This review is for the bar at Katsuya only. We stopped in for a drink after shopping. The interior is large, open, dramatic and beautiful. The light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, which are industrial and huge, and really add to the ambience. Seating areas include a sushi bar, a regular bar, and tables. We sat at the bar and the bartender who waited on us was very nice and made a mean old fashioned. We ended up trying a Katsuya Roll and it was fresh but the flavor was just ok. Will come back another time to try the full dinner menu, and also to try Casa Dani which is owned by the same company and is attached to Katauya.

Beautiful location in Century City mall that took over one of the marquee locations in the area. You walk into a completely zen and modern space with very friendly and helpful staff. We walked in without a reservation at about 5:30 on a Sunday and were able to grab a spot at the bar but by the time we left it was packed! We ordered several items - katsuya is known for their tuna crispy rice but we tried the salmon crispy which was good but I think I like the tuna better. We also ordered the cucumber salad which was refreshing. The star of the night though was the miso cod with nicely grilled broccolini. Really nicely prepared and tasty. Also had some good mocktails as well!

Beautiful, spacious restaurant with a really welcoming atmosphere - it feels upscale but still comfortable. We ordered the salmon, black cod, baked crab roll, and crispy tuna rice, and every single dish was excellent. The fish tasted incredibly fresh. Service was just as impressive as the food. Staff were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything came out smoothly without us ever feeling rushed. Overall, a fantastic dining experience great food, great ambiance, and great service. Definitely a place we'd come back to.

Finally made it to their new location in Century City. I give this place a 3 1/2 stars at best, we were literally the first customers and the whole restaurant. The restaurant is huge! I will have to say the service was not optimal, very mediocre service. It was on a Sunday day after Valentine's Day. Their food was also just OK very mediocre. Nothing like what Katsuya used to be like. But the prices have definitely gone up, but the service and quality of food has really gone down. They do also charge a lovely "wellness of extra 5%" to the Bill to help offset the servers or I should say the employees medical benefit benefits. Hate this! But we still left 20% so essentially you're leaving 25% on a hefty bill. With such a huge restaurant organization, this should be their responsibilities go take care of their employees and not the customers. Will be our last time I will be going there. Food: Appetizers- * seaweed salad- good, typical of any Japanese restaurant * hamachi & Serrano- very good not fishy * spicy tuna over crispy rice - they add butter to it so it had a funky taste * Shishido peppers- spicy little guys! More than usual and I like spice! * avocado and cucumber roll EntréeS: shared with the table) * A5 fried rice- did not like, don't bother, very bland and salty flavored $50 something dish (sent back) * short ribs- very tender and taste pretty good just too much sauce for my liking. Kind of miss on the side something vinegar to cut the richness of the dish. * Katsuya roll- interesting but would not think this was their signature roll.., wasn't anything special. * some sushi - fresh Dessert- * mochi donuts- pretty good chewy morsels. Overall dining wasn't something I would drive far for. I drove over an hr to get here. Not much food for 3 but we left full and bill over $300.

FINALLLLYY got to try Katsuya. Everyone hypes it up & now i understand why. You will have such a good time. The Yellowtail is so fresh, layered with sprouts & jalepeno The Bluefin is just so tasty you definitely need to order it. However, the spicy tuna crunchy rice was surprisingly mid & needed a sauce or something for more flavor. Food aside, the vibes are upbeat, classy, & picture perfect.

So happy this place opened here! I love coming for lunch and getting their signature lunch special. Nothing can beat that. The spicy tuna rice cracker is one of the best that I've ever tasted, the baked crab roll is so delicious, and all the other sashimi that come with it. They have the best iced green tea and the ambiance is very nice. Just a gorgeous restaurant. And definitely my favorite restaurant in the Century City mall.

Donuts and matcha ice cream. Make sure to save room for these!!

I had such a great experience at Katsuya in Century City. The space is absolutely beautiful. The design and lighting make it feel really special the moment you walk in. Perfect for date night! My favorite thing on the menu is the crab rolls. I honestly could eat them for an entire meal. I crave them all the time. I usually go to the Katsuya Hollywood location, so it was fun to visit this one in Century City and see how stunning it is. I have noticed they have been doing some construction at the Hollywood location lately. Does anyone know if it is opening again or anytime soon? I cannot wait for it to reopen. I also love how the Hollywood location has a DJ.

Soooo good! I went to happy hour after work on a Friday and was more than pleased with my lychee cocktail and bites. David the bartender made one of the best drinks I've had in a while. He also made delicious food recs. Can't wait to go back!

Katsuya is my favorite Japanese / Asian fusion restaurant, this new location didn't disappoint. We came in for some drinks and snack before our dinner at Casa Dani next door. These two restaurants share the same space actually. Both are gorgeous and spacious. The bar and lounge area of Katsuya is outdoor, the heater was too warm for me! We tried a couple grey goose and Vesper martinis, also blistered shishito peppers to snack on. Our bartender was so accommodating that he pulled Grey Goose vodka out for us. Our bar time was very relaxing with great martinis. We will come back soon for a full meal at this new Katsuya!

I haven't been to Katsuya in years and this was my first time at the Century City location. The lunch pre fixe menu was pretty good. It came with miso soup and I chose the miso cod entree and yellowtail. We had a large party and some dished were missed, so I think service was overall pretty mid. My broccolini was pretty fibrous but otherwise my food was great. Love the ambiance as it's very different from the other locations.

We had a great time at Katsuya. We were seated right away and we ordered some mint tea and club soda to start. The tea was delicious and you get an entire pot per person. Our waitress was very attentive and brought our large food order out as soon as the food came out. We had miso soup, eggplant, bluefin tuna tataki, the spicy tuna crispy rice, the karai roll, a yellowtail roll, the Katsuya roll, sushi moriawase, the branzino, A5 wagyu fried rice, and the yuzu kosho king salmon. The food was all delicious, and I enjoyed each dish. The A5 wagyu fried rice was so flavorful it reminded me of a paella and was one of our favorite dishes. Our waitress did a great job helping us with customizations as well, some people could not eat jalapeno and they were able to make the crispy rice with spicy tuna without the Jalepeno. Also one person preferred no green onion in his miso soup and they were able to make the soup without that item as well. This was a great experience and I highly recommend this restaurant for delicious food and great service.

Obsessed with Katsuya: From the first bite of their spicy tuna crispy rice to the rich, tender tomahawk short ribs. Add in the sleek, modern atmosphere and attentive service, and it's easy to see why Katsuya is such a favorite for group dinners or special nights out.

I had the best experience here! The restaurant is gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the service was spectacular. Really, what more could you want?! My friend and I split the salmon sashimi, cucumber sunomono, miso black cod, and spicy tuna crispy rice. All were immensely flavorful -- I LOVED the cod, but all four were absolutely worth getting. I also had the espresso martini and it was perfect. It was my friend's birthday and we got the chocolate lava cake which was INSANE. They also surprised us with mochi! All in all a fabulous experience. Would definitely come back!

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

When I made reservations on the phone I asked about the latest reservation and confirmed 10 pm - however I asked if I could sit at the bar and they said not at that time since they closed at 11. When we arrived, there was a couple coming in at 10 and sat at bar...maybe just miscommunication but tha could have prevented us from consuming our food quick and skipping on alcohol since the table we got was not the best. Sushi felt very fresh and there's something about the way they make the rolls that feels different about other places (not sure if in a good way) Great staff and sushi chefs- they were super fast moving from one course to the next one.

While the fish quality here is great, you will get more bites that seem a lot more experimental with flavors and garnishes. I didn't like every single bite but I expected that. A lot more focus on creative cocktails and drink pairings instead of just sake or wine. This is a great place to try Japanese whiskey, they even have little lockers where regular patrons can store their expensive bottles they've bought for when they return, and you are welcome to grab an additional drink and chill in the space afterwards if you'd like. The chefs here were a lot more personable and fun with more of a bar vibe than a traditional omakase. Service was great, dedicated bartender was great, and though it's not the best sushi I've ever tasted, I would still bring someone back here for a unique experience. Brought my friend here for her bday and we left full and happy and a little drunk so I'd say it was a successful night!
