The cashier was nice and friendly. I meant to grab one sandwich for us to try but saw the specials sign and got the Portobello Mushroom Sando too. I'm prefer my veggies so I preferred the Mushroom sandwich I had the whole thing for dinner) but the Pork sando was ok. It's a lot of meat but like I said, I'm more of a veggie person.

Had it from the food truck outside of Patagonia for a Friends of Kewalos event, and it was pretty good! I shared a portabello katsu and a pork katsu sandwich (not pictured) and both were fried well with soft bread. The pork was a bit dry at times, and the sauce was standard delicious katsu sauce. The portabello katsu was well balanced with the toppings and the mushroom was cooked perfectly! Service was quick and polite and the owners were working hard!

So good! Perfect Katsu (cutlet) in a fluffy bread. When you go to Kakaako Farmer's Market in Honolulu, this place is a must try place for a meat lover! Service is good and prompt. Fries are very good.

I've been waiting a long time to try them during my visits to O'ahu, and I'm glad I did! Not only did I get to try their classic katsu flavor, but their new Spam Katsu as well! The owner and staff are all incredibly nice and you can always find them at the Kaka'ako Farmers Market on saturdays with their food truck setup! - Miguel Morales Photography

Always a great choice at Katsu Sando! I've only tried this at the Kakaako Farmers Marker on Saturdays so not sure where else they might pop up. I was originally hooked with the chicken katsu Sando but I also got a chance to try the tonkatsu, portabello special, and the corned beef hash special. All were super tasty! The fry on these baddies are perfection with the ultra soft bread. The only junk thing sometimes is the wait can be long because everyone knows how good it is here! Good things take time and it's definitely worth the wait!

Over excited bud: "So what did you think of the katsu sando?" Me reading a random story on CNBC: "It was alright". Over excited bud: "You didn't love how perfectly cooked the katsu was"? Me channel surfing the mundane midday shows: "It was alright, a little burnt". Over excited bud: "You didn't appreciate they cut off the crust or their tasty sauce"? Me playing Angry Birds: "It was alright. The bread still had some crust and was day old and the sauce unevenly spread but..." Bud: "Let me guess; alright. Who are you Matthew McConaughey with your alright, alright, alright???" Me trying to find a matching sock: "It was just alright. It's food truck food from a farmers market. You're hungry, it satisfies. It is what it is. Alright". Fairly priced; $10. Friendly service.

This is one of the best things you can get at the Kakaako farmers market on Saturday mornings. A thick piece of tonkatsu (fried pork breaded in panko) paired with shredded cabbage and just the right amount of tonkatsu sauce, all sandwiched between soft Japanese bread. The pork is juicy and cooked almost perfectly. Pros: -Taste is so close to Katsu Sandos you get in Japan -Cost is reasonable ($12) -Able to preorder Cons: -Only available on Saturday 8am to 12pm in the farmers market Already craving this again... Go try it!

Takoyaki, Original and Negi-Mayo. Oishi! Two missing...I was too anxious to eat it! Highly recommended!

Highly recommend. Delicious and tasty!! The sauce and texture is delicious. They cook it while you wait, so everything is fresh and hot.

This is our 2nd time purchasing from this food truck at Kakaako Farmers Market, very consistent and same as 1st time. Ordered the portabello sando, pork katsu sando, egg salad and furikake fries. All was amazing, the pork is juicy & thick (not tough) and great sauce, portabello is thick & meaty. Furikake fries amazes me how they get the furikake to stick to the fries, also ordered extray crispy and got that. Love the bread they use. Be prepared to wait for your order at least 10-15 min as they prepare it as you order, but so worth the wait. You will love the fresh made to order sando. Highly suggest to stop and try their sando's.

So a couple weeks ago one of my friends from work brought me a chicken katsu sandwich. So I had the craving today and decided to stop by and check out the menu. The price is between the seemed like the middle-higher side but don't be intimidated the sandwiches worth the price.... and Yes it is a little extreme but the katsu sandwich was so good last time that I had to sample everything soooooo...... I got the Tonkatsu sando, chicken katsu sando, wagu menchi katsu burger, curry fries , and furikaki fries. They were all good and I like how there is the light breaded katsu layer while the fries were good too. We will be back and my other friends from work will be stopping by since the all said it smelled amazing l.

Oh they just had me at fries *_*; was just in a grazing mood and how can you not try curry fries!? Well I didn't because I think I got the wrong order because it was furikake :( and they were busy it took awhile so I didn't want to dispute it. How was it ohhh yummy of course!! Portion size is huge made to order fresh hot fries filled the take out hamburger box all coated in furikake and came with a yummy zesty sauce I just couldn't get enough of omg! Definitely going back to try the curry fries (pray for me to have another Saturday off) because I absolutely loved it...thank you!!

Took me a while to finally try this place and what the heck took me so long. The katsu sando here is delicious. The tonkatsu is thick and nicely breaded paired with a layer of cabbage and between two slices of shokupan. The katsu burger was also tender and juicy and so good. But the most surprising winner of this food truck is the fries. I prefer the furikake fries over the curry fries but they are both crunchy and packed with flavor. It is a little pricy and there is almost always a line but I think it is definitely worth checking out. I've stopped by on Saturdays and the Kaka'ako farmer's market but check out their instagram to see their other locations.

Who doesn't love farmers' markets? Such a mix of different vendors coming together to provide for the community and vice versa, the community supporting local vendors! I've never been to the Kakaako Farmers Market and the number one reason I decided to finally go was to try the Tonkatsu Sandwich at Katsu Sando 808. I've been seeing it on social media and wanted to see what the hype was about. Writing this today, I've been to the Kakaako Farmer's Market a bunch of times now and have definitely brought some of my friends along to try the IG famous katsu sandwiches. Depending on the time you go, the line could be very long or no line at all at Katsu Sando 808. The farmer's market runs through 9am - 12pm and I've notice that towards noon, the line isn't as long. Don't go too late, or they will run out. I've only tried their tonkatsu sandwich, which is the pork katsu, but I do plan on trying their chicken katsu sandwich. Their tonkatsu sandwich is very moist and has the perfect crisp. It comes between two fluffy slices of crustless Japanese bread and a helping of shredded cabbage mixed with katsu sauce. At first place, it doesn't really look like a huge sandwich, but their tonkatsu is thick and makes for a really nice snack. Highly recommend if ever at the Kakaako Farmer's Market!

And how do I know that it's fresh? Because as we were at the restaurant, deliveries were being delivered nonstop. My kids devoured the salmon bowl with the salmon roe. My 8 year old's bowl was wiped clean. My 7 year old had only 2 slices of salmon and a few ikuras left. The 5 year old polished off her few pieces of salmon and roe along with her miso soup. And momma's Fukuju? Absolutely demolished. I should have ordered it with extra ikura because the quality and flavor that it provided to the bowl was something that I've never had before. I am usually not a fan of ikura, finding it too salty, but the ikura at Totoya was perfectly balanced. Second, the service was great. I had to give it to the lovely staff who were able to keep it all together when a party of 5 adults and 7 kids (aged between 5 to 11) rolled in, and of course the kids all chose to not sit with their respective parents. The food came fast and kept the peace of very hungry children. The place itself is a small little restaurant with just bar seating, no more than 16 seats, so definitely cozy. My friend sitting all the way on the other side of the bar said she could hear my conversation perfectly well, even though all the kids were loudly chatting. We will definitely be back the next time we make it out to Honolulu. Thanks to the restaurant again for providing such a memorable meal. It was all I could think about on the flight home because it was that good.

Even with a decent amount of seating, there is minimal space so they ask that you leave your strollers outside. When we called the first time saying our daughter was asleep they arranged everything in order to fit the stroller inside. The second visit, I had an even bigger stroller because it was a double stroller for my daughter and son. When I said my son was asleep they again, quickly tried to arrange space for the stroller until we realized he woke up. I truly appreciate them being so welcoming because I've come across many establishments that are not especially towards kids. As for the food, the first time the tonkatsu was a miss for me. I was comparing it to a popular spot on the island that books out months in advance that I tried just before my first visit here and it just seemed a lot more oily and not as tender. We were actually going to eat at the other business again but with two kids and walking non stop on our trip already, I was so happy we had an option closer to us. Both times, we were coming from Hilton Hawaiian Village. They have the cutest car bento boxes for the kids, and they let you choose the car color. My daughter loved the mini umbrella that came with her plate. My son was days before turning 1 year old so a lot of things ended up on the floor and even then, they were so kind about it. The best thing though for my husband and I AND my son, was the loco moco which we were told was limited and a new item for dinner since it was primarily only served as a lunch option? The flavor of the gravy alone was sooo good and rich. My son ended up eating my whole portion of rice and gravy with no crumbs left behind or on the floor lol. The other katsu items we ordered were nice and lightly coated and were not heavily oily at all. The only thing that I felt lacked was their curry especially in comparison to their gravy. I would definitely recommend coming here and I can't wait to come back. That was one of our favorite new dishes this trip and we come every year!

I got the pork loin with shrimp combo (the mixed portion instead of the large), and everything was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. One of my favorite parts was grinding the sesame seeds myself in the little ceramic bowl with the wooden grinder, then mixing in the tonkatsu sauce. It made the whole meal feel interactive and intentional, and the sauce was SO good on the pork loin. I also ended up getting a refill of the cabbage because the sesame dressing they served with it was honestly addictive. I went around 8 PM to avoid the dinner rush and was pleasantly surprised I got a table pretty easily. Taking my time with the smaller mixed portion made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable instead of rushed. Overall, really delicious food, great atmosphere, and one of my favorite meals I've had in Waikiki so far. Pictured are the before and after of my dish. Probably a better "go with friends place" than a date.
