I've been going to this park for over 54 years. It is still as beautiful now as it was back then. It is an easy 7.5 mile walk from the house or 9 miles if I stick to the formal trails. My last three trips were for this year's Memorial Day activities in support of Carry the Load. This park comes to a new life when there is a large event such as the very noble Carry the Load. Reverchon's beautiful greenery, powerful oaks and gentle rolling meadows are accented with the dark reddish sandstone walls and structures that soothes the soul. It is almost like a slice of Eden.To see this impressive park comfort those grieving as they remember the fallen military, police, fire and other first responders validates its role as a magnanimous friend. It fosters the catharsis and healing needed by many. The trip up and down from the Katy trail (which is high above) can be as challenging as you want to achieve and as beautiful as you want to view. I like the winding stone steps. There are observation terraces, conversation pits, and nature everywhere. It is shielded by quiet Dallas high rises just far enough away. The quiet serenity at night is in contrast to its vibrant life during the day. It retains the natural attraction whether it is a hand full of park goers to over ten thousand. It's great for the dogs, kids and oldtimers like me. There are some sport facilities for the team sport athletes. And of course there are the trails. There is a lack of immediate parking which I think helps retain its natural beauty . There are lots and streets to park if you decide not to go on foot. The adjoining recreation center has all you could want or need. The food and drink options are not too far away and some are world renown. If you need mental cleansing or some quiet reflection, Reverchon Park is the place to stroll. read more

It had some nice areas like the front entrance that had a beautiful flower garden with concrete seats. Some people report sketchy behavior but that's on par for a public park right?! I haven't noticed excessive issues with litter but I've been multiple times and they take really really good care of the landscaping. I appreciate that! This park leads to direct access to the Katy Trail. read more

A lovely urban park along Katy Trail. Beautiful are the trees surrounding the steps leading to it. Many leisurely strolls I've taken here on a given Sunday. Serene it is on beautiful days to submerge myself in enjoying reading a book, having a picnic, or ending the weekend by watching the sunsets here. Ahhh. Reverchon is such a beautiful park to enjoy any day of the week, I am here AT LEAST 3-4 times a day. Whether i am just walking through with my dogs to get to Katy Trail, or doing some squirrel watching, we cannot get enough of reverchon. There is no "unofficial off leash dog area" as mentioned in an earlier review, your dog should be leashed at all times. Although no one follows that law, so it can be quite frustrating when owners are a mile away on the other side of the park while their dog is jumping all over you and your dogs. I have been attacked at least 2 times and called a B**** for asking someone to leash their dog. Respect the park and respect others is all i will say about that! Plenty of grassy areas to just lounge around for a picnic, set up a hammock and enjoy the scenery. They host different events at the park throughout the year, such as the arts festival that just happened earlier this month i believe. There's a children's play area, basketball court, and a baseball field where i see some games every so often. This park has something for everyone to enjoy. read more

I've passed by this park a bazillion times going to and from The Grapevine Bar, but never really paid attention to it. Hehe. I met some friends here last weekend to run on the Katy Trail. I was worried about parking, but there were plenty of spaces in front of the park, and in front of the recreation center. We cut through the park and I noticed there was a covered play ground for kids. What a genius idea considering how hot it gets in the summer sun. The park seems pretty big, although I didn't pay too much attention other than noticing all the trees and green grass that I wondered if anyone ever picnics on. To get to the Katy Trail there are some stairs by this building in the back that take you up right to the trail. On the way back we found a sidewalk that winded down through the park, which made it nice for our run. Going down hill is way better than up hill. I would like to check out the recreation building since I saw something about no hassle gym memberships. All in and all seemed like a solid place to spend some park time doing what ever park goers do. : ) read more

I love this park. Beautiful, rolling hills greenery. It attaches to the Katy Trail. Also attaches to baseball park. Park has area for kids to play, unofficial area for dogs to be off leash (though sometimes you can get tickets for that), water fountains, etc. I love coming here to relax with my pup and a good book. read more

My friend and I walked through part of the park after we walked on the Katy Trail. Park parking was completely full, but we managed to find street parking across the street. The park itself is pretty big, but I wasn't that impressed otherwise. There's a playground, plenty of green fields, and a river. I absolutely love the stone bridges in this park. There is tons of space and it has a nice mix of open fields and wooded areas. I'd say it's one of Dallas's more underrated outdoor spaces. Connection to Katy Trail is at the top of the hill, closer to the highway. read more

Ever since I've relocated back to Texas, I've been having a hard time finding a nice outdoors-y place in the city that feels like it's an actual escape. I mean, Klyde Warren is nice and all but it's literally surrounded by buildings and cityscape. Enter Reverchon Park - it's just the loveliest thing I've found in Dallas, yet. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it was perfectly serene, I had the whole back part of the park to myself to just run, stare into the sun, and rejuvenate. It reminds me of my favorite park in SF called Lafayette, I miss it so much as I use to go every weekend and I'm glad to find another that reminds me of my former home. The only con is that there are some folks that don't take care of the park and there's a few litterings I saw around the area, which is really disappointing. Other than that, it's just a perfect place to fall in love with nature. I can't wait to go back. I parked by the Rec center and it looked perfectly safe during the daytime. read more

I used to enjoy coming here on the weekends to relax. It's become too crowded the last few times I have visited.

I really love taking my dog here. It's pretty close to where I live, it's right next to Katy Trail, there's parking available, there are a lot of open grassy fields, and there are some good walking trails within the park itself. It's still considered an urban park, but it's still very open and outdoorsy. Although there's a pretty big parking lot in the back, I'd make sure to hide all your valuables in your car since I've heard of a couple of break-ins happening. Warning: if you do not like dogs/are scared of dogs, do NOT come here. Tons of people let their dogs off their leashes, and there are just a bunch of puppies running around everywhere. I'm personally ok with it and my dog is good about other dogs approaching her, but if you have any concerns, just avoid this park. However, considering the number of dogs running around, owners are generally pretty responsible about picking up after their dogs. I always see a bunch of people here on the weekends. It's generally a great place for some football, frisbee, running, or biking. A group of friends and I like to come here to play some casual ultimate frisbee. And sometimes I even see food trucks along the paths! read more

This park is a great oasis in the middle of the city. The parking situation (lack thereof) is the reason this place isn't five stars. The park is huge and has many open grass areas. It also incorporates hills and is along the Katy Trail, with access points directly into the park. There are also basketball courts that are fairly active. The playground is where I spent most of my time and it is great. It is heavily shaded so great for those summer months. Additionally, there are different sections depending on the age of the children, including an area for younger kids. There is ample seating in the vicinity of the playground so you can watch your kids. This park is for all slices of life however and is kept pretty clean. read more

Beautiful Park in Turtle Creek area of Dallas. Runs along side Katy trail with many openings between the two. Tree line sidewalks, a creek, a reflecting pond with a path around it and tennis courts. That was just a few of my views from the Katy trail, I am sure there is much more to explore. Katy trail was packed with walkers and cyclists, Reverchon had very few people on this Sunday afternoon. It looked empty mostly. I'll have to explore it more next time I'm in the area. There may be certain areas of the park that are more populated at different times. My Dallas based daughter says she goes to a yoga class there sometimes. read more

This is a nice park to hang out in despite the bad rap about "undesirables" that are found there. This is an urban park and it attracts all types of "urban personalities". I go travel all over and EVERY urban park has the racy types around so get over it. The park has a nice baseball field and place to walk and run around in. The basketball court is always busy and nice to see kids taking advantage of it. The hillside provides access to the Katy Trail which is a very nice place to do some walking and running. I love Reverchon Park. I've been here to play basketball on their concrete courts, to throw a softball around on their rolling green hills, to sit in the shade under a big beautiful tree and have a picnic...I never tire of hanging out in this park. There's also a great big playground for kids, a covered picnic area, and a Parks & Rec building (where I go to vote!). Festivals are often held here (like the Texas Veggie Fair) and the large grassy expanse is a great venue for things like that. I especially appreciate that it's easily accessible from the Katy Trail, so I can walk or ride my bike to the park whenever I feel like it. That's so nice to be able to do in a city that feels so car-oriented. I definitely recommend spending a day in the park! read more

One of my two very favorite parks in Dallas. It has everything - beautiful nature with giant hills, a natural creek and water hole with clear water, jogging trails, giant green spaces with plenty of shade for picnics, ancient trees, fascinating historical stone architecture from the Depression Era including an arched bridge (great for family pics in the autumn), amazing picnic tables/lookout points built into the side & on top of the hills, and a modern playground installation for small children. The park is very clean and feels safe during the day. It is dog friendly except for the fact that some irresponsible owners let their dogs off leash, so beware if you ARE a responsible dog-owner who leashes your dog. Not a good scenario if unleashed dogs do stupid things. read more

This is an awesome park! We parked here so we could go on the Katy Trail to workout. The park had great stairs to workout with and plenty of places for children and dogs to roam! I've been back a few times and it just gets better and better. There are new places that we find every time we visit and the last time we popped up on an Art festival! This spot is so versatile, complete with a baseball field and a tennis court no too far away. I will definitely be visiting on a regular basis! read more

A great ice house on the trail and a long yet broken up trail for both long-distance and short distance runners/ bikers/walkers. Originally conceived as Dallas's version of Central Park. The Baseball stadium is historic and hosted two major league teams in the 1970s as an exhibition. Mr. Reverchon was a Botanist and donated the initial bit of land to the city for a park. It has a covered playground that is accessible to handicapped children. Cool stone trail on the hill done by the WPA needs lots of work but very cool. Do the Katy trail as part of your visit.... you can walk down to Knox street and visit the restaurants and shops. read more

Beautiful park, perfect for a picnic or a little hike in the shade! The Katy Trail 5k actually starts and finishes on the grounds of this park. So it was fun to party on the lawn out here after the race! Take pics with the dolphin statue, enjoy the breeze in your hair, and the sunshine on your face! I'll definitely make my way back over here sometime soon! There's also a little rec center in the area if you live in the neighborhood to go get your workout on! read more

Well Hot Damn, I didn't realize the extent of this park. I only see a fleeting glance when I drive by. This park is pretty ginormous and enjoyable. Despite the creepsters that lurk around at night, this park has a lot to offer. There is a playground for children, ample field space for your pups to run and a baseball diamond tucked away in the back. It made me so happy to know there was such a nice recreational area in the oak lawn area. I decided to take my hyperactive boxer to this park so he could exert his energy by doing what I like to call, indie 500s. I am not sure if any of you reading this review have a dog that finds amusement in just running in circles over and over as fast as they can. Well my dog likes to. I am not sure if he is stupid or just easily amused, or both. Probably both. Well, at Reverchon park there were huge trees that shade a field with rolling hills that open up to an even larger field in the sunlight. I am so excited I discovered this park just in time for the beautiful weather. But I think for now, I think I will only visit this park in daylight as I think there is sketch things that transpire was the sun goes down. read more

We absolutely love this park. It connects to the Katy trail. Most times you'll see people with their dogs. They have a playground and basketball court. There is also a baseball field there. I wish they had a dog park though. It's large enough that you can unleash your dog. Most people do. I still get a little worried though since it's not gated. If you have a toddler, this is a perfect park. The padded ground and small playground is perfect for those just learning how to walk. I also love the fact that it is covered from the hot sun. I am amazed by all the recent improvements to this park- especially the connectors to the Katy Trail. It gets busy on the weekends, so try to come during the week. If you haven't been to Revershon in a while and are wary because of it's former reputation, visit again. Just keep in mind that it's in an urban neighborhood close to a large LBGT area. If you have problems with people who don't speak English or men holding hands, they probably don't want you there either. read more

Ahh, Reverchon. Arguably my favorite park in Dallas (although I flip flop between Klyde Warren and Reverchon... probably depends on my mood). This place is just so lovely! So many tall trees, hills, historic steps and benches made out of stone. It's much larger than Klyde Warren Park, and although it doesn't have all the tall buildings surrounding it, it still manages to feel like an urban park... but with a lot more nature. Haha. I have spent many a day just lounging under the trees on a blanket and ogling at all the adorable dogs running around. One of my favorite spots in Dallas, and I will be back very soon. :) read more

I always bring my grandchildren here when they visit me on the weekends. Today, we tried to enter the park but were told the park was closed for the entire day. It was 9:30 am on a beautiful April Sunday. A woman directing people setting up tents said we would have to leave because their group had rented the entire park for the entire day. When I questioned her about this being a public park and I didn't think that was fair, she said her group paid "a lot of money" to rent the park. I had to tell my 5 and 8 year old granddaughters there would be no fun today. So before you make the trip, be sure they are open. Otherwise, my granddaughters love the playground in this park. Reverchon is a great place to let the kids play after making them sit in the jogging stroller for an hour while I run Katy Trail. I love that the playground is covered so we don't get baked by the sun. And on that note, the equipment doesn't get burning hot. I like that the park is clean and well kept. While Reverchon might have had a seedy past, those days seem to be gone. Now it is a lovely place for kids to safely play. :-) read more
