying downtown Dallas! Wouldn't you like to know where to go for a great escape to back to nature or even a great run to release some stress? Well, my friends here is the southern entrance to the Katy Trail. There are so many entrances & exits to this very hidden treasure and this is written for you out of town folks so you can find this trail! Yes, I know, I keep going on about the entry points on the trail, but this is just too fun to know about! Love the Katy Trail! Just to note this is one long trail with so many entrances & exits that this one really needs to be book marked for those in downtown Dallas that want to get back to nature for a quick run or getaway from the rat race! This trail is just so breath taking and fun it is one of those places that lets you get you exercise on and back to nature at the same time it is not funny! Big shout out to so many of the unsung hero's that take the constant care of this fun trail! I do not know if you know, but I flat out love this trail! read more

We were told to visit this nature trail while visiting Dallas. And then they quickly said..oh wait..it's not really a nature trail it's just a long paved stretch of road. All concrete. But it's really nice though. Well, that pretty much sums it up. It's very clean and tidy and well marked along the way. There are tons of condos and buildings under construction along the way. So it's not very scenic in that respect. Hop on this trail at any marker but I recommend hanging around the West Village entrance. The surrounding parks and fountains and water displays are wonderful. It's the perfect spot to enjoy your snack. The trail is so easy and probably the best escape you'll find to get away from the concrete jungle. read more

This is a great urban trail, running right through Dallas but with many sections of the 6 miles that I walked wooded on both sides as if I was not in the middle of the city. There were lots of bridges, which I love, and a number of water fountains every half to full mile. It's a great place to walk, ride a bike, or rollerblade. The jogging would be good too, although the majority of the trail is concrete; there are a few sections off to the side of the main trail with a more forgiving surface for pedestrians. It's clear why so many apartment buildings and condos have gone up along this trail; almost all of them have direct access to the trail for their residents. This trail was very quiet in mid afternoon but got pretty crowded by 5 pm when I was finishing up. read more

Beautiful trail/park. I just came to relax, lounge on a blanket and soak up some sun. I would have went to Kylde Warren, but I wasn't trying to pay for parking. I parked on a side street and enjoyed a few hours here. The trail is nice. Lots of squirrels but they don't bug you. The fountain is pretty to look at. I'd come back in some workout gear. It wasn't that kind of party today. Great place to people watch too. read more

Started walking and running here (Thomsen Overlook\Reverchon Park entrance) 2nd week of January this year. It is GREAT! I moved to Dallas in 1992, but never explored this Trail until this year. (lost 77 lbs in 2014-2015.) It's taken 4-5 years for me to courage-up to running outside (I'm accident prone! heh!), and this Trail is my first. I feel like I'm not even in Dallas while on it!! Just make sure you never stray into any grassy areas... plenty of dog poo. All of the water fountains aren't operational, so if you need to hydrate often, being your own water. read more

Please be so aware of your surroundings. My friend and I were followed tonight on the Katy Trail. We parked at the park off of Maple. We were walking her dog, who is a larger dog, 90lb, but still a friendly puppy. Once we passed Ice House an older man in a blue shirt asked to pet the dog. We didn't think anything of it but it was a weird interaction and when we walked away he began to cat call us. Towards the end of the walk I saw him again sitting on a bench, we were cutting through a small patch of woods on a side trail to return to the park, about to head down the stairs when I look back and see this man following us, hiding behind trees, peaking around the corner. We began to speed walk trying to get down the stairs and thank god ran into a couple who also saw the man STILL following us, who walked us to our car. This was terrifying. Especially after seeing so many girls alone on the trail. We are so freaked out. read more

If you hate running as much as I do, but for some reasons still have to drag your butt out there and run? Katy Trail is the perfect place to get some good runs in and bring down your run time. How? You may ask. With so many distractions along the trail, from fluffy gorgeous dogs that make me want to kidnap at least 1 or 2 so badly, to bunch of runners/walkers/"catwalk models", to beautiful houses/condos/apartments/scenery along the trail, focus on that to keep your mind off of the pain and the thought that you might be dying from running out of breath. I have not run from 1 end of the trail to the other end, so can't tell you how long the whole trail is exactly, but it's definitely more than 4miles. If you don't live within walking distance to the trail, William B. Dean and Reverchon Park would be the perfect places to park your car and get on the trail from there. read more
