I had a pre-made roll so the salmon wasnt like super freshly torched but it still tasted really good.

My partner and I decided to celebrate the end of our quarantine period by ordering some take-out from Roll Roll. The call was quick and easy and pick up was extremely sanitary. I waited outside for the patrons before me to complete their order, and the hostess took time to sanitize everything before I entered. I didn't need to touch anything besides the platter, and the sanitized debit machine. Now...the sushi...my goodness!! We ordered the small combo platter. While a bit more expensive than other places, I absolutely LOVE their spin on sushi. I believe they included: -The Bruce Roll which was crab meat, cucumber inside torched salmon & jalapeno on top (Super tasty!) -Roll Roll Roll - Shrimp Tempura, cucumber, avocado inside, spicy crabmeat on top (This was my favourite!) -California roll and some salmon sushi and a few bites of sashimi Overall, the platter was presented beautifully with some cute accents of dried fruit and greens and it was filling for the 2 of us. If you are looking for a great local spot for some take-out during your social isolation, roll on into ROLL ROLL!

I love their honey fries! they're so crispy and slightly sweet and come with the perfect dipping sauce. I think it's a unique dish which is definitely worth trying out! We got carbonara and curry sauces to go with our Katsu. The curry sauce has a really robust flavour profile and is full of all these incredible warm spices, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend getting this sauce. The carbonara sauce was nice as well and really creamy, I just wish it was a TAD bit spicier. I'm not sure how but Katsuya always has the flakiest crispiest Katsu and it is so appreciated. Portion sizes are very generous so you can easily split with friends, or indulge yourself depending on hunger levels. Overall a really positive experience, I look forward to coming back many more times!

One thing I didn't realize before coming here was that Katsuya sells Japanese FUSION tonkatsu. I…read moreassumed it was a just a Japanese Tonkatsu place until we ate here and saw the sign on the outside. My expectations may have been thrown off a little since I didn't realize what Katsuya trying to do. That said, the food was good, but nothing I'd shout on top of the hills for. The food was still decent, so had to still give it four stars. As much as I am not a fan of fusion restaurants, my favorite was the carbonara katsu. It was like dipping your katsu into an Italian seafood alfredo sauce, with a decent amount of seafood and bacon in it. The pair of this fusion was delightful and I enjoyed eating this one the most. The katsu itself had a nice light, crispy, airy batter, and the pork (you can choose your type of meat) was tender. It was light, yet deep fried, so super oily and felt like a heavy meal. My second favorite was the curry katsu. A good curry sauce with your katsu, typical to what I've gotten at other Japanese restaurants, and exactly what I would expect. It had a slight spice to it. The original katsu I wasn't too much of a fan of. The sauce was a little too buttery for me. Buttery and sweet. I'd come back for the carbonara katsu again for a dip into this italian/japanese fusion.

We also ordered Chicken karage, beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki and salmon sushi with different assortments. Food was great. The restaurant could use a bit of general overhaul. We got a few other rolls as well as salmon sashimi (cheaper than some other places I'd looked at beforehand). They were all very tasty. Notes on the venue: lots of parking; basement bathrooms (so stairs are involved); not a fancy spot but still a pleasant atmosphere.

The quality of my recent order was significantly poorer than in my previous review. I ordered gyoza…read more(and requested they be pan fried), beef with enoki mushrooms, vegetable tempura, hot and sour soup and spicy tuna rolls. The only decent dish was the tempura ($6) which was hot, had a good variety of mushrooms, broccoli, sweet potatoes and eggplant and provided more than the 6 pieces advertised. The gyoza ($6) were deep fried despite my request and I'd be willing to bet that they were in fact the type that you can purchase frozen already deep fried and then refried when ordered. They were incredibly dry and hard. The beef enoki mushroom dish ($12) tasted stale and heavily coated in the sauce it is served with. I'm guessing to disguise the fact that the beef was turning. The hot and sour soup ($6) was bland, though the tofu had a nice texture and the soup had lots of white mushrooms in it which I liked. The spicy tuna rolls ($6.5) were the most egregious disappointment. They used canned tuna! It was terrible. I won't be going back. For the $40 this meal cost I could have purchased similar items of superior quality at the grocery store for half the price.
