A small but beautifully appointed city park in Addison. The center of the park is a bit sparse; not sure what the architect had in mind. But the trees surrounding the park are gorgeous!

This is a beautiful, small neighborhood park nestled in the middle of a subdivision. It's very well done and well-maintained, and I like how there are elements that reference celestial themes, for example, the human sundial at the elevated part of the park. It's a good place for light walking and stair climbing for exercise. There is no playground or park tables so don't go there expecting any of that. It's just a good park for light, casual strolls in a serene setting. There's very little parking so keep that in mind.

With the warmer weather today, I felt like going for a run would do my soul some good. I've ran this neighborhood and trail many times while In the Addison area so I figured this would suit me well. This park is a nice little area that has a short concrete loop around a nicely kept grassy area. It is located in an older, well established subdivision right off of Beltline. There are a couple other natural areas/parks also connected to this neighborhood making it a nice area to escape the busy city life. In all, I'm not sure how many miles of road/trails there are but the loop I take is about 1.5 miles, making two loops around 3 miles to close to 5 k depending of course on what corners I cut ‍. The trails are well kept by the city of addison. I find these trails and neighborhood to be really peaceful. The Celestial park is small but a nice refuge. Pets are plentiful here, and I've seen several people using the grassy area to picnic, throw frisbees or balls with their dogs, or just sitting on a blanket while their kids run around. The things I did notice that I didn't really like: There's zero parking here. I have had to go to a nearby school to park. Not a problem if you are here to walk your dog or go for a run but to just visit the park, it could be an issue. The city does a good job of cleaning the trails and there are multiple locations that provide free bags for pet waste disposal yet a lot of dog owners still do not pick up after their dogs. I noticed a lot of piles on the trails and several spots that had that distinct odor . Lastly, lots of pet owners are allowing their dogs to run free off leash. This isn't a problem for me personally but for some it may be. There are signs posted everywhere notifying pet owners of the city ordinance requiring dogs to be on a leash at all times. Please abide by this or else the city will be less likely to become or stay pet friendly. Something else I really like is that they have a couple of cameras mounted that monitor the trail heads. Now, I don't know to what extent they are monitored but the presence of them may be a deterrent for crime or may be evidence if one was committed. Overall, I really enjoy coming here. I do recommend at least a stop to see the stairway that has inspirational quotes. It's pretty neat.

I was still living in Dallas and my boyfriend was living in San Antonio. He came up to Dallas to take a CPA exam and we had dinner plans for that night. I went to pick him up and he said that his best friend had met a girl. They were relaxing at Celestial Park and we were going to go by and meet them there and then all four of us would go to dinner. Hmph. I was a little disappointed to say the least because I wanted to spend the evening alone with my boyfriend. 11 months earlier we had started our first date at Celestial with a bottle of wine and a few plastic glasses. I thought that was unique and here we were on our way to someone else's date at the same place. We arrived at Celestial and parked behind his friend's car. My boyfriend was glued to his phone, texting something as we strolled towards the stairs to the top of the sundial. At the top I saw a single lit candle, it was now just past dusk. At the base of the candle was a book with my name on it and inside were pages of photos of my boyfriend and I along with sweet sentiments of how we met and where our lives are going. The last page had a silly photo of me looking surprised and the caption read 'Don't look so surprised, kiss me'. I looked over to kiss my boyfriend and he had a box open with an engagement ring. He had had it designed using my mother's center stone from her engagement ring. She had passed away less than a year and a half earlier and my Dad had given my boyfriend the stone when he had shared with my father that we wanted to get married. It turns out his best friend had helped set everything up and my boyfriend needed to find a way to explain why his car was at the park. His best friend waited until the last second he could to take off so that nobody would disturb the lit candle or the book. Of course I said "Yes". We went to dinner alone and I moved to San Antonio the next day.

Good little park. Solid walk trail and green grass as well a lot of foliage for shade over the benches. And it's just isolated from busier streets to escape from the city. One sad part that was a disappointment was the lack of the stream. There is a place where it appears there is supposed to be one but it's dry, like most of Texas. Also cool steps with quotes and sundial on top.

A beautiful little park in a richie-little neighborhood. It has trails and is dog friendly. They have 4 sets of poetry staircases {see my posted pic} with quotes from Thoreau, Frost, Dante's Inferno, etc on the steps. VERY COOL. They also have a neat stone sundial.

I get to be a human time piece at the sundial.

Easy walking trail and tranquil enough to forget the hustle and bustle of city life if even for a moment.

Quiet little piece of earth in the middle of this crazy city. Nice place to go clear the mind when the hustle and bustle is too much.
