We contracted Boxwood immediately prior to the onset of the pandemic for an October 2020 wedding. After twice changing the event date, life just took over for us - we married in a much smaller "pandemic" ceremony and then became pregnant. Our priorities had changed and we decided to cancel the big event. Lynn and her team surpassed our expectations in accommodating our circumstances and sent a touching card congratulating us on our pregnancy. We will miss working with Boxwood and highly recommend their outstanding service.

On my visit I spotted several birds including an Indigo bunting. Aside from the birding this is a place to experience peace and be one with nature. I really want to give this 5 stars but the trails need some maintenance and some of the exhibits in the visitor center need repaired. I really wish Dallas would invest more into this already proven successful project and make it more known. I lived most of my life in DFW and only recently found out that this place existed.

The trial is good for all skill levels as well. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, bikes. The trail starts at Towne Centre Drive and Franklin Drive intersection and ends along the west bound frontage road of Interstate 30. Pros -Very wide lanes. This is perfect for social distancing because it allows you to walk far enough from other people without feeling smothered or it being too crowded -the lanes are perfect for bikes as well because it's very spacious. -beautiful scenery. The trail leads through a nice pond and bench areas that gives you a nice spot to rest and enjoy the view. Cons. -short distance. this section in the park is kind of short. If you're riding a bike, then it wont take long to finish the trail. It's about 4-5 miles total -the trail has a lot of incline. Because it's on part of a hill area, there will be parts that go uphill and downhill which can make it a little dangerous.

From the floodplain of the Trinity River, you can see all the bright lights of Big D. Downtown Dallas has two bridges designed by the internationally acclaimed architect, Santiago Calatravas. There's one at each end of the trail here. There's no restrooms here along this trail. No shade from trees. The area around the Trinity has been mowed to keep things visible, and a concrete path to follow. There's a map at the trail head that walks you through the features of the Trinity river valley. This place is generally pretty sketchy at night- there's a place you can pull off the road and park and make out or whatever those people are doing in their cars. It seems like a fantastic place to meet some shady characters late at night. I wouldn't hike past sundown. I went walking alone through the trail, and I'm pretty sure I made some of the other joggers uncomfortable when there was nobody else around... I'd have felt much more comfortable on a bike.

From what I understand based on the trail maps, the Trinity Skyline trail itself is a little less…read morethan 5 mile loop, but it connects to another trail which could lengthen it. On our first trip out, we only walked the half mile leg of the trail between the Trinity Overlook and the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge. Street parking was easy at the Overlook. There weren't a lot of spaces but there also weren't a lot of cars. I think most people start from one of the other trailheads. The views from the overlook are nice, but not as nice as the views from the pedestrian bridge. It would probably be more exciting at night. From the overlook we descended down a steep hill to the trail. The path is a little rocky but still adequate for running, assuming you have good shoes. This definitely isn't a trail for you barefoot runners! I can't speak for the rest of it, but this portion of the trail was NOT LIT, so it wouldn't be an early morning or night run option without a flashlight (and a taser). It is roughly a flat half mile from the overlook to the bridge and it is beautiful. There are views of both the Margaret McDermott and Margaret Hunt Hill bridges, the Trinity River, and the Dallas Skyline. Walking the trail in early April, everything was vibrantly green and absolutely stunning. We hopped off the trail to walk down the Ronald Kirk pedestrian bridge. On a Friday mid morning in the midst of Coronavirus quarantine, the bridge was sparsely populated - just a few people here and there running, biking, or walking their dogs. I see from previous reviewers that it is normally quite lively, which will be a fun thing to go back and experience, but it was also nice to have the bridge mostly to ourselves and peacefully take in the 360 degree views. The Trinity Skyline trail and the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian bridge come together to make a true urban oasis. Go check it out!

Samuell Farm is a cute farm in Mesquite, TX that recently hosted a farm fest which we attended. The…read morefarm itself is very spread out and the activities were a lot of fun. From potting plants to goat yoga and even a train ride, there was plenty to do. The fest was geared more towards kids so if you're planning for a day of fun in the area, put it on your calendar. It's also dog friendly so if you want to bring a furry friend you're able to. We had a lot of fun although you can do just about everything in around 30 minutes. There's a few food trucks as well if you're looking for a bite to eat and there were free gift bags on the way out with snacks, which were nice. A quick and cute event for adults, a day of fun for kids.

Campion Trails is a walking/biking trail that runs parallel to the Trinity River in Irving. It…read morestretches from Las Colinas all the way to Valley Ranch. For this review, I'm going to highlight all the areas where you can park and enter the trail. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Trail, Return) Atmosphere - The trail is a wonderful, well shaded path which is populated with a good mix of cyclists, runners, roller bladers, and even families. It's one of my favorite places in the city, because it takes you away from the concrete jungle and into a lush, green, natural hideaway. 2 Stars. Trail - Here are the trail entrances where you can park your car and enter into Campion Trails starting from North to South. Sam Houston Trail Park - 101 I-635, Irving, TX 75038. This entrance is at 161 and Valley View. It's a good location if you want to start north and go down. Also, it has the only outhouse (that I know of). I've never used it but just know it's there. TW Richardson Grove - 101 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Irving, TX 75063. Right off the exit for George Bush Hwy off I635, this area has a covered patio that's perfect for gatherings for picnics and cookouts. La Vallita Park - 1 Camino Rio, Irving, TX 75039. This park is in the La Villita neighborhood. It was two playgrounds for kids, lots of shade from trees, and a covered patio. Rio Vista Park - 2 Barcelona, Irving, TX 75039. Also located in La Villita. This park has a basketball court, playground, and a covered patio with grills. There are no parking lots, but you can park along Barcelona, Campion Trails Park - 5950 Riverside Dr, Irving, TX 75039. This parking lot is next to the Irving Police Station. Needless to say, it's safe to park your car here. Birds Fort Trail Park - 5756 Riverside Dr, Irving, TX 75039. This is the BEST entrance to Campion Trails. Not only is there plenty of parking, but there are several covered patios, and it overlooks the Trinity River. Paws Colinas Dog Park - 1300 California Crossing Rd, Irving, TX 75039. This is a great dog park. It's really not a place to park and enter Campion Trail, just know it connects. California Crossing Park - 5198 Riverside Dr, Irving, TX 75039. This is the end (or beginning) of Campion Trails. Start here if you want to start biking north towards Valley Ranch/Coppell. Let's go! 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I live in La Villita so my entry way is through the two parks. I hope that after reading this review, you'll be inspired to check out one of my favorite trails in all of DFW. 1 Star.

The elevated trail is gravel but there are sidewalks for the lower level paths. You can see the Dallas skyline and variety of wildlife . Parking is ok, but could use some renovating . There are several ponds and a few resting areas. Not really shaded unless your under a bridge so not an ideal place when bad weather occurs . If you're new to Dallas or have never been, I highly suggest talking a stroll through this park.

This is a really nice park! There's an area where you can actually play in the fields so bring your…read moredogs out so they can run around as long as they are nice and friendly. There's also an area where you can do hills for a workout, and a couple of trails that lead out various ways! Some of the trail is shaded and some there is no shade, so make sure to bring water and stay hydrated while walking, jogging or running! There are cyclists on the trail as well, so be mindful as you are out there to keep your ears open for when they come behind you. There is one restroom that is like an outhouse so make sure to use the restroom before you come, but if you want to use the porter potty there is one right when you enter the gate on the right hand side. This place is great to bring your family out to have a nice Picnic or just to take some nice photos as well. I love coming here. I do feel safe but when you come out here, please try to at least bring someone with you so that you have a partner as you work out. There's also wildlife out here please do not touch. There are signs out as to where the wildlife may be at so be mindful. And in the meantime, enjoy the atmosphere of being outside in the elements.

I could barely hear my thoughts, so I definitely bring some earbuds or headphones if you come here for a walk/run. Not only that, it's busy and the park had a lot of mud due to poor drainage. I was disappointed with this place although it was so busy. Lastly, the park doesn't have good lighting for the nighttime so be careful and don't get too far from the parking lot after sunset.
