Turtle Creek Park is one of those hidden-in-plain-sight gems that makes city living feel a little more peaceful. It's close to where I live, and I love having such a beautifully maintained green space nearby. There's lots of open lawn that would be perfect for a picnic or just soaking up some sunshine. It's dog-friendly (major points for that!), and I've consistently seen pet parents doing a great job cleaning up after their pups. Personally, I prefer this kind of open space over a traditional dog park--as long as your pup has excellent recall and listens well. Just a heads-up: Turtle Creek Blvd runs alongside the park and it's a busy street, so keep that in mind. One of my favorite things about this park is how it feels like a little escape from the hustle of the city. Maybe I've been lucky, but's it's never gotten overly busy during my visits. Whether you're walking your dog, taking a quiet stroll, or reading under a tree, it's just a nice vibe. Pro Tip: There is some street parking available, but only on certain sides depending on signage--so double-check before leaving your car. The trees were comparable to what I witnessed back East during the Yale days. Beautiful historical park that's been decimated by the politically correct movement. Formerly known as Robert E Lee Park until recently. Anchoring the outer edge was an enormouse beautiful bronze of Robert E Lee on horse back . Removed by a vote of Dallas City Council under misguided pretense. Over the decades this park has been a community cornerstone, site of Vietnam war protest, racial equality demonstrations, hippie hang outs and now covid 19 respite. I have been enjoying it all my life and while I didn't agree with the civil war and some of the things it stood for, I do appreciate history and taking down a beautiful piece of art and changing a name only hides the truth and advances nothing. read more

Large beautiful park right in the middle of the city! It had a lake, tons of space to walk and picnic benches to sit and eat at. They also had public water fountains for humans and animals. Great place to get out into nature right in the city. read more

I absolutely love this park - a calm little oasis in the heart of Uptown. It is a great place to go for a walk, bring your dog, or enjoy a picnic! It is clean and maintained well. The entire area is very picturesque! The green trees, the fountain along the creek, the big gazebo, it's all beautiful! I've even seen people taking wedding and prom pictures here several times. You can access the back of the park from Katy Trail which is also nice! 10/10 would recommend! read more

Quick look rating: 5/5 Quality, 5/5 Experience Great park, clean most all of the time. The park is well kept and designed very well. The park follows turtle creek going south of the Dallas country club. The grass is well kept and can be found going right up the the creek. The homes around the park are gorgeous! At the park there all kinds of activities going on from ducks and geese swimming about, young couples picnicking, joggers out getting a run complete to neighbors out for walks! I run by here ever so often, and it's fun to see some of all the wildlife here at the park! They have a nice pathway that goes through the narrow park. I like very much that it is patrolled often as well. Nice officers that patrol the place! I always feel like that there is a calming effect on folks after they pass by or through a park! If you come here to eat your lunch, which is a grand inexpensive way to spend some time, just make sure you pick up after yourself and/or your family. Too many folks work their tail off here to make it look nice for others, thank you! Great park to practice fly casting! This is where I find this place extremely neat, it's in practicing fly casting before I go fly fishing! The grass is cut nice and semi-thin and there is not much to catch on your back cast! Now a person could practice casting on the pavement/cement but that would really tear up a fly fishing line and grass does a small bit as well. Here on the creek is a great place to cast! If you do practice out on the grass, it's not to tough here at the creek. The only real thing to watch for is when might come up and down the pathway. Now not all the time is a person going to just keep looking forward. If your really trying to improve your casting, you should be watching your back cast as well. You want to feel the pressure of the weight of the fly line going back and what it looks like matched to the line! I came down here to the park several years ago with a fly casting instructor. We brought four different fly rods loaded up and I was the student. It was a grand experience! All four fly rods acted so different. Our lesson started out with a five weight nine foot rod, which I would say was the main learning/teaching rod that we used! After 45 minutes, the casting loops were much tighter, more accurate and the ease of use was much more fluid! (Due to my instructors teaching that were excellent, we moved quickly)! The other fly rods we tested were a 2 weight, 3 and a 4 weight with different lengths. It was like night a day between the rods. I loved that towards the end of the casting lesson, a little wind came up! It was great getting some pointers for casting in the wind! **To note: If you practice fly casting here is to wash and clean your fly line afterwards. The reason being, I fear that the Dallas country clubs just up stream and the fertilizers and chemicals that might be going down stream. Cleaning your fly lines will help with the life of the fly lines. All in all, I love this little park! read more

A very pretty and well-maintained park. It's really close by to my apartment, so I like taking my dog out here to jog. So far, I've been going at off hours (11am on a Monday, 7am on a Friday), but it doesn't seem too crowded. Lots of pretty views as I jog by. There are also several doggy stations around the park, making it pet friendly. However, note that there are signs placed asking for pets to be leashed. In the past few times that I've been here, I've seen people hanging out on picnic blankets, taking walks, and even practicing boxing. There's not really a private lot except a bit for Arlington Hall, but there's usually plenty of free street parking. read more

We've been to this park before, but we decided to get out of the car and take a stroll since we were in the area again. What a beautiful, historical park this is. It's kept up very nicely - clean and well-maintained. The parking area is somewhat small, but we still found a place to park quickly, so that wasn't a problem. There were many families out, enjoying the sites and taking photos of the architecture. We even saw a wedding party using the landscape as a backdrop. A positive experience all around! read more

Gorgeous park, probably my favorite urban park in all of Dallas. There are usually plenty of dogs socializing in the westernmost open area, though an occasional daredevil squirrel will interrupt. The easternmost portion shows off the beauty of Turtle Creek, making it great for a romantic picnic spot. During wedding season, some portions of the park are reserved on the weekends but still plenty of features open to have fun. Highly recommended. read more
