The struggle with any urban area is carving out green-space that fits into the area and is useful for those who frequent the area. Pacific Plaza Park is another step the City of Dallas has taken as downtown evolves from just a business center into an area that encompasses daily living.
This space, which was previously a parking lot and much smaller park-type area, has been converted to include a few dog-walking areas, a central lawn, an area for food trucks along with an open-air pavilion. Thankfully, they retained some of the large trees from the smaller park as they help shade parts of the newer/bigger park. The lawn area is idea for a picnic, tossing a Frisbee, etc. There are multiple table/chair sets throughout the park which will be useful socializing over a cup of coffee or food from the area. There is also a play space that contains some bright colored funky looking swings. From the appearance, it seems this area was designed for kids of all ages.
This park opened in October 2019, so it is still early to determine how it will truly be received and used by the community. If it is anything like nearby Klyde Warren Park, it will be a hit. As an urban dweller, having green-space like this is a welcome addition and I look forward to experiencing all this park has to offer in the upcoming months. read more
