My partner and I decided to celebrate the end of our quarantine period by ordering some take-out from Roll Roll. The call was quick and easy and pick up was extremely sanitary. I waited outside for the patrons before me to complete their order, and the hostess took time to sanitize everything before I entered. I didn't need to touch anything besides the platter, and the sanitized debit machine. Now...the sushi...my goodness!! We ordered the small combo platter. While a bit more expensive than other places, I absolutely LOVE their spin on sushi. I believe they included: -The Bruce Roll which was crab meat, cucumber inside torched salmon & jalapeno on top (Super tasty!) -Roll Roll Roll - Shrimp Tempura, cucumber, avocado inside, spicy crabmeat on top (This was my favourite!) -California roll and some salmon sushi and a few bites of sashimi Overall, the platter was presented beautifully with some cute accents of dried fruit and greens and it was filling for the 2 of us. If you are looking for a great local spot for some take-out during your social isolation, roll on into ROLL ROLL!

In the picture I took, the excellent, homemade-tasting, oniony curry sauce is off to the side so you can add it to the katsu (and rice) just before you dig in. This means your cutlet stays crispy the whole time. Wonderful presentation in a lovely to-go bento box. Meal included a cup of miso soup as well. The other picture was my partner's pick. Unagi poke bowl with added salmon (for an extra $4). Great portions and really well flavoured. She commented especially favourably on the tempura crispy bits throughout the bowl, which provided great texture. Go here. Order. You won't be sorry. They have a nice 20% discount for first-timers on the website. Also a nice 15% discount for pick-up.

Decor was alright, typical of any sushi restaurant. We were seated in the booth, which there was 3 and another room for private guests I believe. We decided to keep it simple and ordered a medium sized sushi boat and 4 pieces of uni (sea urchin). We should have known from the lack of customers on a Saturday night that this was not going to be the best sushi... The uni was pretty bad to say the least, it was a gooey texture which happens when it looses its freshness, the taste was unpleasant as well. It was like the smell of a harbour in our mouths. Moving on to the sushi and maki. The sushi was pretty small, about sushi buffet style sizes. The fish didn't taste fresh, the tuna belly especially. When you get a fishy ocean taste, that's when you can tell it is not fresh. I used to work in a sushi restaurant myself so I knew what to expect of fresh and old fish. The maki was small and nothing special. On a positive note the staff were honestly kind and attentive, its just a shame the food didn't represent their quality of service.

The quality of my recent order was significantly poorer than in my previous review. I ordered gyoza…read more(and requested they be pan fried), beef with enoki mushrooms, vegetable tempura, hot and sour soup and spicy tuna rolls. The only decent dish was the tempura ($6) which was hot, had a good variety of mushrooms, broccoli, sweet potatoes and eggplant and provided more than the 6 pieces advertised. The gyoza ($6) were deep fried despite my request and I'd be willing to bet that they were in fact the type that you can purchase frozen already deep fried and then refried when ordered. They were incredibly dry and hard. The beef enoki mushroom dish ($12) tasted stale and heavily coated in the sauce it is served with. I'm guessing to disguise the fact that the beef was turning. The hot and sour soup ($6) was bland, though the tofu had a nice texture and the soup had lots of white mushrooms in it which I liked. The spicy tuna rolls ($6.5) were the most egregious disappointment. They used canned tuna! It was terrible. I won't be going back. For the $40 this meal cost I could have purchased similar items of superior quality at the grocery store for half the price.
