I really like this lake! I come here often to walk, enjoy the view and take my kids to play at the park area. The view is really nice in the evenings on a sunny day. It's nice to watch the sun glistening against the water. This 3.1-mile trail is an easy route, it takes an average of 55 min for me to walk. This is a popular trail for birding, road biking, and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. We even come just to sit in our car and eat and gaze at the water sometimes. Theres always some one there with a cart with snacks, drinks, fruit or ice cream treats for the kids. It can get a little noisy since it's not far from Dallas Airport, but sometimes the planes flying by low is not a bad sight. I do recommend this lake for family time or even a date .

Had a nice peaceful day on the lake with friends. The lake view is a nice backdrop for an outing during covid times and people did a decent enough time of social distancing. The one drawback unless you love this, is that the planes are SO loud right next to you if you are on the side of the park with the boat dock. It didn't take away from our fun though as we are all avgeeks.

This was a nice surprise less than 2 miles from my motel! Free parking and place to walk, workout or just relax. Grabbed breakfast and ate it here and then went for a walk.

Great seeing planes landing very close and taking off. The thrust noise of the planes are amazing!!

I explain why I gave the park '4-Stars' instead of 5 near the end of my review. Bachman Lake Park is actually a very nice park to come to and relax, bike or take a stroll. These pics I posted, due to the early morning hour, really don't do it justice. The park is packed most days. They have vendors serving food and ice cream on push carts and there are grills and even a children's play station. They have boaters rowing and it appears some people fishing as well. Many people sit in their cars and talk or listen to the radio. AIRPLANES- The planes are constant and they fly low. I actually consider this is a plus. As the planes are landing (and taking off) they fly low right over the cars and the lake. It's very interesting. LACK OF DIVERSITY I gave the park four stars instead of five stars because there is almost no diversity in the folks who visit. I've visited Bachman Park now on three different occasions and it's overwhelming Hispanic. About 99.999% that's all I see. I'm black and I've seen one other black person out there and no whites or Asians. Ever. I take it that some people actually become uncomfortable with having their numbers represented on such a tiny level. I've never experienced any ill treatment but I do sit in my car and listen to the radio. I haven't gotten out to walk the park yet. The neighborhood appears to be diverse but this park is 99.99% nothing but Hispanics and that's kind of weird. It's like a hidden gym only the Hispanics know about.

Best running track in Dallas. Tons of parking and with Lovefield near by planes cross right over the lake.

I would advise looking for a different place to hang out. This park is near the airport and has a bit of a homeless problem.

I've always wanted to check out Katy Trail, and finally made the trip with my three dogs. Overall,…read morewe had a great time. The trail is well maintained, clean, and easy to walk. We went during the evening, and there were lots of people out enjoying the trail. Most people were friendly, although there were a few sketchy characters and a couple of less-than-friendly encounters. Nothing major, though, and it didn't take away from the experience. Next time, I'd like to try going in the morning to see how it compares. One thing I did notice was that some people on motorized bikes and hoverboards would come up pretty quickly from behind. It would be nice if more riders used their bells or gave a heads-up when passing so walkers and dogs have time to move over safely. One unexpected highlight was seeing several parrots along the trail, which was really fun. Between the nice trail, the dogs having a great time, and the overall atmosphere, it was definitely worth the visit, and I'll be back.

You've got runners getting miles in, people out for casual walks, cyclists cruising through, and plenty of folks walking their dogs--it feels active but not overwhelming. The trail itself is clean and well-kept, which always matters. Right now the foliage is turning and it adds a really nice touch--just enough color to make the run or walk feel refreshing instead of routine. It's one of those places where you can zone out, get your steps or miles in, and still feel connected to the city around you. Whether you're training, unwinding, or just getting outside with your pup, this trail delivers. Simple, scenic, and well thought out. Definitely a go-to spot.

The views of downtown and all the bridges is something else. You can feel like you're all alone out there, but so close to the action too. As a woman, we always have to be viligant about our surroundings, and I would not come here at night. I've been early in the mornings, when it's still a little dark out, so I usually walk up on the levees. You can see people coming from far away. I ran into an after-hours party one early Saturday, but since a flock camera was installed, I have not seen the kids out there - just people getting their fitness on, or the occasional hobo. I believe the entire trail goes about 4+ miles. When the weather cools off a little, I'll tackle the entire thing. Right now, I am enjoying the solitude and pumping up my music and dancing a little down the trail. If you hear cats screaming - it's just me singing along to Chappel Roan, so don't fear.

My husband and I came here for a weekend trek, and it's easily one of the best outdoor spots in North Texas. What I love most is the versatility. Whether you're looking for a smooth, paved stroll or want to get your boots a little dusty on the dirt hiking trails, they've got you covered. It's a great mix of elevation and flat stretches. It's a great spot for everyone. Pets are welcome (on leashes!), and there is a fantastic playground near the parking lot--perfect for kiddos who still have energy to burn after a hike. You'll see a beautiful variety of plants and likely some local wildlife. Just a heads-up: they do have warning signs posted for snakes and poison ivy, so definitely keep an eye on your surroundings while you explore. The parking lot is huge, but this place is popular! We arrived around 1:00 PM and it was nearly at capacity. We were lucky to snag a stall, but I'd definitely recommend arriving earlier in the morning if you want to avoid the parking hunt.

The entrance area is always crowded so people don't get to see how amazing this place is. It's incredible because once you go off trail, you can see for miles to around and the sunset views are phenomenal. There are plenty of shortcuts around this area if you just want to do a quick loop to the observation tower and back to the main entrance. I took my old dog out here years ago and went off trail to isolated areas. I hope other dog owners get to see how happy she is and how much joy dogs get from being in this place. It's fairly common to see people taking family photos here but again, I truly recommend walking in off trail areas for 10 minutes to get spectacular photos.
