The neighborhood that surrounds this park is so cute! It's so quiet too. The park has a tiny parking lot, so I parked and took my walk through, taking pictures. I saw three other people during my visit. Two with dogs. I was super surprised to see a huge patch of bluebonnets. You don't see those often in Dallas proper, unless on the side of the highway. The trail goes to a creek and there are some homes across the way. It's so peaceful. It's definitely worth checking out, but maybe not a destination-must-go-now. I'm happy to know this place is close by, and maybe on another nice day I could walk to it. Great job to the neighbors for putting this nature walk together. It's lovely, and a good recharge to the soul to be out in it.

Once you walk past the organized rock constructions that make the entrance, the unpaved path gets a bit rugged and poorly maintained. I didn't mind it because it created a sense of "natural wilderness" that is absent in many artificial/human-maintained parks. I saw at least 7 different bird species and plenty of squirrels in my first 5 minutes, so that was exciting. Too bad it is such a small place! I was done in less than 20 minutes.

I used to come to this lake when I was a kid and now as an adult . Some improvements I will state…read moreright off the top, are cleanliness of the park and bugs. There is lots of trash scattered around the the lake and parking areas. I see some homeless as well that have made the lake home ,so that may be contributing to the trash . Gnats will be something that you see frequently . I'm not sure how often that it gets sprayed but the oak may also be a contributor. Around the lake is a total of 3 miles and it's some nice views in certain areas. It's directly behind the Dallas love field airport so you see multiple airplanes landing and leaving. It can get loud and noisy due to this but very exciting to see. You will occasionally see some ducks and rabbits along the path. Pretty cool place to enjoy a nice walk some views .

The baseball diamonds have since been removed, but the soccer fields remain. There are lots of activities that take place at the park such as soccer games, cookouts on the permanently installed grills, kids playing on the modern playground equipment, birthday parties and family reunions in the pavillions, but perhaps the main activity is that this is parking area and beginning of the Whiterock creek trail, which gives cyclists a beautiful pathway to ride all the way to Whiterock Lake.

There are nice trails to run on and lots of trees. It was not crowded but there was enough foot traffic to feel safe. Also to note, there are 3 kiddie park areas. Two on the side with the trails and another across the street. If you're into tennis and basketball they have courts as well. There's also a creek with fish although, I'm not sure if you're allowed to fish there. Last but not least, there is ample parking. Enjoy!!

Hillcrest Village Green is an amazing re-development of what had become a dead shopping center…read more The developers put in less storefronts and made a greenway area where families and friends gather to play or visit. The greens are right on the middle of a group of restaurants. Included are Cane Russo, Haute Sweets, The Brass Tap, Don Pepe's, Kid's Empire, Haystack Burgers, and Ka Thai. The redesign made the area HUGELY popular and revitalized what had become an eyesore.

Since this is a park I feel free to give Five stars for sentimental value!!!!…read more I grew up in Oak Cliff Texas. This is a section of Dallas in the western region of the city limit. At one time it was populated by the working class. One of my acquaintances and peripheril friends was Stevie Ray Vaughn. We went to the same elementary and High School. This park was a " Hang out" back in the day. Now,I didn't do much hanging out here and I'm not sure about Stevie. I do know his childhood home is right down the street. So possibly when the City of Dallas decided to honor Stevie and his brother Jimmy,Kiest park was a good place to do it. Last September which would have been Stevie's 67 th birthday,a memorial steel art sculpture depicting Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimmy Vaughn was dedicated here. Stevie was a great musician taken from us way too soon. I think the City did a great job remembering him with this surprisingly good steel sculpture. If you're in Dallas,it's definitely worth the trip. If you are a Stevie Ray fan, it's a must do. Go!
