Went to the pool to swim after work. Water was clean, not too crowded, and I could do my laps. Locker rooms were okay.

I take my 7 year old daughter here all the time. We both love the place. The staff is super friendly, the lifeguards are patient and attentive, and the atmosphere is family and kid oriented. Perfect for a summer day at the pool with your children. read more

This park has a bit of everything. Playgrounds, winding walking path that is somewhat lit at night, basketball court, pool, restrooms, and baseball diamond. The kids love this place as there is even an old tree that can be scampered upon. Parking is available on the street and I've seen it get crowded more than a few times. Lots of dog walkers and you'll see some larger groups working out in the open fields. Parks should be fun and allow both group and individual activity. This one does that. read more

Awesome inner city/downtown park. Nearly everything you could ask for. There is a fair amount of off the street parking which is usually a hassle in the city. The park is about a little more than a half mile in circumference for which there is a running trail to walk the dog, jog, or take the kid for a stroll. The pool is a hotspot in the area and the two small kid parks are great for letting the little ones run free. Plenty of open field space and there is also a basketball court and softball field. This a great spot for families to spend the day and make sure to pack a picnic to eat in the shade of the trees all around or under the pavilion where there are plenty of tabes. This East Dallas neighborhood Park has it all - adult Kickball games on Tuesday nights, fencing practice on Tuesday nights, a softball field, a basketball court, and a swimming pool. If you are broke and bored, just ride your bike on up to the park and watch whatever game they've got going on at the moment. There's nothing like free entertainment. read more

First visit here my only complaint is that when purchasing entries to the pool for 5 at $4 each the cashier (dark completion Hispanic w/eyeglasses, large size build) demanded to inspect our attire before I paid for the entry fees of my 4 children to ensure that we meet the guidelines. I lingered around to listen if she asked the other customers that stood behind me and never did I once hear her request the same from them. I decided to do so since I noticed that all of the other people's children were already inside the pool site area before the parents paid. I don't know should I call this racial profiling or stereotyping. All I know is that I was bothered and did not feel welcomed. I will never return to this pool site! read more

In general, I am not much of a park person. Lots of open ground, not very many seats, too many kids, alcohol frowned upon....eh, not my bag. However, this park is nearest to my house so when the BF and I wanted to get some exercise by throwing the nerf football around we drove down the street to Tietze Park. They have more stuff there than I initially thought: tennis courts, playground equipment including a couple of sweet looking slides, picnic tables, softball field, basketball court, and a huge pool. Not only that, there is a large expanse of land for your frisbee/football/chillin needs. Seats are located randomly throughout the grounds as well. During the week they apparently have a lot of activities (like softball games, bootcamps, etc) and you can always get in on a pickup basketball game if you are badass enough!! One thing you cannot do there is ride a 4-wheeler. This dude had his kid on one of the kiddie size 4-wheelers and the cops showed up and made them stop driving it around. Overall convenient location and enough stuff to keep you occupied. read more

I like bringing my kid to this park because it's the closest to our house. I like that it's wood chips so the kids don't get too dirty, however, it can also cause splinters. There's an open field to run around in with dogs. read more

The address for this place is 2850 Skillman Rd Dallas, TX 75214. I followed my GPS to 6115 Llano Rd and all I found was a parking lot.

This is a nice established neighborhood park the is convenient for walking, sports, and picnicking. Plus, there's lots of green space and big trees to enjoy. There's a nice sized parking area in the northeast corner of the park. The only disadvantage is the street noise from busy Skillman Street. read more

Is there a way to change the address on reviews? Just for GPS sake, the address is off Skillman. But anywho, love this park. It's a quick walk away from mi casa which is always a plus. I go running here almost every day and it's a gorgeous run. Beautiful trees surround a major part of the walking/running trail around the park, makes for a peaceful experience. The playground is big and has never been overcrowded. There is a covered pavilion for picnicking and on more than one occasion there have been cookout parties under them. There is also a public pool there, but I haven't got to try it yet, but will this summer for sure. Huge open space for a good game of freeze tag...haha.There is also a softball field that has been used as a kickball field as well. Oh, I almost forogt to mention the 'dead' tree which is fun for climbing or taking pictures on. Wonderful park! read more

I first played in this park and used its pool as a four-year-old in the early 1970s, and pretty much owned it as an adolescent and teenager into the mid-80s. I recall when the two tall light standards were first installed in the late 70s, and there were more bois d'arc trees on the Skillman side for climbing. Those trees slowly sank and died, as bois d'arcs do, and the light poles have rusted a good deal. When I was a kid, the playground was much larger, on a rough-surfaced, pink pavement that offered many a scraped knee or elbow. It included a tall galvanized-steel slide, wooden/metal merry-go-round, two 2x10 plank seesaws, a metal jungle jym, and a set of 4-6 heavy wooden swings on metal chains. One could swing high enough to kick the branches in the overhead live oaks. The pool had two diving boards on the north side: a 1-meter "wimps" board, and a 3-meter diver from which I nailed can-openers and soaked the teenybopper lifeguards numerous times. All those amentities are gone, thanks to the era of CYA lawsuits and nanny-state overprotectiveness. Despite ourselves and those horrible "hazards", none of us ever got seriously injured. The all-plastic playground that has occupied the north side of the grass field isn't the sheer adventure of the old one, but is adequate for an hour or so of play before the kids get bored. The pool is a big splash-pool now, with the boards gone. Last I checked, the concession stand still was closed also; it used to serve surprisingly good burgers and, of course, sno-cones. The circumnavigational joggign trail was installed in the early '80s and still is in very good shape, thanks to needful patching and quality pavement. I live a few hours out of town, but still go there every chance I get when visiting Dallas, mainly for nostalgia's sake. I took my kids there to play when they were young enough, and they now have good memories of it too. It's a quiet park now, and has changed for the better in one respect--it actually is safer now than it was in the 1970s to early 80s, before the neighborhood around it gentrified and got too expensive for the low-renters (including us, at the time). That cultural shift also drove out the gangbanger and dope-dealer crowd that sometiems stalked the place in the early '80s. Some friends and I spilled a good deal of blood in that park on fights with some of the dope-pusher element, but I won all mine...hey, it was my turf, not theirs! :-) When you go, walk over to the wide sidewalk that runs SE from the corner of Skillman and Goodwin, and passes between the tennis court and softball field. Look down to see a faint, wavy bicycle track in the pavement. I put it there in 1982, when the sidewalk was laid. The sandstone "echo chamber" next to the new playground is a good place to have a birthday party, hide from storms, or make out after dark. And don't forget to stroll over to the huge concrete drain and cage in the southeast corner of the park, and yell into the drainage tunnel. It will echo for several seconds. Wherever that tunnel goes, it's a long one. read more
